Using Paint Pens on Previously Painted Track

With my 1 ft x 6.5 ft shelf layout build, I’ve made a few mistakes here and there. One of these mistakes is accidentally getting some IPA on the track that I have painted. This has created a few areas here and there where the shiny rail is visible.

These areas aren’t horrible but I would like to fix the issue if possible. With that being said, can I go over the already painted rails with paint pens?

I did a little bit of research but I couldn’t find anything on this. Any feedback would be really helpful:)

I’ve used a felt pen for touchups with good results, would that be the same thing?
You could try on the backside on one section as a test.
I’m not sure if they are technically the same thing but I imagine they would work for touchups. I guess I will have to try the backside of a section and go from there.

Another thought occurred to me. Does anybody know if using acrylic paints applied with a small fine-bristle brush would work as opposed to the paint pens? I’m thinking maybe I can color match using some acrylics I have and apply it delicately with a small brush on all the areas that need a touchup.

I’m wondering if I just suck at painting then lol
Nope! No one really sucks at painting. Some are just better than others.

Don’t be intimated. Just try the tools you have and if you don’t like it move to another tool. Brushes, air brush or paint pens! I’ve used even brown Sharpies. You’ll find what works for you.

Aryclics are very forgiving and wipe off with Isopropyl Alcohol usually fairly easy.

I’m sure I can get the results I want. It will just take some trial and error:)

I'm a modeler of limited experience so take this for what it's worth but I've painted rails with acrylic paint and brush and was happy with the result. If you originally painted the rails that way (not sure if you did) I would think touching it up that way would work.

Good to know! I used spray paint for the tracks but I’m sure if I could color match with acrylics, I could touch up the rails with little notable difference.
