Burlington Norhtern Santa Fe SD75I
Latest Addition to the roster, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe SD75I in the Warbonnet Paint Scheme. This ones number is 8277. She also needs some work done to her. I got this from Eric, aka ThoroughBreed, as a trade for my un-numbered SP SD70M.
Things that need to be done to this loco are:
*replace front and rear handrails/fix handrail break on right side behind the cab
*Sand off some minor glue marks and re-paint the sanded spots to match
*Paint metal Grab Irons
*Dust and clean off loco
*Weather the entire loco
*apply KADEE #5 Couplers
*Install DCC Decoder and make it DCC Compatible
All and all, i like this loco :mistht:
**UPDATE FEBRUARY 25, 2009**
I took the handrails off since i bought a new set for this loco anyways. Chris pointed out that he had thought this was a SD70MAC instead of a SD70M. Its actually neither of those, this loco is a SD75I lol. No problem, I also got a set of SD70/75 handrails, so i can just use that set and paint it BNSF Silver for this model.
The reason i pulled all the handrails off and not just the ones on the front and rear (which needed to be replaced anyways because they were broken off on the bases of the rails) is because there were glue marks at the bases where the rails attached to the loco's walkways. So i sanded them down and now all i have to do is repaint the sides BNSF red and touch up the Fuel Tank that i accidentally brushed up against lol. I also need to paint the grab irons so ill do this too....
Once it is re-pained, i will also need to re-puncture the wholes for the handrails as some of them got covered when i sanded of them, and im sure some more will get plugged with paint when i re-paint the sides of the walkways and the front and rear "porches", no biggy
Here are a couple pics with the locos handrails removed and the sides, front and rear sanded down. I also did some minor sanding on the roof of the cab next to the antenna and on one of the sunshades to remove some glue marks. This only has one sunshade so i will also need to get another and add it on in the BNSF Red (which by the way i need paint to match the BNSF red so if anyone knows what to use, id appreciate some help on that). I think i might also replace the antenna and add some more details to the front of the loco... Thats later lol
And here is the photos im going to be using to detail and weather this unit:
