HO scale ties

Does anyone know where I can get some HO scale ties in a long (12" or 24") piece?

I looked on the internet and the ones I found I could not find a way to order the.

I am making a crossing and I don't want a bag of 500 ties, just a few pieces I can cut the length I need.

Thanks.

hmmm never made ties before but could a local hobby shop have some basswood the right size? I know Hobby Lobby carries some basswood.

Say rzwOwr,
I've never seen scale HO profile ties in 12 inch lengths, but rather in Std tie length or Switch tie length. It's hard to imagine why you would need anything longer than Switch tie length. It might be that across the center section of the actual crossing
depending on the degree of it you might require the Switch length for a way, but then you'd change over to regular tie length.

In the latest edition of Model Railroader, there was an interesting idea that was demonstrated. Twigs were cut to size and used as ties. This was for a logging operation. It still sounds like fun (or frustration) to try.

Hi,
I've used wooden kitchen matchsticks to make ties in the past. Used them for spare ties placed along the side of track and for tie piles. A little india ink with thinned dark paint and they look pretty good.
I know they make extra long matches for lighting grills and candles... they may be a little thicker than the kitchen matchstick, but might be an option to check out. They are about 9 inches long.

Dale, did you find something to use?
If not, I will cut you some from redwood .. Or basswood if I have some left.

Still looking Sherrel.

Thank you much, I think I can make them if need be.
I thought it may be easier to buy them.
