Good evening from Ye Olde London Towne. Its a pleasant 10c (50f). Not bad for this time of the evening and this time of year. No rain for once. Maybe I'll manage to scrub myself down with some steel wool to remove the rust.

My train shed is up and ready for insulating and electricity. With a bit of luck I will finally have something running for the first time in over a year. Also, I'm planning on having my first venture into North American modelling at the test running stage by spring. Stay tuned.

Steve, sounds like they are playing the assmosis game. The ones that kiss ass the best over the next week get to stay. I've seen that happen before.

Rex please put those knees away, they are frightening the livestock. :D

Tom, you need to introduce a model railroad into the Scout troupe. That's how I got started. I still remember Sunday nights with a tin of leather dye dipping bits of strip wood to make a snow shed in HO.

Jeffery, an old tip for gluing bits that you don't want to glue. Paint the moving parts with some water based 'personal lubricant' ie KY before sticking the rest with CA. The lube stops the CA from wandering where its not wanted and its a simple matter to rinse with water afterwards. Got that tip from an architectural modeller who uses it to paint over clear plastic parts to stop the CA from fogging.

Andrew, that is an excellent idea with the KY or equiv. Several times when I needed more than the normal dab in a joint it would seep beyond and screw things up. Thanks.

Ok guys! My knees have been hidden for the winter. BUT JUST WAIT UNTIL SPRING! WAMMO! :D

Andrew , Rex It's good stuff that is ;) works for me every time.
Jeffery Or you could try CA De-bonder if ever something get's zapped thats not supposed to.

We had an innovation event at work to try to boost ideas for production vehicles and i,,
Had a go in a new model JCB 7320 tractor today, what a machine, compared to the equivalent John Deer it's miles in front with operator comforts and everything is in the perfect position for ease of use and maintenance, (and it will do 43mph) sorry John Deer.

also had a go on a segway All i can say is Fantastic, what a good toy this is.

Good evening everyone!

Rex- I was not going to say anything else about your knees, until you made that statement about her thinking your knees are sexy.
Do you want me to tell her you said that on a public forum or do you want to admit it is wishful thinking on your part?
She must have found SOMETHING she liked about you to have stayed married to you for so long!:D

Ken- In Ohio, I belonged to a MRR club in Smithville (home of Smucker's jams & jellys). We would go for trips around Cleveland and usually eat lunch at a little cafe next to the CSX tracks in Lorain. We would usually see a dozen trains on 4 sets of tracks in about 1-1/2 hours.
Lots of good train watching in northern Ohio. I enjoyed the Mad River railroad museum all 3 times I went. Warther's Museun in Conover amazed me with the hard carved wood and ivory train models. Even had a carved replica of Lincoln's complete funeral train.
The Ohio Central was still running steam engines thru Amish country out of Berlin, Ohio during the summers. Town of Berlin got unhappy about the trains blocking the streets pulling into and out of the station. They asked Ohio Central to not run on weekends. Berlin lost about 15,000 tourists when Ohio Central moved the train rides to Conshockton.

Funny thing, how you can find train enthusiasts just about anywhere you stop to watch trains. (Just don't get on railroad property or the bulls get REAL excited)
Guess I'll get a good chance to talk to some this weekend while the club layout is on display. Put on a pair on striped overalls and the kiddies want to get their picture taken with the Conductor???
Y'all have a good one!

I remember that old song too.

'They're coming to take me away'

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to leave because I'd go berserk?

Well, you left me anyhow and the days got worse and worse and now you see I've gone completely out of my mind.

And They're coming to take me away Ha Ha

They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha

to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time, and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats

and they're coming to take me away ha ha

You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said that losing you would make me flip my lid, right? You know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed, you laughed and laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad.

And they're coming to take me away Ha Ha

They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha

To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes

They're coming to take me away ha ha...

I cooked your food, I cleaned your house, and this is how you paid me back for all my kind unselfish loving deeds. Huh? Well you just wait they'll find you yet, and when they do they'll put you in the ASPCA you mangy mutt.

And They're coming to take me away Ha Ha

They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha

To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice men in their clean white coats

They're coming to take me away Ha Ha

To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes

They're coming to take me away Ha Ha

Your home the one the bank foreclosed, You cried to me Monogamy is the way we both must live or you'll feel hurt. But, I see, I see there's someone new, your anxious polly-pure-bred coat was even gone at our place while I paid the rent, thanks!

And They're coming to take me away Ha Ha

They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha

To the loony bin with all you can eat prescription drugs like thorizine, and lithium, and electric shock and insulin

They're coming to take me away Ha Ha

Or something like that.

Evening, everyone.

If you'll indulge me for a bit, I have something I just have to unload. When I was with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department, I was involved in the search for Polly Klaas. This was in 1993. For those of you who haven't heard of this crime, you can read about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Polly_Klaas. I was the Incident Commander at the site where evidence was found about two months after her kidnapping. We searched this area for about seven days. I was in charge of about 500 searchers from SAR teams from all over the state. We knew who the suspect was for reasons I can't go into here. Richard Allen Davis, the scumbag that kidnapped, raped, and killed Polly finally confessed and led the FBI and Petaluma Police, who were the lead agencies, to the body. She was buried in a shallow grave about 22 miles from where we were searching. From evidence at the scene, he probably raped and killed her at our search site and then transported her body to a site just off the 101 freeway near Cloverdale, where he would know by driving by if her body had been found. Since her body was never at our search scene, seven days of grueling effort, mostly in pouring rain, became a footnote to the case.

I had to testify at the original trial but I was really a bit player. There was no doubt he was guilty and he was finally convicted in 1996. He has been on death row ever since filing appeal after appeal, while many of those who worked on the case have already died. I expect I will die before he does.

Last night, I got a phone call from a private investigator in California who somehow tracked me down to Alabama. The only way I can think he did so was to subpoena phone records from Verizon since he had my cell phone number and knew my address, something no one else would know. He wanted to ask me a series of leading questions regarding the actions of our department, the FBI, and Petaluma PD. I asked him who he was working for and he told me for a lawyer in Fresno who is filing yet another appeal, at taxpayer's expense, I might add.

I refused to answer his questions and he told me he could subpoena me and make me give him a deposition. I told him that was true but he'd have to pay for my expenses to get to and stay in California because I wasn't making any statements without the District Attorney advising me, since he was my attorney of record when I was with the department. I have no idea where this is going but it bought up a lot of really bad memories that I had done my best to forget. :(

I could tell this guy had been a cop before he became a PI from his questioning. I asked him if worked the streets and he said he did for 20 years. I asked him if he ever arrested any whores in his career and he replied "Of course". I then asked him how it felt to be one now and hung up on him. Probably not the best thing to do but I was hopping mad by then.

Sorry for the diversion but thanks for listening.

Jim, it sounds like you were more pleasant with him than most people would be. Hopefully he crawls back under his rock and the bad guy goes bye-bye.

Good morning.

It's a little on the cool side here. 38° and clear. The high is expected to be around 50° and it will be partly cloudy.

Yesterday I finally got the spark plugs and wires on my car changed. It runs a bit better now and I'm pretty sure the remainder of the problem lies with the fuel pump. I'm not looking forward to doing that job as it requires the removal of the gas tank. That's easy enough in itself but the rear end has to be raised three feet before it can be done. Not an easy job. On the mrr front I finished rebuilding my nephew's old Athearn caboose and now have it bringing up the rear on my general freight.

JIm- I sometimes wonder if we shouldn't go back to the Old West brand of justice with necktie parties and gunfights.
I know some innocent people were punished back then, but a lot more of the guilty ones were eliminated, too. We are still having gunfights between criminals and law enforcement.
I think there would be a lot less road rage and drivers would be more polite. I don't think we would have drive-by shootings if the targets had guns to immediately respond to an attack.
Along with fewer criminals, prisons and politicians, I probably would have gotten my *ss shot off due to a genetic dis-order known as "Irish temper".

On to more pleasant thoughts! Read Grande Man's thread on his good news.
Maybe, we can get some "insider" information on the park plans for future developement. I wonder if they would consider a new Historical Updates category for the forum.
Dern, work keeps getting in the way of my enjoying this forum!

If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous

"Who's on First?" sketch might have turned out something like this:

*COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT*

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking
about buying a computer.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.

ABBOTT: Your computer?

COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.

ABBOTT: What about Windows?

COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?

COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?

ABBOTT: Wallpaper.

COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

ABBOTT: Software for Windows?

COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals track expenses and run my business.
What do you have?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

ABBOTT: I just did.

COSTELLO: You just did what?

ABBOTT: Recommend something.

COSTELLO: You recommended something?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: For my office?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!

ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.

COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say
I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I
need?

ABBOTT: Word.

COSTELLO: What word?

ABBOTT: Word in Office.

COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.

ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?

ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue "W".

COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue "w" if you don't start with
some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my
money with?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?

ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.

COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?

ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.

COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

ABBOTT: One copy.

COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?

ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?

ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

(A few days later)

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?

ABBOTT: Click on "START".......

An Irish temper is bad enough but try combining that with Scot, Welsh, British, French and Native American and you have a very volatile cocktail. That's what I have to try to keep in check.

Good Morning to All,
It was a bit cool with lots of moisture this morning and 41*F earlier and a bit of high Fog but on the light side. Looks like it will probably be a nice day.

Hope everyone has a good day!

All ARG'ers check change of date on thread. http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9894

Let me tell you about my new glasses: The first of October I had my eye exam and ordered the glasses at Pennys; they came in; couldn't see out the bottom; sent off; came back yesterday; still couldn't see out the bottom. I demand money back; no problem...in 6 days. I went to different regular, non-discount, type optical company today and can get the glasses at their regular price, with better rims (titanium), and the same features for what the so-called 50% sale price was at Pennys.

Jeeze Jim, that is rough having the closet door opened. Hopefully, the PI saw that he wasn't going to get any support from your side and will leave you alone.

Jeffrey: So you are a Euro Native American with a short fuse. Me too, but only 1/32Native!:D

Mikey: I love that Glock talk! LOL :D

Afternoon, everyone.

Thanks for your support. I hope this turns into nothing but that's not under my control. I'm all in favor of appeals for people sentenced to death who's conviction was on circumstantial evidence. We've made some mistakes and DNA evidence has helped some innocent people go free. This guy is 100%, without a doubt, guilty. We probably still would not have found Polly's remains if he hadn't let us to the site. If I was king of the world, he would have gotten an hour to make his peace with the Lord after his conviction and then taken out back and shot. Unfortunately, I don't get to make those kind of decisions. I do have an invitation to his execution and, assuming I'm physically able to make it to San Quentin, I intend to be there to see him take his last breath.

Phillip, that "Who's on First" thing is absolutley hilarious. The worst part is that I can actually picture that conversation really happening. :D

Rex, I tend not be buy anything but underwear from Penny's for that very reason.

Chilly day down here in the Heart of Dixie. We did manage to make it up to 55 but the cold air is really settling in now. it's down to 39 already and I expect we'll see the low 20's tonight. Whoever left that dorr open up north can close it anythime they get around to it. :)

Glad it's unwindweekendtime,
Just been changing the sounds around in the tank, changing CV's and various files, sounds very cool now,,, bedtime

Later Hairy knee's and the rest of you
