Bridge and Building Dept
My favorite (so far) photos of the Texas & Great Plains machine shop. This piece is going to be one of my contest entries at this weekends Houston train show.

Matt, that is amazing! I am assuming O scale?

I have been working on a scratch built backwoods style engine house. So far I have drawn out what I want to build (been changed 3 times so far...) and started to build it from the ground up.

Here is what I have accomplished so far (I have decided this one will be and experiment with a, hopefully, much better one for contest later). It will have to be removable so the floor has to be built in sections.

Flooring is made of scale 1"x 4"x 8' lumber that has been "weathered" with an India Ink/Alcohol wash.

Ray: Yes it is O scale on the machine shop. Your floor looks good, only thing I would suggest is you check clearance at the upper left corner, you might have to trim the roof overhang back as it looks like it will be close.

Grampy: Very nice job on the trailer/flat combo.

Will do! It will be close, but I think there will be room. The only thing that might cause a problem would be the occasional box car brought in with supplies to the logging settlement. BTW, what would you suggest as a source of 1925 vintage machine shop equipment in HO?

Ray: SS Ltd makes 5-6 belt drive machines which are ideal for that time frame. They also have a nice selection of small tools to toss around.

Isn't it amazing what you can find in a box of Cracker Jack? I should be able to have some fun with this. It's Tyco but what the hey. I received it in a package with a bunch of other cars that were made around the same period. Two from Tyco, two from Bachmann, four from Mehano and one from AHM.

Matt, I showed my wife your pictures and she couldn't believe they were models. She can usually pick out even the good ones so you've got be really good to fool her.

Ray, that's a lot of little pieces of stripwood. Looks great so far though.

DJ, nice looking flat car conversion and trailer weathering.

Josh, you must have been doing some work on that Ford plant or I missed your updates. All the trucks and auto racks really make that scene.

Jeffrey, I remember having one of those weird tank cars. I never could make it stay on the track no matter what I did.

Looking good everyone!

I spent a day at the club taking pictures of the layouts.

An MTH Challenger rolls by, pulling an ARMY passenger train.

Jeffrey, are those the trucks that came with the cable car? If so, they ain't right. :)

Adam, I must admit that MTH did a great job with the Challenger. Nice looking club and photos also.

Yeah now that Jim mentioned it, you might have a bit of a problem there Jeff, those arent powered trucks, and theres not couplers on that car, I do beleive we have a sitting duck here. :D:rolleyes:

A covered hopper was dropped off at the Fuerst Matthes Mill last night when it set off the defect detector in Huard shortly before midnight.
Here's the crew raking in a little OT on the weekend, I couldn't see just what they were replacing tho.

Sitting duck is exactly right. I knew it was a dummy when I saw it. I was already sure that the trucks weren't the right ones but rather look light freight trucks or maybe from a light tender. I can see the somewhat rough edge at the end of the trucks where the coupler were cut off. It was made in China but it doesn't say by who. The trucks suggest Bachmann but we already know they're not right. It would look good as a static display that's not too close to the front of the layout.

Jeffrey, I have about 3 or 4 of those streetcars. Readers Digest gives them away when you renew their magazine for 3 years. Everytime someone gives me an HO scale car that's what I get. I have 3 or 4 of the Green ones too. Chrome plastic wheels & all. If you want anymore let me know & I'll send'm to ya.
EBay is always selling them & they start out the bids about 8 to 10 bucks & they're worth about 99 cents.
