BNSF SD70MAC's
Hi Guys,

I spent the better part of 6 hours (3 hours last night, 3 hours this morning) shooting a HUGE BNSF Mixed Freight Train. On point is a BNSF SD70MAC #9955, followed by BNSF SD70MAC #9929, then BNSF SD75I #8277, and then BNSF SD70MAC #9897. There are 108 mixed Freight Cars after the 4 engines, then a BNSF AC4400CW #5624 and lastly a BNSF SD70MAC #9482.

**BEWARE, THIS PAGE IS EXTREMELY PHOTO INTENSE AND HAS 112 PICTURES TO LOAD, IT WILL TAKE A WHILE**

Without Further ado, here is the roll-by:

Quite an impressive collection of freight cars you've got there. I like how you re-positioned the various trucks between each frame, many people overlook that little detail.

Ken, Josh, Mac, and Gary, thanks for all the kind words :D

It was really fun doing this, but boy was it a repetitive thing to do. The module is only 5 feet long, so i would take a few cars out of there boxes, set them on the tracks, couple them and go through the line, removing the ones that had already been photographed and setting them aside. I also had to keep up on the traffic and "moving vehicles" which had to be moved a believable distance, alot of repositioning with both the train and the vehicles for each frame, checking of the camera to make sure it looked decent..... When i would get done with the set of train cars, i would turn the camera off (which was on a tri-pod by the way) and pack up the cars that had been shot, then set them aside and get some new cars.....

I tried to mix it up and not have to much of the same freight together, since most mixed freight trains dont have all the same type of cars bunched up and all together lol

Like i said, this took me the better part of 6 hours to do lol and is roughly 70% of my rolling stock roster in this one train lol

One of the guys over on AMR forum made me GIF mini-clip of the train in action to better see the movement of the traffic and train. But beware its 10MB and may take a minute to load, but its pretty neat when you see it :D

That animated GIF really came out great. The excavator loading the dump truck looks just like the real thing. The train looks nice too. :)

Very cool!!..1st thing I noticed was the bucket truck lowering and raising (I work for the phone company so that caught my eye)...then I was busy watching the off-rail action...GREAT JOB!!...Coolest thing I saw in a while and being done on a module, I can only imagine the time it took especially to unpack and set up...and then repack...Well worth a major "thumbs-up!" Props to the GIF creator too! I was scrolling thru the pics and was thinking it was almost movie like till I got to the gif. Nice work!

I like how the trucks were positioned to look like there was LIFE happening there. You just gave me some ideas I might try out in my photography ---thanks for sharing!!:D:D

You are some very creative people...Have been looking through your forum and I am very impressed....Very nice work you guys...

Cheers...Jeff..

Jim, Josh, Bob, Blown, Ford, and Jeff, thanks guys for all the comments and compliments :D :D :D

It was certainly fun to do, but boy it took FOREVER. It might be a little while until i can do another one of these.... It might not be so bad if i had a longer track to build up a little longer train on and then roll it through up till the last car, then put all those away, and break out some new ones and built up another line, but im working with about 3-4' of track most of the time (its a 5' module, but it depends on where im taking the pics on the module....) lol

thanks again guys, im glad everyone enjoyed it :D

Josh,

I loved every minute of your creative scene. Great looking train and great looking construction site. As one who works construction the trucks and other equipment looked great. The only thing that was missing was a bunch of guys with hard hats and orange vests standing around. I think the one thing that would have made it perfect would have been just some kind of background behind the train. Other than that: I enjoyed it very much and hope that you do more.

Zak, thanks for all the nice comments :D :D

I agree with ya, i need a bunch of construction dudes standing around doing nothing, and well, theres always just a couple that are ACTUALLY working LOL so i should have a couple doing some actual work lol. I need to get a bunch of road workers from WS and see about some Prieser's too

Thanks again guys for all the comments :D
