I'm building another 2-lane truck offloading area. This one will only have 2 offloading racks. I just purchased 2 proto 40' fuel tankers for this project.
Jerome: Do you find that working on the detail parts or scenes of a layout at the workbench is a lot easier than budding them on the layout? No back breaking, or bend to reach, only to find out later than some items were off center or crooked.
Ordered a couple of these kits from Walthers. here's the first one completed. it will be at JTEX's only entrance. I have to keep all of those pesky railfans away!!
And finished the fuel offloading area. Guardrails installed and a light coat of weathering applied. I will have to dig out an area on the layout because it goes below grade.
Don't know how I missed seeing this rather long discussion, but found it tonight and looked thru the whole discussion,...interesting.
I believe in the early portion you were playing with the radius of track at the 'rounded end'. Did I read that you ended up with something on the order of a 30" radius and still had trouble with some of the longer diesel engines making it around those curves??
