Kato sd9043 shell removal

I recently got a cp rail kato sd9043mac on ebay. It has a decoder in it, and I would like to get at it, but for the life of me I cant get the shell off! I tried the screws on the coupler boxes, but they wont budge, and I dont want to strip them. Any suggestions?

are there any removable parts on the shell such as the flared radiator fan grill?

Go to the Kato USA website and download the instructuion sheet.

It tells you exactly how to take the body off. You do have to get the screws out of the coupler boxes first though.
