Ken - Good luck in court. While it seems to be an open and shut case, lawyers can complicate things considerably. Didn't you previously post that his wife paid the club back?
....
Yes, his wife did give us a cashier's check for the total amount. The police report process was started upon our first discovery of the activity. The treasurer had lied to us with two different stories before we figured out what really happened. After he confessed to us on the Zoom call, he promised to return the money through a bank loan by a specified date. He missed that mark along with several more promise dates after that. Now we know he had no intent of taking out a bank loan. The final point was that he kept this all secret from his wife until he was finally cornered and couldn't conceal the problem anymore. It probably would have been different had he manned up to it on first discovery, but it's because he continued the lying and deception past the repayment date that he agreed to is why I followed through with prosecution action. It wasn't him who made the effort to pay the money back. It was his wife's urgent effort. As far as I'm concerned, he would still be dragging his feet now if I hadn't taken the legal action.

Good Morning All!

42F @ 85% with drizzle.

Been getting stuff done between the rain and wind. I guess that there was not much or either, but I get cold easy even with my 32F's on. Oh well, still have some time before white.

Cooking: I do most and trash the kitchen. Well, do rinse pan's or bowl's during the process but let stuff stack up neatly up to wait for the dishwasher. I am happy with a 75% load and do them then. Wife trashes the kitchen, except she does not do any rinse or whatever. Stuff is left out on the counter where ever it was last used, and the counters do not get wiped down at all. Oh well, she does all the clothes washing and cleans the bathrooms and does the floors! Fair trade? Maybe, maybe not.

John: I love to cook and think it is pretty much a blast. Start simple then expand on what you know. We almost never use anything boxed or canned with a few exceptions. Check the labels on some of that crap and you will see why; salt and sugar are the most nefarious, sometimes added carbs. Mac and Cheese is very easy - for us, 1 cup of dry Noodles, 4 slices of processed Cheese ( Velveta does work, about 1/2" slice ), Butter, Milk and Sour Cream. Put Noodles with a few drop of cooking oil ( Bacon grease works too ) in sauce pan, run hot water until it is hot and cover those noodles about 1/2". Put on stove and boil until somewhat soft; as you want them a little firm. You will notice while boiling that Glutinous stuff from the Mac will foam up. Takes about twice and the firmness we like happens. Drain and rinse with hot water. Let them sit for a bit. In the same pan, drop in about 1/4 cup of Butter, couple of tablespoons of Sour Cream with a little Milk and let that turn to sauce ( ya need to stir it while heating on a lower heat value ). When soft and creamy, drop Noodles and stir. Yummy. Oh, Salt/Pepper/Garlic to taste. I get a hair up once in awhile and add chopped Ripe Olives, and/or sliced Mushrooms, and/or chunked Italian Sausage, browned Hamburger, Bacon or Ham chunks. You can put just about anything that excites your taste buds in the stuff!

Me thinks that today or tomorra I will be done with the 'get ready for winter stuff'. I have done almost nothing except work on the house since spring and it is getting old. Ya, progress but I want some me time!

Good morning, all! Still warm, well hot, here in H- Town. Rain in the forecast for Halloween.

David - Good luck, hope all goes well. In the US websites use cookies. Do UK sites use biscuits. :D:D:D:D
John - Start simple. Once you get a couple of meals prepared and you get comfortable with cooking you'll be wanting to attend classes at Cordon Bleu in Paris. (Paris, oo la la, not the Paris up the road from Willie)

De Bums - My favorite player was Gil Hodges. I remember the Boys of Summer, Gil, Duke Snider Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese. I would listen to the games on a little crystal radio. Gil Hodges was the manager for the Mets when they won their first World Series in 1969.

For cooking, I used to enjoy doing it, especially since most of my wife's attempts resulted in burnt offerings.
Since it's now just me, I don't feel it's worth the effort to spend the better part of an hour every evening making dinner for only myself. Sometimes I'll make a pot or pan of something, and eat leftovers over the course of several days, but usually I just nuke a healthy choice meal and be done with it.

To quote the Stark motto in Game of Thrones: "Winter is Coming". Last night I took Carley out for her potty break and we saw over 500 geese flying in individual groups all heading East(?)...I thought they would fly South; but they always leave in the winter heading East. This morning when I took Carley out, there were just a few geese in the sky, and about 10 landed in the pond in out back yard. Their landing plan goes directly over our side yard and they are fun to watch (with mouth shut tightly) land. It was 28 outside this morning. In the past years we have seen the few later leavers land on our frozen pond...The pond is still slightly frozen when they return in the spring; but they can spot the water part easily. We get the Canadian geese...with some gray heron every now and then. I used to stock the pond with gold fish and the heron came for them. The fish will grow as big as their water area allows, so the grow quite long. Walmart stopped selling goldfish; so that ended that

Afternoon all,

Walked in and hit it hard for the first day back. 2 new hires that we got notices for after City Hall closed on Friday. HR works a bunch after hours.

Currently 85° and windy. Sustained 28 mph winds with 42 mph gusts thus far. Higher expected overnight and into tomorrow. Expected to break record highs here today. We're under Red flag and Fire danger warnings for the next 36 to 48 hours. Then cooler by the end of the week.

John\Joan and David: Best for your procedures. Prayers for the best outcomes.

Troy: I voted last Monday when the early polls opened. I expect the polls to be backed up and when I work 10 hour days that last thing I want to do is wait in a line. Funny how my phone is now lighting up for candidates of both parties. Only had a couple before voting started.

Why can't Tyrannosaurs clap???

They're dead.

Something totally new to me from the USPS, that my wife signed up for. It's called USPS Informed Delivery. Every morning between 7:30 and 8:00, we receive an E-Mail from the local Post Office stating how many pieces of first class mail and packages we're to expect that day. It includes pictures of all of the particular envelopes for that day. No third class mail or advertising junk. This is especially useful to us since our mailbox is 1.25 miles down the road. It helps determine whether or not it's worth making the trip down to get the mail. I'll sometimes go for 3-4 days until I have to drive by anyway.
Is this service offered in your area??? Do you use it???

Terry and I voted this morning. No matter who wins I will respect the office not necessarily the person occupying it. No matter who wins I am expecting an anxiety filled time. I hope I can handle it

Willie. We’ve had informed delivery for quite awhile. At first it was because our mailbox was almost a mile from the house by the twists and turns of the driveway! Now it’s maybe 60’ from the front door, but the same postal servant, a good guy!

I've been signed up for it for several years. I find it very helpful even though my mailbox is 25 ft across the street.

We have it, but it sometimes shows something that then doesn't come until the next day. It's gotten worse since USPS wants to shutdown the Wichita sorting station.

That's funny. The dinosaurs are dead.
Case is completed.
The embezzler pleaded to misdemeanor theft and will have 12 months' probation. If no other offenses the matter will be expunged from his record.
The prosecutor made the offer without consulting me first and he accepted it. I protested the expunging part because of all the turmoil left in his wake of covering it up, misdirecting us, lying to us about our finances, then more lying about paying us back. In addition, it cost the president of the club his seat as president and our club credit rating is in the gutter and will remain there for years to come.
I looked her right in the eye and said, "so in a year, he can apply for a job at the bank where you keep your savings and you would be OK with it if he ended up as your account manager, right?" A moment pause, then a smirk and she acknowledged the circumstances. Well, it is what it is, so we move on.
Back to trains now. Gonna go downstairs and twiddle with the signal system some more.
