I was given this as a child in 1976. I took it to an experienced model railroader in 1984 and he got it running. He had to make a couple of pieces of track as he said it was an unknown gage. It has the number 240 stamped on it and it is stamped - country of origin japan. It has been on a shelve in my office, no rust and every few months or so I rotate the moving parts. I would love to know what it is and a value. thanks for any help!

While I can't tell you who made the model, it is a model of a Shay logging locomotive.

I'm guessing it's an Aster, if it was new in box, unused, might be worth 2,000.00

They were made in 1978, looks like a run of 1500.
