On how to position you track and the layout itself?
I am curious on how much "curvature" I should have. I know railroads do not normally have long stretches of straights and that they do follow the lay of the land.
How did you make your line more realistic?
I mapped my room and then made circle templates of the minimum mainline radius that I wanted to use, then I manipulated them around until I got the longest mainline. It didn't take too long to figure out that way.
I did bank the turns on my horse shoe curve 2 percent.
