I’m looking to utilize the Walthers oil loading platform kit as both a loading and unloading facility. Has anyone made modifications to this kit for unloading or have any suggestions on how I can go about it?
I’m modeling 1960s with a single track unloading one tank car at a time.
Thanks in advance for the help!
To unload a tank car, all you need is a hose and a pump. The platforms / pipes are for loading multiple products. Add a ground level pipeline with hose connectors on either or both sides of the platform.
While generally both loading and unloading don't occur at the same location, that doesn't mean that there are not examples somewhere. For loading, use the kit as intended. For unloading, adding a hose and somewhere to store the liquid is all that needs to be added.

Sounds simple enough, thanks!

I bought the kit with the idea to do both in the same location but that would make sense to have both processes separate from one another. I will have to think on how I want to proceed. Thanks for the information!

Do you have enough space for something like these ?
I am planning on using the Walthers Industrial Tanks set to “kitbash” an oil distribution center.
I will probably use only two tanks from this set for the distribution center and the rest for something else, either on this layout or a future one.
If you can find one of these Williams Brothers kits, I believe the tanks are better looking than the ones offered by Walthers.

I’ll keep these in mind for the next build. Since I already have the Walthers kit i’ll use it, but those Williams Brothers tanks look great!
