Jeffrey, good to see you back. Hope you're feeling better.
Chris, that's an amazing trestle.
DJ.

Some from a newbie

Hi Folks! I'm new here and thought I would join your little show & tell.
A couple of off layout shots of my modified DPM Seymour Block. Hey it even has my very own Toy and Hobby Shop in it. No that's not me on the billboard. The reason for the reversed back wall and odd angle cut is because it will sit up again a wall. Also from my photo album, The Fox Valley River Railroad, Donuts! Enjoy!

Jeffrey, that poor old steamer gets more overgrown every time I've seen it. It will soon be a big pile of kudzu. :)

Yeah, Chris, did you ever get anything else done on the trestle?

DJ, nice shot of the Alco with the horses and farm in the background. I just love your trees. Unfortunately, I didn't know about your method until most of my layout was covered, although I've done some of the downtown trees like you did yours and they look more like real trees. My daughter, being ever supportive, thinks my trees look like clumps of broccoli. :D

Gary, I can see that, although you're new here, you're not newbie at building structures. Nice kitbash job to fit that building in against a flat. Of course, being a retired cop, the donut shop is my favorite. ;)

It is good to see you start us off, Jeff. :)

Grampy, stunning clarity of focus. I wish I could achieve it.

vato loco, your trestle is downright scary! It would have to have been over a very deep gorge. Well done. :D

Gary, nice stuff. Maybe I will build a kit this winter. Thanks for the inspiration. :D

Here is my shot. A double-header of UP power in the form of a 2-10-2 and a greyhound Challenger. After I shot this, and had a friend on another forum spruce it up with a sky and smoke, I remembered I haven't weathered the rails in this section. I had to rip them up and relay them so that the engine on the front would not derail in this section. I got the engine in February.

The Layout was busy tonight.

IC 9404 was switching some coal cars.
LV FA/FB bringing in loaded eastern coal
C&NW 1663 was parking empties at the elevator.
IC Mountian was stageing empties in the yard so that the 2-8-0 can bring them down to get loaded.

SW, it looks like a nice loco and set of cars but it's kind of hard to see because of the flash. If you have a tripod, try a shot without flash, an F stop of 8, and about a 1 second exposure. The details will come out a lot better.

Crandell, now were talking about some real locomotives. :) That Challenger in the greyhound scheme is outstanding - who made it? I was thnking of making a scene where new rail was being laid between trains and having some look new, mixed in with exisiting weathered rail. Just an idea.

Trent, some mighty fine pictures. I like the light and shadow effects. I really want to know about that bus. Is it really lighted or was it done in a photo editor. Looks good either way but, if it's really lighted, where did you get it? It would be perfect waiting at my station for whatever railroad I'm in the mood for passenger train.

Unemployment has put a hault to it. The way the picture is..........Is how it sits until I start working steady again.........and I was going to start the rock work too!

As usual, great stuff from everyone!

Gary - I like the idea of reversing the rear wall on a narrowed background building. It really adds more perceived depth by the increased height.

Jim, is the reason police cars are mostly full sized vehicles because of the donut shops? ;) ( sorry my friend, I couldn't let that one slip by )

Hey Bulldog guy,
I love the way you lit up thhe Greydog!
UP2CSX, I didn't take the pictures that night. My hands were too bad. But don't worry, one of these days I'll pickk up a tripod. I know it will help, a lot!:p

Thanks for the kind words guys. No, I'm not new to modeling of any kind. I don't think I've not worked on some kind of model any year since I was five. So about fifty years experience in my work. I do have a habit of never quite finishing things. You'll see a lot of that in my post. This is the year I complete my railroad the goal is Christ 2010. After that, finishing touches and actually run it. So here some urban modeling, again incomplete oh yeah and some more Donuts!

I haven't posted any pics in a while. Been busy bringing the RR out of its' coma and sorting and organizing all that stuff that was put away long ago. In between those archeological digs I've been working on a few new structures. Here are 2 more:

I have a narrow shelf about 7 inches wide and 4 feet long between the main line and the wall that will be an industrial siding with background buildings. The first is a modified River City Textiles with a few added details. The water tower and support was removed from the left side and the elevator shaft and head was not used on the right. Roof details and platform clutter still to be added.

The caboose in the foreground is a modified Atlas undec NE6 - NKP version.

City Classics gas station for an as yet to built area so no weathering will be done until needed to blend in with everything else. Typical junk and clutter will surround it also.
