Hi y'all,

I'm at the office so I gotta make this quick. I think my business district is finally "done", at least enough to shoot photos. All I have to do now is pickup some 1:87 autos I ordered from MB Klein, then clear all the tools, paints, etc off the layout.

Corey - so sorry to hear about your wife being laid off! And it sounds like it was somewhat political in nature - I never worked for a company where a person who lost their job could muscle their way into somebody else's!? At least the layoff came when you had been saving, that ought to decrease the pain a little bit.

Well, my wife will have her operation for her Krohns tomarrow at 5:30am!:( The whole family will be nervous until this is over. She is looking forward to this much needed operation and can't wait to get this over with:o Well I got to help clean the house........see ya wed night or thursday morning and let ya know how it went!

We got all the potting soil after we found out that the place we wanted to get it from was already out of it-----GRRRRRRRR:mad: We had to go to Home Despot to pick the stuff up, in small bags so's it took more space up. Found the only way I could get my foam in the car was to have them cut it into smaller pieces--and I STILL had to pack some of the stuff on my lap!:mad::eek: Oh well. It's all done thank goodness---:o;);)

Gonna have a peaceful few days with the cat--Audrey got invited to an overnight at one of our neighbours house to chaperone some of the kids who are getting ready for a field trip to Montreal QC for a few days. We had to go pack some stuff as she's going with them as well-----:D:):D:) I told her to watch for some trains while she was there and get some photos--she needs to work on her photography somehow!!:):):):D

Catchya inna bit---:):):)

I've seen stuff like that happen up here too. I think it's going to happen more as certain aspects of civility goes out the window----and I better shut my pie hole---:mad:

well off to see the hospital!

Everyone have a nice day, and BOC if ya going to get a truck or suv ya had better do it quick while they still make um and your still able to buy them with out a special permit!lol's also Make it a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD crew cab long bed, 4wd, diesel, with a banks turbo system installed and get all the toys! then chain your old car to it and treat it like a pull toy! OH and to make the truck eco friendly pour a quart of two cycle oil in to the fuel so it smokes a little extra down the hiway!LOL's

With the new cafe standards and the government is hell bent in not wanting them to be made any more.......a few more years and we'll all be riding bicycles to work and using Goats to mow our lawns!

Good morning.

It's 55 and clear. The high will be in the mid 80's and it will be partly cloudy.

Finished up the body work on the U30 rebuild yesterday. All that remains is to add decals for the roadname and numbers, ditto for the SD27J. I got my car back from the shop yesterday. The power steering line has been replaced and the steering is working great. The bill wasn't quite as high as I thought it would be, about $153. My father was happy to get his truck back. I have no plans for today. I'll probably clean up the layout some as it's a mess from the last few projects.

Good morning--

We're going to a high of 25C in the sun! Our friends who own a farm north of here are just now getting ready to plant---heck, they're only 2 1/2 weeks behind:rolleyes::rolleyes: It's supposed to cool down Friday--back to 19C as opposed to 30C on Thursday--tomorrow:):)

Chris That would be fun:D:D--except there is a small issue with mine wallet.:eek: Y'see, it wants to develop talons and dig into my leg when it goes near trucks of that size!!:):eek:BTW--Take care--Hope she does well!!:)

Got some morning paperwork at the office today--get to do some running around later---:):):)

Have a good one:D:D:D:D:D

Good morning folks.

We had a high of ninety eight degrees yesterday! This is after a high of fifty five this past weekend. Highs in the nineties today and then seventies the rest of the week. Talk about ups and downs!

Chris, I hope your wife's surgery goes well.

I've decided to wait on buying a car. I would like to see what my wife finds for work before I spend a bunch of money. I crunched the numbers and am not worried. She has quite a few contacts with some of her vendors that have had nothing but praise for her over the years. They have gone out of there way to communicate their pleasure with her work ethic and organizational skills to her superiors. I just hope that someone has room for her. Until then, she can take my car while I'm at work. That certainly sounds like the most responsible decision so far. We'll see how I feel about it tomorrow! I've changed my mind four times in twenty-four hours.

To trains to speak of for over a week. I've had other things to do lately.

Have a great day everyone.

Mornin' guys, got me a little break in the action here at work so I thought I could use a good cup of coffee.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far...:D

Chris; Hope all goes well with your wife's operation today!

Corey; Also sorry to hear about the wife's job, those things suck...:(

Phillip; Hey man, forgot to say congrats on the graduation! That's really great! I have a daughter graduating this Saturday with a double major, one in general education (early childhood) and the other in special education (K thru 12) and she did it in four years! The wife and I are pretty proud of her. Then next month our son is graduating with a two year degree in Fire Science and emergency medicine, next step for him is the national paramedic test. Pretty darn proud of him too...:D

Not much train time lately with the graduations coming up and the daughters wedding plans. Had to do a bunch of running aound with the wife last night looking for wedding junk. But at least I got to ride my bike for all the running around, so that was a blast as usual.

Well, have to get back at it here at work...

Talk to you guys later:cool:

Morning everyone!

Chris, been praying for your wife's surgery

Tony - what a coincidence, my daughter is also an Education double-major in Early Childhood and Special-Ed! She still has another two years before graduation though...

BOC - Glad the temps are back above freezing up there!

"Measure Twice..." I was putting the finishing touches on my business district last night when it occurred to me, I never examined the footprint diagram on the box of my Walthers 3-stall roundhouse that will someday be erected immediately to the right of the 'strip". Good thing I did, because I discovered it would've brushed against the outermost building (a stand-alone laundry). So I wound up relocating the laundry building to the side street. In hindsight, this worked out better for photography since now I don't have to worry about trying to keep that building in focus when I do a 'full block' shot. Still need to declutter the layout surface though.

Have a good'un!

Hi gang, time for lunch!

Not much happening around here. I have finally caught up with the honey-do's, all but the lower garage cleanup...still looking at it:o:o:D. I have managed to run some more block detection on the layout and soon will be able to start building some more kits. I just received the Walthers blower house for the blast furnace and also have the new rolling mill to assemble.

Have you guys been giving much thought to BO's demand for better gas mileage? I have to wonder how it will affect pickups and other trucks. Do you think we will have to pull trailers and loads with an electric, yeah right! :D? I smell a "use tax" coming for these vehicles. One day they will figure out that what you change in one area affects other areas and many times negatively.

Corey: that is bad news about your wife's job. I don't believe there is such a thing as a smooth path in life, but I guess all of these bumps make us stronger. Believe I would wait on that car and let things adjust a bit first ;).

Chris: We are all thinking about you and your wife. Can you hear us?:)

Tony: Always nice to see you here.

KenL: What...are you going to retire on that MRow:D. Let's see some photos; even construction pictures are great.

BOC: Got a space for me at the lake? Summer is moving in soon and we will need a cool spot for a few months ;).

Jeff: Sounds like a fair labor charge on that work.

Chris, Thoughts and prayers are with you and the Missus today.

I wonder if Jim is sunburned yet. I haven't heard of any planes going down due to "rubber band" failure or wings falling off. I have no room to talk here. The float plane we took into the bush in Canada for my moose hunt last year was built in 1947. Although we were assured that it had been modified over the years. New engine and such. I did worry me that we had (2)canoes filled with supplies tied between the pontoons, though.

Bob

Bob - I don't know if Jim has been able to get sunburned yet. There's been this low pressure system hanging between Florida and the Bahamas, it's responsible for hammering the East coast of Florida with a NE wind and rain - generally crappy beachgoing weather. If his island is directly on the other side of that low pressure, they might be getting high winds blowing from the south.

Didn't do much this morning. Got some laundry done then took the truck into town to pick up a couch table for my mother. I then had to get the thing into her house and situated where she wanted it. Ever place furniture for a woman? 'It doesn't look good there, move it over there', 'No, it doesn't look good there either. Move it over there'. After about a half hour it was in a place where it looked good. The first place it had been in! That was this morning. I'm still waiting for my back to stop hurting!

Looks like we have rain moving in for the weekend. That means I'll have to mow my parents yard tomorrow. It supposed to be 85 so I'll have to get started early.
