I've had really good luck with ModelFlex paint after a soapy bath. No flaking yet except when I hit them against something.

I do like those cardboard containers.

Quail?? how did you know I was adding those?? hahaha
I do think some ducks or deer on the bank would add a nice affect.

I plan on having a farm and farm house to the left of the river. I'm not 100% sure of it though. Are farms normally seen near rivers in the midwest??

Yes. The best farm land is found in the flood plain or "bottom land". Thousands of years of flooding leaves some really good soil. But it's also the most expensive land.

If you come across some 1:87 quail let me know. I'd love to put some on my future layout.

I'm sure somebody can scare up a couple of 1/87 quail hunters.

Put 30 quail on your layout and that will be more then I've seen 1:1 in the last two years. If something doesn't change Bob is going to go the way of the Do Do.

I've got some 1/87 sea gulls
Haven't painted them yet and that's going to be a PITA
