JTEX A switcher junkyard

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

I have been wanting to start my switcher junkyard for a long time now. Well with the garage now built, I started building the bench work today. I have four 4' X 6' sections and one 4' X 6' that will be rounded. Right now the height is 44" high once the plywood gets put on tomorrow, but I'm thinking about lowering that another 4". So here's today's progress shots.

Jerome: Do you find that working on the detail parts or scenes of a layout at the workbench is a lot easier than budding them on the layout? No back breaking, or bend to reach, only to find out later than some items were off center or crooked.

Don't know how I missed seeing this rather long discussion, but found it tonight and looked thru the whole discussion,...interesting.

I believe in the early portion you were playing with the radius of track at the 'rounded end'. Did I read that you ended up with something on the order of a 30" radius and still had trouble with some of the longer diesel engines making it around those curves??
