Good morning.

We had a thunderstorm blow through here about 3 am that the weather guessers didn't know about. No real surprise there.

It's currently 68 and partly cloudy and is expected to climb to the mid 80's with still partly cloudy conditions.

I wish we can get some of that rain!:( Last rain we got was over a month ago and that was only 1/8" at best! our rainy season starts next month, I can't wait my personal business depends on it!

Afternoon everyone! Happy Mother's Day and a Blessed Pentecost to those who believe as well!

Just got home from church. Deacons in my church serve communion on Pentecost Sunday so as it fell to me as Moderator of the Board of Deacons to get people to serve and make sure they all got to church on time and knew what to do. All went very well. This afternoon I have to go to Canandagua to help my sister with some things and then get back here to go out to dinner with my son's family for Mother's day.

Won't be a lot of work done on the layout today........

HI everyone! A beautiful but gusty day in T-town. I hope all of you have a good Mother's Day and for those whose Mother has past on, I hope your memory of her will always bring a smile to your face. :)

LOL, your right there! although down here the swamps get what we call a muck fire! wet peat fire, wierd thing!the ground is wet and yet it burns!
http://www.usatoday.com/weather/news/2006-05-10-florida-muck-fires_x.htm

We get the same thing here sometimes, particurly where pine straw is matted thick. The ground on top can be soaked to almost liquid yet the matted straw beneath is dry as a bone. Fortunately the soil here is on top of a thick clay base about two or three feet down, so the fire can't go any deeper than that and the matted areas are usually smaller than fifty feet across.

Hi All ! Jy=ust sat down after cooking brunch for my wife , sister-in-law , niece , and everyone one else in my immediate family . Y es Ray I celebrated Penticost Sunday and wore my Red in honor iof the day . Happy Mother's Day to you Mothers and hope your day was a nice one. Steve sorry your under the weather and hope you get over the bug soon . We have rain now ,it held out long enough for my 48 hour lawn spray , Well have to get out the door again so hope you all had a nice Sunday !!!!!!!

We had rain most of the day here in the Heartland. I have not checked to see if any qualifying existed at the Indy 500 today. This is about the only time of the year I become a sports fan anymore. It used to be I had two TV's going during football season, lived by the radio for the 500 and watched Dizzy Dean on TV on Saturday for Baseball's game of the week. Most professional sports players are overpaid crybabies that have very little talent and it is all me me me me not for the team anymore. Ahh I feel better as my rant is now over and I blew off a little steam.

Good Evening, how y'all doing? Just thought I'd stop by for a few minutes to say,Thanks for the Birthday Wishes, and also to say I hope everyone had a pleasant Mother's Day week-end. Sorry to cut and run,but guys,I am tired from being on the road, and well.5:30am,comes awfully dang early. So,I hope to see y'all later. Goodnight all.William.

Good late evening, railfans.

Our storm passed through our part of Alabama without any problems except for staying up until 4 am watching the radar. Lots of action up north with four tornados on the ground at one time in Winston and Blount counties and just across the Georgia border. It was still 78 degrees at 3 am with a dew point of 71 so I'm amazed we didn't have worse storms down here. At one time, I had lightning in all four quadrants of the sky around me. From all that, we got a whopping .04 inches of rain.

Steve, sorry to hear the flu stil has you down. My garden variety cold is annoying but I'm still functioning at least.

Chris, I think all of us in the Southeast are hoping for a nice tropical storm this year. Not enough to cause any real damage or kill anyone, just enough to give us about 10 inches of rain. It's the only way we can make up this drought deficit.

Ray and Paul, sounds like you both had good days.

Larry, sports have certainly changed over the years and usually not for the better. I still like the Indy 500 though.

Rex, it was windy down here too although we still made it up to 86. I think the season of "Not quite as hot" fronts has started. :) It's 62 now, very comfortable and quite a change from last night's really oppressive heat.

Let's see, dragged myself out of bed for church, then waited for almost two hours for brunch with the wife and daughters, back to church for bible study, and then took Dianna's momma out for dinner and waited another hour to get seated. That pretty well shot my day. Thank goodness Mother's Day is only once a year. :)

Good morning folks

It was a wild weather ride into work this morning. Temperature was 45 F with rain and wind. There were downed branches and other debris all the place this morning due to the 60 MPH wind gusts overnight. The traffic reports were filled with down trees and downed wires. Traffic lights were out on several on my routes to work. We are expecting more rain and wind gusting to 30 to 40 MPH with a high of 51 F. We are under a Flood Watch and a Coastal Flood Warning.

We had a good Mother’s Day. My wife got some new gardening tools and one those garden hoppers she can roll around the yard and use as a seat. She was happy with the gifts since gardening is her major hobby. Dinner was the only problem or should I say getting seated. We went out early and found several of the places overcrowded. One place had an hour and a half wait. We finally went to Hibachi which is a Japanese Restaurant that we all enjoy.

No modeling over this weekend. There is a possibility I could get some done tonight.

Steve, hope you are feeling better!

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good mornniing all.

Hope you all had a good weekend. I spent most of the weekend away from the TV and computer except for watching 'Trains & Locomotives' on Saturday morning and a bicycle race yesterday afternoon. Spent all day Saturday hanging out with my daughter. We had some quality play time and worked on learning colors and other words around the house. It's crazy how fast they learn some of these things. :)

Sunday was lunch with my Mom, dinner with my wife's Mom, and some landscape brick shopping with my wife. Funny how I end up moving all the bricks from the truck to the back patio and get the sore back. It is her day though so no big deal. We are going to redo the perimeter of the house by removing some bushes and redoing the rock gardens. More manual labor. :D

Still not 100 percent happy with my freight yard layout so it's back to the drawing board...again. Need to expand my table about 3 feet or so to get everything in just right with room for future additions.

Good Morming Bill , Chris , Jeffrey , Tom & Carl ! A bit overcast today but not much rain , Quick cup of coffee I'm off to the dentist to check a tooth that has been bothering me for awhile. So I guess I'll be in later. Keep the coffee hot and have a nice day everyone !!!!!!!!

Mornin' everyone!

A bit bit chilly outside here in the Finger Lakes even for May. Currently 55°F and that is predicted to be the high today. I may try to finish the wood splitting and stacking today after I run some errands.

Got a little work done on the Farm Scene last night after going out to dinner with my son and his wife's family.

Hope you all have a great day!

Afternoon, everyone.

Tom, sounds like a wild ride to work. That storm almost looks like a fall Nor'easter on the satellite - unusual weather for your neck of the woods. My late wife loved gardening too and I'll bet I bought her that same tool kit that has the seat built in. She loved that thing. I hope your weather improves by tonight.

Carl, it's amazing what people do to pubic property. I was assigned to the schools security detail for a while in LA and we averaged 4 burglaries a night in a 100 school district. Half the time, they not only stole things, they trashed the whole building. :( That was back in the late 60's and I imagine it's even worse now.

Carl, I'm convinced men were put on earth to be mules. :) It's amazing how neither my wife or daughters can pick up anything larger than a can of peas unless it has something to do with clothes, shoes, or appliances.

Paul, I hope that tooth turns out to nothing serious - like a root canal. I hate root canals.

Ray, sounds like good weather for splitting wood. I don't remember if I commented on your farm scene but it really has come out nice. My uncle had a farm near Erie, PA and yours reminds me a lot of his. We were always climbing around in the silo when we visited and getting him mad at us. I didn't realize how dangerous a silo could be until I was much older.

A very nice day here in Dixie, with a high of 85 and a low of 54. The wind has calmed down and the sky is a deep blue we don't often see down here with all the normal humidity. Looks like we could be in for another round of severe weather Wednesday and Thursday. I sure hope it bypasses Arkansas and Missouri - those folks have really taken a beating this week. We're headed up to Atlanta on Wednesday to see an Eagles concert (my wife's favorite group) and I hope the bad weather doesn't cause any problems. There were at least 6 tornados in Georgia Sunday morning. I just sold out another 20% profit in Norfolk Southern stock. NS stock has been a really good performer in this market for reasons that are a mystery to me. The money should just about pay for the tickets to the concert and our hotel. Man, concert tickets are unbelievable now. I could have gotten about five sound equipped locomotives for what they cost me. Sometimes being single seems very attractive. :D

Know what'cha mean! I don't know how a young fellow affords to pay for a date. (Then again, that role may have changed by now:D ) Older fellows: Do you remember a date to the movie, buying gas, something to eat/drink, cruising around after the movie (or parking:rolleyes: ), for ~$5.00?

I finally got my six #6 Atlas and a Walthers Shinohara curve in today from Internet Hobbies. After they said the dble. switch turnouts were in stock.....they weren't:mad: . Guess I will temporarily put some reg. turnouts in their place until Walthers gets some more in. That way I will be able to continue with my new yard. (10,000 evil words:D )
