I'm looking to put these in a yard area on the layout that I'm building. They make a rigid and a spring version. Does anyone have any advice or experience with both of these as to be able to make a recommendation?

I've used both types. The sprung unit is best for turnouts that do not have a built in spring to keep them in place once moved. Atlas turnouts get the sprung throws. Unsprung work good with Peco turnouts as they have a built in spring that holds the rails tight in position.

Sounds like I may be going with the spring models as I'm using atlas turnouts.

Yes, the sprung version is what I always use as I make my own switches but NH Mike gave good examples of why & when to use them.

I really like them as the targets help to identify the point position.

I siliconed a Caboose high throw onto a little piece of sheet metal so that if I need to move the switch, it goes right along with it. :)

Does it come with the parts to make this kind of stand?

Btw, Tooter, I am very jealous of your backyard. I wish I had the space, time, money, and patience to build something I could ride.

Say QRR,
In another post you asked if they come with different targets for the pivoting mast?

Yes they do have a fair selection to choose from and even have a small round one that is meant to be clued to the target mast,

Here's a close-up of one at the Anglin Oil siding on my layout.

I'll also be sending you a PM so watch for it.
