Afternoon, fellow hobbyists.
Jeffrey, I have those weird single arm faucets and you have to disassemble the whole thing to get to the washer, which is buried in a hole. I've done it before and they seem start leaking again every year like clockwork. It's a very poor design since the handle puts way too much pressure on the washer and it eventually warps out of shape. I've been thinking about replacing the whole mess with new faucets but I'm too lazy right now. Just reading about your pipe battles makes me tired.
Chris, I think your news postings have been generally amusing and non-offensive. Go ahead and post what you like - it's up to us to pass it by or not. The grade crossing accident is one of those things that happen and we should all take it as a reminder that time is nothing compared to a 79 mph train.
Corey, your track planing looks good. Professionally done on a good software program and easy to understand. I can't imagine why anyone would ridicule it and I'm glad to hear that hasn't happened. And, yes, your cats do know somethings up. They always do it seems.
Paul, I hate fertilizing lawns. I never seem to get it spread evenly and then I get weird green streaks. I'm trying a criss-cross pattern this year so it will look like a baseball outfield.
Ray, I understood what you meant. There has to be a balance between knowing nothing and and trying to know everything. I used be a real news junky until it occurred to me that maybe that had something to do with me being cynical most of the time. I now get most of my news from Yahoo, with financial news being the most important, since that determines how many trains I can buy.

I read a few of the political and international stories so I know what's happening but I don't obsess about every detail like I used to. I'm glad to hear those kids will get some newspaper coverage. The media certainly seem to spend plenty of time covering the activities of our young thugs.
So far, so good with out storms. We've had low clouds this morning and a warm cap at about 10,000 feet which has prevented any thunderstorms from getting going. The conditions are more favorable in Georgia, where they are starting to get some pretty hefty storms. I don't think this will last, unfortunately. a cold front due in tonight should provide enough forcing and break the warm cap to get the storms going here. It looks like sometime between 11pm and 2am for us so at least our cookout won't get ruined. I'm still hoping this will turn out to be a non-event.
