"well she alive still:)" The Doctors are saying she may come home Friday:eek::confused:..... By the looks of her today, I say :confused:what:confused: she doesn't look strong enough to come home yet! So I got's to get the house ready for her arrival:):)

Hiya people,

I'm having a quiet moment at work so I thought I'd drop in and down a few...

Chris - glad to hear the hospital where your wife is at is a decent one, and that she'll be out of there quickly. My late father-in-law, when he had surgery for colon cancer back in 1999, was stuck in the hospital almost 2 weeks after his operation. His surgeon went on vacation immediately after the operation, and the doc covering for him didn't have a clue about my FIL's situation - to make a long story short, mistakes were made. FIL said that post-op period was closest thing to Hell on earth he ever went through!

All this talk about SmartCars: The first time I ever saw one, I knew it looked familiar but I couldn't quite place it - then when I was looking at some baby pix of my now-19yr-old daughter, I remembered:

...No thanks Mr. O, I'll keep my Durango for those 800-mile trips!

Tony - it's true, Woodstock is fairly close to I-70 "as the crow flies" - but it takes me ~7 minutes to drive there from the nearest exit because of all the zig-zagging. The B&O [now CSX] has a very interesting grade crossing there: it's near the end of a passing siding, so I often see trains parked there waiting for the opposing train to pass. This gives me time to race back to the house and grab my camera - I've snagged quite a collection of photos at that location.

Jeff - bummer about that mower blade. I often find similar landmines like that in my grass, ususally garden tools left out by the kids :mad:. So far nothing has totally destroyed my blades like that, but they've left a few notches

Larry - glad to hear you had a day off!

Rex/Karl - I'll try to remember to snap a photo or two of my project tonight, it won't be anything worth writing home about though. I might as well borrow some vehicles from Jim's layout to pose in the pix, I don't think he'll miss them - as long as I put them back in exactly their original places before he gets back!:D

Corey that's an interesting statistic about hospital admissions. I was reading one of my wife's med journals a few years back and they were predicting a severe shortage of nurses by about this time.

...oh well, bac2work. Sorry if I missed anybody.

Side note: called wife, she still ain't well yet. The doctors wisely see that now and postponed friday release!Thank God, I knew she wasn't that well yet. My guess knowing my wife Sunday late is the closest time i would bet on!

I think it's going to happen:(:mad: this group of yahoo's seem's hell bent on a cheaving their main goals! so far the man has set out to do what he say he's going to do! and for the most part has done some of it with little to no opposition! JMO, if you want a big SUV or Truck with the biggest V8 you can find....You had better get one now before they own the auto plants and stop making them and selling them:o:(JMO!

Good Evenin'---:):):)

Got a whole pile of work done today so now I get to have a 4 day weekend:):):D:D:D

Chris Good that they changed their mind!!:):) It does take a few days to get better--:):D:D--take care:D:D

Jeff My favorite land mines are tree roots:eek::eek: Can't see 'em in the tall stuff so----:eek::eek:

Have a good night people

OBTW: Know why those smart cars have two seats? One is fer you the other is for.....?

The other seat is fer your man hood! thats right just lob them in to the seat next to ya Cause no one else will look stuiped riding in that car with you!LOL's

Whew, long day, had to get the grass mowed when I got home. Well I didn't really have to, but with the daughters graduation this weekend and it being a long weekend I thought if I chopped it down now, I would be good for the whole weekend:D:D:D

So sounds like lots going on;

Jeff;
Man you gotta watch those stumps, they hear the mower coming and they just dive under the nearest pile of leaves!:D:eek::D

Ken; I may have to check that crossing out some time. Not sure when my next trip down that way will be, but I am planning a trip for a reunion with the old gang I used to hang with when we were teenagers. Not high school reunion, just a bunch of us old guys and girls from the old neighborhood who used to terrorize the street corners, should be fun...BTW, I'd like to see some of those pictures too, let's find some time and get them posted up:cool:

Chris; I guess they best keep the wife till she is doing good, no sense in making it worse by rushing things. Will keep the prayers and thoughts going man:)

Everybody's talking about Mr. O, tell ya what, if half the stuff you heard about this dude before he was the prez is true, we are in a world of hurt like no one has ever seen:eek:. Personally, I believe all the stuff, can't seem to find anything to disprove it. This country is going to be hurting'. I really wish it would not have to go that way, but I really do not see much else in the way of anyone caring to step up.

Well guys good talking with you all, I am off to the basement I have a few more nails to drive and then I will be close to deciding how much further I want to go with this first layout...If anyone needsme, you know where I'll be...:D

MMMM---:confused::confused::confused:

Horses may be quicker----:eek::eek::rolleyes:

I tried driving a chevette across your country---was not amused. Every time a truck went by, the windshield wipers went up:eek::eek: I only had enough space for my guitar and a coupla bags--and we're not talking big ones either. My amp was stuffed under the dashboard on the passenger side:eek::eek::mad:....Oh, BTW Chevette was 2 door. 4 cyl that choked on interstates, so spent trip on U.S. highways or State Highways---best way to see the country:D:D:D:D

Not long after reporting about bending the mower blade I got a call from my mother. She reported that my father had landed in the ER with bowel problems not long after he went to work.He's at home now resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery. It's going to be painful though. I can sympathize with him. Been there and done that! The best thing for him now is bed rest and drink plenty of water. It worked for me.

Howdy folks, Recovering from the big wet we had here in South East QLD on Wednesday.

We had 300mm or 12" of rain fall in my suburb in 24 hours from Tuesday night to Wednesday Night. :eek::eek:

Needless to say our home is on a slight hill with the house behind up higher than ours, creating a nice cascade into our house. At one stage the water was flowing about 4 inches above the lawn in our backyard, straight into the underneath of the house - where my room is! :rolleyes: Of course this is where my Model Trains and other such things, such as my Computer sit. Thankfully all appears to have escaped serious damage. The floor has wooden lock in floor boards which so far have yet to warp and twist, hopefully the damage to the floor won't be bad as we stopped most of the water getting in.

A place northwest of here received 383mm of rain in the same 24 hours, Our dams went from a combined total of 59% to 75% in a day. :) Gov't has declared our drought over.

Anywho, will be picking up some goodies tomorrow morning from the Hobby shop, will post pics of what I get. ;)

James.

Chris - at least the docs had common sense not to shove her out the door just to make the Insurance bean counters happy, I'll keep prayin' for her.

Tony I'll try to find those Woodstock crossing pix, a few are on Photobucket.

...
KenL: What...are you going to retire on that MRow:D. Let's see some photos; even construction pictures are great. ...

Ken About your Merchant's row stuff,,, I wanna see!!!!!!

Alright Rex and Karl, you wanted construction pix - you got 'em! I was out running family errands most of the evening, like having to wait an extra 30min at the pharmacy because a the fools lost a prescription that had been phoned-in for my 10yr-old daughter. Then I had to deal with other crises, like an ant invasion and my son's SAT scores might not be high enough for him to qualify for my employer's college tuition assistance program. Didn't get to the trainroom until ~9:30 this eveninig, so no time to setup the photo floodlights, the first shot is seriously overexposed. Layout surface is still smothered with tools and other debris.

I need to get to bed now, I feel like maybe I'm fighting whatever my daughter has...:confused:

Ken: Oh man, that is looking fine! Those poles with wires sure add a lot of realism and the brick coloring is perfect. I hope to begin getting serious about finish building and detailing my towns soon. It looks like a lot of fun work...meticulous, but fun.;):)

That's one way to end a drought. I hate it when we get all our projected rainfall for 6 months in a few days. I'm up on a hilltop so it's no big thing for me. My parents house is 34 feet lower than mine though and sometimes their yard drainage system gets overloaded and water starts flowing through the great room. They took this into account when the addition to the house was built and left a slight depression in the floor between the front and back doors. When the water starts coming in it follows this channel straight to the back door where it flows out into the back yard. With the exception of a few wet rugs they've had no problem with it. It takes a lot of rain for it to get that bad though. At least they're above the lakes flood level. Some of the neighbors aren't so fortunate however and the lake floods their homes at least once every two or three years.

Good morning.

It's 67 and partly cloudy. The high is expected to be around the mid 80's and there's a fair chance of thunderstorms. No wonder that I was in a rush to get the grass cut yesterday.

One good thing from yesterday. My sister isn't upset about one of the blades on her mower being bent. She'll just get another set to put on it. My BIL went through several sets a year before he went over to Iraq. On the parental front my father was doing OK last time I saw him yesterday. That was a bit scary with him landing in the ER the way he did. At least I won't have to watch him to make sure he does what the doc told him. My mother will see to that. She can be very persuasive, especially when she's got one of her cast iron skillets within easy reach. My father has gotten several dings over the years so he knows she's not to be taken lightly. In other words, what he says gos, what she says is law and supersedes what he said. I'm sure some of you married folks can attest to similar arrangements.

Mornin' guys:cool:

Well I finished up nailing down my track last night. Now it's on to wiring up the turnouts. Trains seems to be running good, the noise did go down a bit more, maybe it's no big deal, could just be me not experienced enought to know if it is normal or not. Anyway, still having fun with it.

Ken; Nice pictures! I hope to be able to have something like that someday on my layout. No hurry on the crossing pictures, whenever you have time is fine. Hope whatever you are fighting gives up easy, summer colds are no fun at all.

Jeffery; Hope things go well with your dad. It is kind of scary when you get a call that a parent is in the ER.

Well, I only have to work half a day today. I have to get up to my daughters college for some ceremony they are having this evening and then graduation tomorrow morning. I do not think I will get any train time today at all. But tomorrow I should be able to mess around some in the evening.

Hey have a great day...:D

You know Jimis still out of town! You go in through the unlocked door and grab is town off Jim's layout! It should work out nicely:D Just think the fun Jim will have rebuilding his town! He will thank you long time for the fun!

Good morning everyone---

Having a somewhat cloudy morning with the proverbial chance of rain.:rolleyes:

Going to have a busy weekend with some guys showing up for a band practice session----Chris do you think we can practice in Jim's basement? Mine isn't quite as large as his----;);)

Have a good one ---:):):)

Good morning folks.

Ken, that street scene looks amazing. Even without landscaping, it looks quite real to me. I've saved a picture of it for reference down the road. Great work!

Chris, they were saying up here that nurses would always be in demand as well. Not the case anymore. Our hospital let go of ALL LPNs in order to cut back on labor. That's one hundred nurses! People can only wait so long before doing elective surgeries though. There will probably be an onslaught of hospitalizations soon. They then will have to raise the prices in order to cover the new expenses!:rolleyes: Glad to here to wife is doing okay.

My wife and her family are slowing filling my entire weekend with obligations. I have a two day weekend and intend to do some modeling. There is no way I'm sitting around for two whole days watching the nieces and nephews play with sidewalk chalk. Of course, doing that, I sit and drink beer! Not a bad thing to do if you have nothing else you'd like to do. However, a person can only drink so much beer! I guess as long as the wife is happy right now, I'm happy.

The search goes on for a vehicle. I'm slowing transferring funds to my checking account in anticipation of a purchase. I'm taking my time in order to find exactly what I want. I'll probably send someone to the auction to see if I can find what I'm looking for there. I'll also get the best price possible.

I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning folks

It was 62 and hazy/foggy on the way in this morning. They say the fog will burn off and we will see the sun with a high of 85 F. The holiday weekend is supposed to nice with some clouds and some sun and temperatures in the eighties.

Not much happening last night. My daughter had a softball game. When I got home I had to do the hotel search for the weekend now that the wife decided she wanted to go somewhere. We will be going to Gettysburg for Sunday, and coming home on Monday. That will give us Saturday to do a few things around the house. Maybe I can squeeze some modeling in.

I hope everybody has a good day.
