Morning!
I guess I'm going ice-fishing on this beautiful, warm day. The wife is holding me at rod-point, sensually rubbing my ear with the short rod tip from behind and asking me if I want to do it. - Go fishing that is.
May as well go fishing. It's 24° out right now and heading up to the low 30's by afternoon with no wind. So ice-fishing it is; I suppose the rod-tip foreplay worked!

I'll have a steak-n-cheese loaded omelet on toast, smothered with onion and fresh tomato. And lots of coffee to go with it. I can pee on the lake; nobody ever sees anything with that much social distancing in play.

Thanks for the likes on yesterdays post!

Here's photos for today. A Procor funnel-flow type tanker, so called due to that slant configuration toward the middle of the tank. Although, I still don't know why the slant from either end is necessary on this type of tank car.
These photos are from both sides and the end:

Anyway, I need to go load toboggan's and ice-auger into the truck, and put the long-johns on. See you in the morning!

Morning, I think ... very dark at 41 degrees going up to 72 (YAY) for a high. Looks like a day to gather in the Christmas lights for another year. Half of them will go into the trash, over half of them decided that they don't want to shine this year, and it's like 1/3 to 1/2 of like every other strand? -- but I may check a couple fuses just to satisfy myself. The Spousal Unit said to just "chunk" them.

FLO - Coffee and tell MEL that I need one of his "everything but the sink" omelets with extra bacon. Some sourdough toast and a glass of OJ should finish it off?

Well, I made the jump this morning and purchased the Turbo Tax program.
I have not heard anything as to someone else taking over the business, or anything from the office staff? I better start making myself familiar with the program.

GUY - Don't guess that I have to tell you to NOT eat the yellow snow/ice?
Good luck on the ice today!

Good morning from frosty but sunny So. Central Wisconsin, first time in 7 days we have seen the sun.

Day 5 of January and Coffee Shop is on page 8, lots of action here.

I have a noon appointment for my Covid test. After 2 positive tests before the holidays, 2 weeks of isolation except for Terry and feeling as healthy as ever, I am getting nervous. Thankfully, I have my trains and the internet.

Be safe, be heathy, stay distance
wear the mask

Willie- Happy Belated Birthday! I see you joined the Rolling Stones club too! Ouch! Hopefully all is on the mend.

Everyone else good to see all the ongoing posts. I have been jumping back into the groove at work today. Ugh the vacation was nice while it lasted.

I have a few updates I need to post on the layout progress and acquisitions for the RPO thread. I did lots of painting, construction of shelves etc. I had to order another charger for my laptop as it was a refurbished one that failed grrrr. nonetheless a new one is on the way. As soon as that comes in I will be back up and running.

Weather here is wacked. Mild weather the last few days a little snow here and there nothing to write about but I guess we have a cold front coming towards the end of the week and looking at single digits. I am still burning wood as much as possible to keep from burning oil. So much cheaper

Gotta go! Ya'll take it easy!

Good Morning Everyone.....over-cast sky and a light snow last night that barely covered anything.

Sherrel: You'll like Turbo Tax its easy and specially easy if you have all your information ready and at hand. Even with me doing the long form I like the program.

The refrigerator guy was here for repairs to our two month old refrigerator. He said that most new refrigerators are built very poorly and not worth the money. Most manufactures build only one variety of unit that are packaged in different shells. Found out that the lower level temperature setting controls the freezer too.

Worked yesterday on a Athearn locomotive that I gave it a over haul. I replaced the original wheels with NWSL units, replaced the incandescent lamps with Day Glow LED's from Miniatronics and installed a NCE DA-SR decoder. Cleaned up the gears and towers and it started at speed step #1 and is smooth, but has a little noise at speed. Tomorrow, I'll run it on the mainline for a couple of hours to break it in. Most earlier Athearn locomotives have some noise.

Tom: I like your mill complex. Great workmanship.

Trussrod: Montanan is doing fine and he's the proud Dad of new Doxie that he found to give his other Doxie some canine companionship.

Yesterday, Cathy saw a small washer on the layout's room carpet. She mentioned her finding during Happy Hour and she went and retrieved the washer and it turned out to be a thrush washer from a locomotive I disassembled a year or more ago. I never replaced the washer and the locomotive runs just fine.

I had a Jade Plant that I brought from work in 1984 in a three inch pot and I cut it back several times. It grew into a small tree and stayed in the four seasons room in the spring through the fall. The plant started to show some stem rot so I made some cuttings and started seven new plants. Three plants from cuttings in water, three cuttings that I just placed on the counter before planting to callus over and one plant that was originally a leaf that rooted. The cutting are now 18 inches tall. One leaf is start another plant by rooting on a bamboo stake!!! The window in our dinette looks like a greenhouse with my Jade and Cathy's violets and cacti plants.

That's about all for now...........................

Greg

Good Morning all. Another beautiful day in the making. Weather geeks say a front will move in tomorrow and we'll get cold again.
Nothing new from the train room. I did find the Waybill program. I think I can use part of it or at least the idea.
Not sure if I'll get any train time today. Weather being nice we may go for a ride.

STAY SAFE

Never really got into the animated series as such.

The trouble with tribbles is in the "orignal" series . It was just on last week . We must have a lot of people that watch H&I . I can only stand it up to about the 5th or 6th season of Next Gen , After that that DS 9 is just a soap with all the appeal of an unconsumated porno film (last night episode was the Alt Uniiverse Lez Fest they make the girls kiss each other and then nothing happens) and Voyager is the little old lady who lived in shoe with so many children that they develop serious emotional issues.

"More Tribbles, More Troubles" was an episode of the 70's animated series. The "trouble with Tribbles" as you said was in the original 60's live action.

While I know the characters, I never really got into Next Generation or anything after. I do however have the movies on DVD (original cast, next generation and the 2000's remakes). And yes Star Wars as well.....

Afternoon All, Spent the morning running errands and going to the LHS for Code 83 flex track. After getting home I glued down the last the cork roadbeds in the yard. Hopefully I'll be putting the track down tomorrow then the track laying is complete. While working with the cork I ran the train in the opposite track direction for 70 minutes without issue. Tomorrow I'll do the same with my 2-8-8-2. On my last layout I had frequent derails so I'm very happy at this point.

Joe- Interesting photos and facts.

TomO- I think the facility looks great. In the first photo what are the stairs on the concrete island for?

Troy- Interesting photo.

Jerry- Nice photos of the BN hoppers.

Dave LASM- Great layout shot.

Willie- Very nice layout shots.

Guy- Nice tank car photos.

Greg- Very nice layout shot.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Evening fellers. I hope everyone is doing well. Worked on the layout some more last night. Well attempted to anyways. My drawn up idea isn't going to work. This is a trend with this layout build. So I have to think outside the box to achieve what I picture in my head. Been placing orders for things that will be needed in the future. Ordered sculptamold which will be here thursday. Well hopefully thursday. More gluesticks for the glue gun. And I'm updating my walk around throttle. Placed an order for a varipulse 852B throttle today. I had been on the fence on a throttle for awhile. I chose Ken Stapletons throttle mostly for ease of installation and price. His throttle should wire in the same as my current throttle. He is quite friendly to talk to as well and is timely in responding to emails. I had given gml a thought as well. I'd like to have one of their rovers. As I dont have a basement layout build in my future the rover would be sufficient for me. I would have to do a fresh install with a gml though. So there was that and the price point. However I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for and I'd imagine the gml throttle is probably worth every penny. Just the thought of a happy wife is a happy life played through my head. And trying to justify the price of a gml would be like pulling teeth. Anyways that's all I have for now. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes yesterday. For those that haven't reached this plateau yet, don't fret it. Other than weight and BP, I am no worse off than when I was 50. Not as agile as when I was 40, but the weight has something to do with that. Yes, I am quite hearing impaired, but that's been ongoing for over 20 years due to sitting in the front rows of concerts and my earlier use of headphones during and immediately after my college days. It's my own fault.

Willie: A belated Birthday Wish and you are doing very well in-spite of any hearing problem which one of my friends who is married has had a hearing problem well into his married life for the last 40 years and he has no plans for any hearing aids since he doesn't need any more Honey Do Lists from the wife.

Howdy .....

Boris .... That was a massive fire in the picture you posted. I like the reading commuter coaches.

Dave LASM .... That is a great scene with power shovel and bulldozers at work.

Willie.... I like your layout photos with scrap metal company, etc.

Greg ..... Your picture is excellent. Great scenery and nice weathering of freight cars.

Tom O ...... Your grain elevator industry is massive. Your railroad will be hauling a lot if grain.

Justin, look in to a program called SCARM. Does a pretty good job when designing a layout. Even has a 3D mode.
