Good Morning All. 72° and clear this morning in beautiful North Central Texas. Forecast is for 98° today, but tomorrow it's only supposed to be 80°. Quite the swing. Predictions of thundershowers tonight and all morning tomorrow. Maybe I can hold off topping up the pool with water!
Thank you all for the kind thoughts regarding the kidney stone. While it was short-lived, six hours, it did indeed hurt like hell. I've been told that it is even worse than labor pains which I couldn't experience.
Yesterday was a full day for me, the weekly grocery/beer trek, mowing part of the yard, cleaning some algae off the pool sides, and pruning and removing some tree branches that have grown downward and make mowing hazardous. Kindling for next winter!
What time that I had in the train shed was spent continuing my quarterly layout cleanup that I started early last week. The section that I am doing right now has no ground cover yet, so it is easier to do. Completed the visual inspection of the track and ROW for loose and AWOL parts last week and vacuumed it this week. Dusting the existing structures and any minor repairs is next. Now that it is vacuumed, I plan to add some ground cover while it is clean! Additionally, I pulled an Accurail covered hopper kit out of the stock shelf and renumbered it prior to assembly. Accurail sells renumbering sheets of 12 sets of decals for $4. Enough numbers for both the ends and sides of all of their freight car kits. Decals match the paint exactly. They issued four numbers for this particular kit when they released it, so the decal sheet allows me to have 16 cars all together...a small portion of the 1000 cars ATSF ordered on this particular order with Pullman Standard. I could have endless more combinations had I bought more cars and "cut and pasted" an additional decal sheet.
Bob -
Now to decide the pros and cons of Arizona, Arkansas and Texas.
At least they ain't all broke and politically dysfunctional like Illinois. My call would be either Arkansas or Texas...Arizona is too close to California.
Toot - Didn't have a chance to look at it at first, but that video of George Hawkins layout was first class. It looks like many of his cows and sheep, like
Chet's, don't need any damn fences to keep them in! Superb scenery.
Louis - I'll save the narcotics for when I can enjoy them. I know what you mean about "whinny-boy". I prefer to suffer in silence myself.
Garry - Sorry to hear about your friend Dan, my prayers are with him.
Joe - I know that you had trouble with whomever regarding your MIL, perhaps it's just the area there. I had no trouble with four different aging relatives here, but all of them were over 15 years ago, well before Obamacare (which barely exists in Texas anyway).
Sherrel - Ice in your beer! Horrendous! But you're not necessarily in bad company, former Dallas Cowboy coach and current TV analyst Jimmy Johnson always drank his Heineken's that way.
Ken in Md - Drinking that much water is no guarantee, but is a good lifestyle choice in itself. Flushes lots of toxins out.
Eric - Lagerbuchse = bearing bushing.

Everybody have a great day. I think that it is Friday! I lose track now that I am retired!
