Trainman back some 40 years ago that’s what happened when I worked as a holster in Brewster, NY. The engine would come in and they would open all the engine doors check the coolant, oil, brakes, fuel, clean the loco and add sand. So that’s what I set out to create. I cut the doors out and replaced them with plastic strips and something I had that looked like latches. I took out the real motor and replaced it with a Walther’s EMD plastic motor. I used some Walther’s road way for the pad and small electrical wire for the fueling hose and steam generator water lines. I cut a covered hopper in half for the sand storage and made the sanding tower out of my extra parts draw. That’s the type of sanding tower we had at Brewster. There’re a compressor building in the back which forces the sand up to the tower.
