Need an idea on what will work here.

I have a switch track that cant be sceen from a staging yard. the track leaves the staging yard, curves around and goes under a bridge with 3 tracks above, it exits into a large yard you can see but the switch track that lets you into the yard is out of view. The switch is commonly used by both operators and members who just set up a train and are entering the layout. I want to put a signal up that will note the switch position. (red /Green)

my issues

no room under this aera for a switch machine as there are storage tracks below it/ Its currently a manual ground throw. What options do I have here to get the signal lights to work with a non powered ground throw??

Thanks
Trent

Trent, I am very new here but first thing that pops in my mind is a manual button to push when you throw the switch. I realize that will leave rooom for error by someone forgetting to flip the switch for the signal. Or, if you have any way of hooking up wiring under the switch could you mount a hidden switch that activates the signal when the switch is thrown?

Hope you figure something out!

Trent, if you don't mind me hijcking your thread...
what do you guys use to throw your Micro Engineering switches?
I do have some caboose throws, N and HO.

Trent I have used the Caboose ground throws with contacts and they do work well. They have slider contacts to make the connection. The only thing you have to be careful about is not allowing any dirt/glue/paint get into these contacts. ;)
