is there a way to remove the stale cigarette smell fom some of my buildings? I bought a couple building and they reak of stale cigarette smoke. Granted I wont be able to get it all out but is there a way to tone the smell down somehow?

Ive wondered this before as well. Ive noticed that the stench seems to disappear over time after been in a smoke free home. Ive had this problem a few times buying things from forum members and off ebay

I have found that putting it in a sealed container with a few Dryer fabric sheets (snuggle, Bounce, etc.) for a few days works well, as crazy at that sounds. The dryer sheets also work in autos that have been smoked in.

Try some household ammonia, sprayed from a bottle, and let it dry. Rinse in cool water and the odor should be gone.

Buildings and vehicles with no wooden or electrical parts I wash in a sink with some Ivory bar soap added to luke warm water and then rinse and blow dry with my airbrush. The lingering smoke smell seems to be mostly caused by a slight film that sticks to the models. Anything that shouldn't be wet like a wooden building I put a very small dab or two of Old Spice cologne on each wall. You could probably get equal results from your favorite cologne. Just go easy since they almost always have an alcohol base and could affect the finish if applied to the outside of a wall. Why Old Spice?, well a friend of mine needed another service van for his heating business. He found one less than 2 years old that had been used by a fish market. Needless to say the van was next to impossible to sell. Paul bought it and after a thorough hosing out it still smelled so he poured 2 bottles of the Old Spice all over the inside and it fixed it. The fishy smell never came back.

You could also try putting an item in a container with some ground coffee for a day, we used to sprinkle it in trailers used to haul hides to Texas.

Glue a round tooth pick to the bottom of a pine scented green tree car freshener to make a trunk. Plant it among your regular scenic trees near the building that smells of smoke. Instant scenery and smells much better. :D Autumn scenes can use the car fresheners that come in red and yellow so they blend in better although the different scents might clash.

Of course I'm joking. ;)

Pine-sol. Of coarse, then you're stuck re-painting the model, and it'll be stuck with a fresh pine scent.

i went and did two things off the list..took two fabric sheets put the pieces of the building in a large zip lock bag with the fabric sheets and threw them all in the freezer..seems to have work..just had to explain to the gf why there was a building in the freezer.
