Morning, Y'all,

Chip, are you doing financial advising or what? If so, maybe you can explain why the stock market is so psychotic. :) I'm glad to hear you have more money than you know what to do with.

Corey, that's what I used to hate abut Ohio. You'd start out thinking it was going to be a nice day and there would be a rainstorm by noon. I can't even begin to count the number of ball games we had cancelled due to weather when I was kid playing Little League.

Carl, I guess you do get a bit of kidding about mountain bikes in Iowa. I know there are some pretty hilly parts of Iowa in the west and even eastern Iowa has some pretty good grades coming out of rivers and creeks. Nice shots of those hoppers at the feed mill. Gives a good perspective to how massive those storage bins are when compared to size of the covered hoppers.

Jeffrey, the flatest spot I've ever seen is the area around Amarillo, Texas. The wind blows all the time and the only good thing I can say about is that you can see the tornados coming from miles away.

Chris, I used to bike a lot when I was younger but I'm way beyond the age for successful hill jumping. That must be a different experience racing around in a quarry.

Tom, I'm glad your FIL is doing better. I have the feeling that, given the current real estate market, a lot of agents just aren't working too hard to get anything sold.

Ray, you sure stay awfully busy for a retired guy. :)

Might be an interesting day here tomorrow if conditions set up just right. It's already 79 at 10:00 am and the dewpoints are starting to come up. The atmosphere should be progressively destabilizing over the next 24 hours so it all depnds if this weakening trough can pull up enough moisture and produce enough wind shear to produce some severe weather. We should get some pretty good thunderstorms, at least, and I hope that's all. My banana tree needs some rain again. :)

Chip Thats fantastic, i am so glad your making it in the book world. :)

some nice person gave me an evil cold / chest virus, it's evil, two nights with no sleep is taking it's toll and works a pain which isn't helping

I know what you mean. My brother-in-law is from Silverton, near Amarillo. Folks out there put their shingles on three layers thick because they get winds up to 60 mph!

Hi Guys! Whazzup??:)

Went over to Rex's house yesterday and had a blast!:)

Finagled in some trackwork for Rex and the new yard and associated Passenger service area looks good too.:D Would really like to get back over there, but gas is limiting my trips.

The wife just walked in with the groceries, and she had this look in her eye. Looks like I'm gonna be a cooking outside. :D

Later!

Fellows, I let only CJ put in one curved turnout and under my close supervision with strict tolerances. Can't trust him with real track work since it always looks like a Zig-Zag Singer sewing machine did it. BTW Carey: Where's the cap to my hobby knife? Did the negative pressure machine remove it :D ?

Have you guys noticed the lack of available turnouts this year? Besides the usual with Walthers, Atlas #6's can't be found. Have you notice the msrp of Atlas lately...#6 = $16.85. I hope that is a joke.

Hey, finally done with today's meetings........

Rex glad that Carey was well supervised while he was there. I am very glad that most all my trackwork is down if Atls #6s are almost $17 MSP..... I just bought a #4 wye at the LHS and that was only $12 plus change after my discount (including Tax). I need to do some changing of trackage at the Turntable and Roundhouse. Finally going to get around to add the coaling station and need to have a track for the coal cars..........

I have noticed that there are not as many on the hooks at the LHS lately, why is that? The last time that I bought some Atlas #6s was about two months ago and they were $10.95 at that time. I'll have to swing down there soon to get more so hopefully the price has not jumped.

Ray/Carl: You can still get the "Customline" Atlas 6's for around $12 @ online discount, but they even show $15.75 msrp. The Atlas 6's I was referring to were the ones I think used to be called "superswitch", that have the longer diverging route and @ $16.85 (BTW: That is a $3.30 increase since the 2005 Walthers catalog.) These are around $13. All are scarce:eek: .

This subject has come up so many times on so many forums, but eventually it will be hard to entice anyone into the hobby, if prices continue to escalate. :(

Good morning folks. It's looking like another beautiful day here. We'll see if we get to keep the nice weather. It has been struggling to get over seventy lately. Oh well, as long as it doesn't rain anymore.

I remember Atlas sending out their newsletter saying they were going to be increasing their prices substantially. I thought they were blowing smoke. Maybe they'll tell us there is a shortage of children to work the factories in China! I know there is a shortage of egg laying chickens to account for the rise in egg prices. Who knew we would run out of chickens?!

I get to try to pack our garage today for the big move. I've been putting it off knowing that a garage does not pack well. I guess I'll just have to dive in.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning folks

It was 62 F and raining on the way in this morning. It is supposed to reach 77 F with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Tomorrow is supposed to be real nasty with 1 to 2 inches of rain.

No modeling last night. My daughter had flute recital practice and we had Cub Scout den meeting. Since I am a civil engineer I talked with our Webelos about engineering. They are working on their Engineer Activity Badge.

Tonight we have a Scout Leaders meeting to discuss our upcoming camping trip.

I spoke with the township about our neighbor’s three foot high grass and they will be sending someone to look at it. Our township code enforcement is pretty tough on these type of things. They will give the owner and the realtor so many days to fix the problem or they will site them. They can and will post the house. You can’t sell a house that is deemed unfit for habitation. Also the township could send a crew out to cut the grass and then charge and fine both the owner and realtor. Not only is the grass unsightly it can hide vermin and such. Since we have problems with lyme disease and West Nile encephalitis they do not fool around. Our township has in the past been a hotbed for crows and cardinals dying from West Nile. Several have been found on our block.

I hope everybody has a good day.

:D That is so funny :D, but sad at the same time because they really expect us to believe such rhetoric. Then again and considering the current politics, I guess we will believe most anything:eek: :D .

Good Morning Fellows ! Overcast here with a chance of rain and the high is suppose to get up to 59 but I don't think it's gonna hit 49 . I see that Atlas is indeed raising their prices . Don't forget that the Yen is worth more then the dollar. Since China is the new economic power in the world with all the slave labor they have .just my two cents . And all that American corporations that built them up along with India . Isn't free America a great nation ? And don't forget we let them do it .Every time we elect an official that votes to allow them to invest outside the US and all of us who invest in stocks to make money . Oh well live goes on . have a nice day all !!!

Mornin' everyone!

We got the same weather that Paul described. Good day to work on the layout..... Something I haven't been able to do for several days. My new Walthers Wooden Coaling Tower kit arrived a couple of days ago, so I may get working on that.

As far as the other discussion here this morning, I have always liked this one:

"We have met the enemy, and they is us!"

Hi guys,

I think it is a matter of Bush borrowing so much money from the Chinese that the Chinese now feel they have us by the short hairs--and they're right. I think we'll be seeing rising prices across the board. This will be determined by the profits they can make with price increases vs how much they can make with volume. Welcome China to the free market economy.

Oh, I had a cancellation so I can read some posts.

That and the Pirates have won two games in a row. The Giants may never live that down.

Didn't I hear something on the news that China has been buying up our National debt? Good grief! They may not get us militarily, but they will through our pockets. Sounds almost like a "secret" cold war.

That's what I was refering to, that and out-right loans secured by the administration.
