Good Morning All. 30° and cloudy. So far the freezing rain and sleet is staying south of us and is clobbering the Dallas/Ft Worth area. It's as close as 25 miles away and
may not drift this far north. It's actually a pattern that we see many times, it's moving NE. Still expecting temperatures in the 60's by Friday.
Today's the first day of work for my wife at H & R Block, where she will attempt to explain the new tax laws to folks that don't pay taxes anyway. It's too early to file, but they can apply and pay dearly for an early advance against their expected refund or in most cases their Earned Income Credit, which is a fancy term for redistribution of wealth from my pocket to theirs. They will all be expecting more this year, but she will have to explain that the larger refunds only go to those that actually earn an income and pay taxes to begin with. Those clients will come later this month. As a matter of conversation, she usually asks them what they are going to do with the money. Number one is generally "get a family member out of jail", followed closely by "pay the rent". Not surprisingly in third is going to the casino on the reservation about 10 miles north in Oklahoma.
Had a nice visit from my granddaughter and her parents yesterday, but they didn't bring the mini-bike as planned. Whoops! They needed to add gas and oil to it before they could run it and since they use a lawn service, they don't own a gas can! No time for those things before they left home. I have both but they didn't say anything until they got here. Duh!
Nothing new to report from the train shed, as I didn't even visit there yesterday. I'll make up for it today.
Phil - Glad to know that you are feeling better.
Mike - I remember those days of eleven days of time off when I was still working. I miss them!
Louis - Although I saw a couple of posts recently, I miss
Rodney's posts here on the forum. Good to read that all is well with him.
I don't see Memorial Stadium in that map of Baltimore that you posted this morning!
Sherrel - Glad to read that you're feeling a little better.
Saw a few new faces in the Coffee Shop yesterday,
Jim, Scott and
AmtrakCr71408. Glad that you guys could stop by. Don't be strangers, come back often. And a hearty re-welcome to
Justin, the new papa.
Well time to start remembering that it is 2019 when I write dates. Harder to remember now that I am retired and don't have to sign stuff at work all of the time, or write checks every time I purchase something!
Everybody have a great day. Looks like crappy weather for everyone except
Phil and
Curt.
