My Layout Build

I've been continuing a bit with mainline roadbed and track but I need to get some more sections of benchwork done to make significant progress. Tomorrow will be (I think) the fourth rainy Saturday and/or Sunday in a row and I cut the lumber outside ☹️

Just letting you all know that I haven't given up on this thing... just waiting for a little luck 🤞

That’s a bummer about the weather but hopefully you can make some progress soon!

Finally had some free time when it wasn’t raining 🥳 I cut the pieces for two more sections of bench work and assembled one and installed some terminal strips.

You can also see that I placed the structures of the food processor on the floor to start thinking about their placement. I’m getting a cool vision in my head for this industry. Let’s see what happens :)

Finished bench work (except for a 1’x 3’ peninsular and a lift out section for reversing section)

To continue marking track lines I had to mockup this multi structure and multi spur industry. It was immediately obvious it wasn’t going to fit the way I planned. As of now this is what I came up with and I kind of like it.

The office building is there but I don’t know where that’s going yet.

I’m thinking of giving this industry a private 44 ton switcher (or smaller) but I’m using insulfrog #5s here…will it be a headache?

Small update:

I got the mainline done today and started dropping feeders. The track still needs to be glued and I need to make some adjustments to the benchwork legs to better level everything. May have to add shims to the track here and there too.

Glad to have a continuous loop. A loco I pre-ordered arrived after I dismantled the old layout and started this one. I finally was able to run it for a long time today 😃

Hi, gang. Bench work is almost done and I got most of the mainline glued today! Feels good when things start to become more permanent :)

Next weekend I hope to have staging at least mostly done (my staging is just two spurs on one side of the layout and two spurs on the other). Then I can put my rolling stock on the layout :D

Looking good! I love the feeling when a layout is finally coming together after lots of hard work:)
