An ancient Mantua 2-8-2 that's part of my collection. I just fixed the motor in it and it runs like a champ.

Here are a few kits I finished up this past week. All are Northeastern Scale Models laser cut wood kits. Only thing I added was the roof shingles on them as they didnt come with any. None of the buildings have been weathered yet either.

First is a small passenger shelter.

Second is a house under construction. Ladders are loose and not glued down.

Some nice pics and some great finds this week!
I'm going to cheat and show off someone else's work.
One of the guys at the club, Joe "The Rock" Laroche did up the Walthers Union Station kit for the club layout: http://www.selkirktrains.com/
Click on "Photographs" then on "Union Station" to see the results!

What do you all think of photoshopped images? Here's one I made last weekend. Jerry Sheffield and Mike Talviste built the scenery, I made the train and took the background photo on Milwaukee's St Paul Pass in Idaho last July. The Milwaukee has been abandoned in Idaho for 31 years now.

Paul, nothing against photoshop but how about showing the 3 component images and a quick how to??

The image and underlying modeling looks great.

Here are the two images I used to make the above photo. I use Photoshop Elements and put the two images into two different layers. Then I use the eraser block to delete the background of the model photo. Since it is on top of the scenery photo the background gets replaced by Idaho's Bitteroot Mountains.

I adjusted the colors using the variations to get the rocks to be similar colors. The model rocks looked a little green. I used different lighting, contrast, brightness etc. tools to help the layers look like they belong together. When things looked good to me I merged the layers and sharpened the photo a little. Save as and post to web and share with the world.

It can be a little tricky to find two photos that work together with lighting angles and shadows. Cloudy skies make it a little easier.
