Some weekend humor. 🤣

Not only WOW but so sad. No wonder USS Pennsylvania was an 'Angry Sister'.
Yeah, for sure.
Joe - RMD rules were pretty relaxed until that tax reduction bill in 2017 tightened things up a bit. The 10 year rule is causing me to take money that I don't want or need yet.
That does make me feel better. I retired at 60, (RR Full Retirement), but the wife wasn't eligible to collect for an additional 3½ years. Our plan was to use IRA funds to make up the difference. It worked for us, but that was one brutal tax hit. I could have worked longer, but I was ready to retire.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those without Holiday trains

I found this channel on the U Tubez.

Piano music is decent for holiday tunes. Looks like a lot of repetition of the same shots of the same small layout. But it's a Modell Railroad with holiday theme.

Good morning all!

Our warming trend continues. Currently sitting at 35 degrees going up to 55 later today under mostly sunny skies.

Another day of baking, and dish duty for me.
Here's the first batch for today coming out of the oven. These have MMs and are made with pudding. There really hard not to eat one everytime I pass through the kitchem. Had 3 already this morning.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 45°, light showers are coming in about another hour. Won't last long. The rain that was forecast for overnight yesterday, came between noon and 3:00. Left right around 0.35" in the gauge. Just yucky outside and will be until late this afternoon. Low to mid-60's for 8 of the next 10 days according to our forecast. Chilly Tuesday and Wednesday after the cold front Monday night.

Never picked up the chainsaw yesterday in spite of the best intentions. Since the rain was coming 6 hours earlier than forecast, I brought in lots of dry wood, for yesterday and today. That wasn't all though, I did about an hour of garden preparation for spring planting in about 60 days. Those bumped the chainsaw off the agenda.
Nothing planned this morning except Church. Always a respite from chores and tasks.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued along with the new version of the cardstock structure. I don't remember whether I took any progress pictures, but it doesn't matter. The camera is still out there and I ain't walking through the dark and wet yard in the cold mist, while I'm still in my bathrobe.
So, let's go to the archives for some animal pictures on the layout. First up are a couple from Mini-Prints. These I painted and detailed.

This skunk is an altered and painted cat.

And a few cougars from Woodland Scenics.

These all represent animals that I have seen and photographed on my evening walks; although we refer to Cougars as Mountain Lions in this region. Sounds more menacing.

Bob -
I will be building a 42” radius helix. I wish I could get one of those kits for that. Would save me a lot of time!
There are several builders who will build you a kit for a custom radius helix. Do a web search for "custom helix kits" and there are a few listings.
I can't vouch for any of them since I have no helix.
Troy - Best wishes for your MIL.

A couple of late musicians share birthday's today. Jim Morrison (The Doors) was born in 1942, and Greg Allman (Allman Brothers Band) was born on this day in 1947.

Everyone have a sensational Sunday.

Good Morning All!
34F @ 90% somewhat clear.

Cats beat UTep 49 to 17. UTep was not a 'rated' team, got to the 1st playoff by working really good. Cats now have home field in Bozo for the next game and final if next is won.

Have a stuffed up stove and one with the igniter questionable.

Stuffed up one is pretty simple - leaf blower and vacuum to get it cleaned out. I engineered a plywood plate that takes the place of the clean out drawer with hole for blower and vac. Used it yesterday on the house stove - almost zero dust got into the air. Much better than holding the vac and blower with the glass door open. Maria is a happy camper not having to dust just because a stove get blasted out.

Igniter is pretty simple as I have that down to a science. Tip stove forward on a 2 stacked plastic milk cartons. 7/16" socket on long extension and it is out and new back in under 1/2 hour. Igniter is clear down near the bottom front of the stove and impossible to reach with a nut driver as the contortions needed are beyond me. I have come to the conclusion that the length of the exhaust vent has to do with the lifetime of the igniter. One stove in the Train Cave has a 3 foot run to get outside, all the others are longer. That stove is on its' fourth year now, no igniter needed. Ya, soon as I say that...

Also today, I am going to build an outside air line/hose for the input to the burn pot for the 2 inside stoves. Have everything AND there is already a hole in the log and stick built wall so no drilling. Just need to clean out the foam insulation and it is a done deal. Line is already in for one of the Train Cave stoves, the other needs a hole to appear in the wall.

Later

I forget if I posted the MIL update:

Retaining fluids due to cardiac issues (she's got a defib/pacemaker), and a UTI. No Pneumonia. But the excess fluid explains the lung issues.

I finished the edit of the current book, and got it sent out to the "Alpha Strike Team" They'll tear it apart and let me know where I screwed up. This is a new genre for me (Urban Fantasy - Similar to Kate Beckinsale's "Underworld" movies. Gritty action adventure stuff with secret agents trying to keep the demonic invasion from occuring while trying to keep their mini-dragon sidekick's addiction to coney dogs fed. The scene below might have happened ...

Tonight, is the the condo community's annual holiday party. Spiked punch, a few basic cocktails, finger foods like super awesome cookies. Go chat with a few of the neighbors.

Wife is visiting her mother at the hospital. Looks like they'll keep her another day until Cardio can get all of their tests done.

That's it for now

Hmm...
How about a magic fanny-pack that holds a bunch of tools and weapons in another dimension until needed? Then the fairy reaches in, pulls out a howitzer, and blows the demons back where they belong...

That's great, but demons don't care about howitzers. Nor " Laserz " -- you gotta blast them with magic, and catch them in a pink-taffy encapsulation spell... because... like ... magic.

But the bag of holding - yeah, the girl on the bike has a jacket full of magical sheaths full of throwing knives. Her brother puts a full sword in a pouch big enough for a Leatherman multi-tool. So we're on same wavelength.

oh, and the spies are Brits. So it's a "bumbag"... only women have "fannies" in the UK. And they don't wear bags there. :p

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Both Metro New York NFL franchises did what the do best....they Lost!

After a reported high temperature of 59° this afternoon, it's currently 34° headed to 32°. Tomorrow looks like rain and 51°.

My portion of the Christmas shopping is about wrapped up. Starting to sweat about a couple of items ordered well before Thanksgiving, that have not surfaced yet.

The Delaware and Raritan continued a Conrail Browns Yard tradition, and ran their Santa Claus Special down the Freehold Secondary and Southern Secondary. This year they co-ordinated with the Toys for Tots drive of the USMCR. There is a U tube video of this run if anyone is interested.
