Yup, did some window shopping. Diesels with dcc and sound are about half the price of steam. For new anyway. Finding that out, I have enough steam locos! Consisting is in my future.

Less and less MRR's are into steam as most of the younger generations have never see them outside of a Musuem or only if there running special's, and have so hold no special memories of them. And as you say, prices are way different between the two.
 




Yes they are this was probably in the 70's or early 80's Not sure was at Hesston Steam Museum close to LaPorte IND
Have a bunch of picts from there if I could find them A friend of mine Mark and myself did work on some of the steam engines and of course the scale diesel engines there at the time
Mark was more interested in scale diesel engines built a few before he passed way to young
