Mail Call! Railway Post Office, commonly abbreviated as RPO has rolled in!

These were ordered before Thanksgiving
C44A34DE-E6B9-46AD-B610-F2E3EE29C9EA.jpeg

and finally arrived at the LHS yesterday. A couple prototype pictures for the Acid tanker and the Slurry tanker.

98B6BC69-8EF4-4B39-8C6E-132124B2912D.jpeg

Both pictures are from 2008 with build dates of 1995 on both cars. Not much weathering but it is there. I model 2015 and will look elsewhere for more pictures. I understand the Athearn RTR not being number accurate but Athearn Genesis should be an exact number not just a number within the build series. I am not a river counter but I like accurate numbers

Both cars are for use in my paper mill

The Atlas Centerbeam (No Proto picture found yet) car is brown and while the car number is within the build series number my CN roster book does not have this number. I almost refused the cars but I got another 10% over my normal 20% off. All 3 cars are for me and will be weathered soon.

I asked about my pre-ordered Rapido Centerbeams before Christmas and today he told me due December of 2023.

He did give me 3 other Atlas Centerbeams to weather, not CN but also brown. I dislike brown or oxide red cars, but… All the cars picked up today, 6, have been sprayed already with VMS Matt clear varnish. There are drying in the dehydrator.

Prototype pictures are from the

railcarphotos.com

website and the photographer is credited on each picture

I like these, can't wait to see how you weather them. :)

Well I came home to some boxes waiting for me on my door step! I wonder what they are? LOL

I got more trains! Who would have thought? Really?

So first up I will share this box car pre weatherd from an unknown modeler who I think did a nice job. I got it because it will go with my "local" train that I will run from time to time for the Saratoga & North Creek Railroad. The box car started out as an Athearn RTR 50' FMC 5347 Box Car Helena Southwestern Railroad HSW 1013 Patched to Finger Lakes Ry NY FGLK 24005. Unfortunately I did not get the original box. As near as I can tell this was the 1st run or release of the series of FMC 5347 Box Cars from a run way before 2016 by Athearn. Details are good and the weathering patch job is great! Only missed patching the numbers on the ends of the car. I may leave it or do it myself later I dunno yet.

I found a stock or old picture of what the car looked like beforer of the internet.

HSW 1013.JPG

Overall I am pleased with this puchase of 27 dollars with free shipping.

Next item that came. This one took about 6 months for me to find when I found out it existed. Apparently Atlas did a run of 3 numbers for this car. I got #2 of 3 on the first run. I believe they are going to run another series. I hope to at least get the other 2, #1 and #3. We shall see! The blue Cotton Belt Route logo is what got me looking for it. I remember living in Arkansas and always looked for these hopper cars and box cars that had the blue logo. Very hard to find!

Finally......motive power! As Scottie always said we need more power! I came across an Athearn RTR ATH65115 EMD SD45 Union Pacific UP 2668 DCC & Sound. It turns out it came from the same guy I bought the EMD SD40 from with DCC and Sound that I posted earlier last week.

This too was new old stock still sealed in box the stickers on the edges were still intact! Crazy! Along with a crazy price too. So this will be the last SD45 I ever get. I am only looking for 2 more SD40s one leased unit and one UP 3303.

And lastly the final box that came today is also a locomotive!

This one was an impulse buy for sure and I did debate ahhhhh.... about 5 seconds on whether I should buy it lol I got it for a personal reason. It was to pay a little homage to my old child hood growing up in Wisconsin in my adolescent years. It also helped that it was sold to me under 200 bucks and that it also had DCC and sound.......even though it is a fantasy scheme but it will be on my RR and I will deem it as a Heritage unit in my stable/roster!

So I got it!

That's it for now.

I did place an order at Trainworld......I wanted to get an Intermountain 497104S GE C45AH Tier 4 Locomotive Union Pacific UP 2627 DCC & Sound. They had a good price on it and everyone else was selling at 275 or higher. I like the looks of the GE C45AH Tier 4 locomotives and I actually don't have one. So I decided on getting it. I do like Intermountain's products as I have a couple of them now. Solid runners and great detailing. I have been looking at Scale Trains lately as well. They are of course exceptionally good at making their products. I do not own any locomotives from them yet but I do have 4 of the water tenders for the Big Boy and the steam team. I have been seriously been looking at getting one of the Museum quality Blg Blows......we will see. In the mean time I think the GE C45AH Tier 4 will arrive on Monday then I will post that up on here.

I had the Museum Big Blows and a rivet counter as part of the 1st orders when ST opened for business. Wonderful machines and easily sold them.

Love the cars that arrived for you

Geez, what’s left on your list for Springfield?

Mostly kits I will be looking for and some decoders. I also am looking for a Challenger.

ST has me in a holding pattern. I may get one before long.....

I working on a box to send you next month maybe, :D

I am seriously looking at the Blunami decoders to experiment with. The grandson is great with the ProtoThrottle but seems to have lost interest at 9. Maybe using his iPhone will entice him back.

I used to love the Locsound V4’s but I refused to buy Lokprogrammer so sold them off and I really like the Tsunami2 decoders and I can’t find a real difference other then the tsunami’s are easy to adjust. More control feels the same.

Ready whenever you are for weathering

Well here it is! The new Intermountain 497104S-10 GE ET44AC C45AH Tier 4 Locomotive Union Pacific UP 2684 DCC & ESU Loc Sound

It's really a beautiful unit! Nice details and crisp soloring etc. I will get it on the layout later this afternoon and do a trial run.

Great looking unit.

found this online for reference. Photo is credited along the frame. No side shots for 2674 but many for its close brothers. That is a good looking brute!

Wow! That's all I can say about these! I know Athearn commonly does fantasy locos, but I never knew they did these units! The Milwaukee road and Chessie System especially are calling to me!

Could you post photos of your other units? I would love to see em'. I know many people don't like the fantasy units, but I sure do!
