Just wondering what your thoughts are on Broadway Limited Imports Locomotives? I bought my first Blue line the other day and I have always bought Atlas. From what I understand I can just add DCC at a later date and the sound (speakers) is already installed. I guess I am asking if these are good quality locomotives or not?

I have a couple BLI's on the layout and I can't help you.
One is great, runs good and sound is pretty darn good.
The other runs sporadically and the sound volume varies constantly.
Still another has great consistant sound, keeps the CV's where I put them but occasionally beeps uncontrollably.
Like I said... big help, right?

I have the SD7 and so far no problems and I really enjoy the sounds as well as the decoder works great on my Digitrax system.

I have the BNSF 6397 SD40-2 with sound & DCC from BLI and it works just fine for me, and it sounds great too.
I liked the air compressor sounds.

Depends on how nitpicky you are, but all of BLI's Blueline SD40-2s have chicken wire grills. They are only correct for some roads, and not for others. Also, I don't like how the prime mover sounds like a 567 instead of a 645 and the horn can be improved a bit.

Their AC6000CWs are nice though.

I have 3. I like them all esp my ac6000cw csx #632. It pulls really well and has great sound.

I also have 2 sd-40-2s in the green BN paint scheme. I always thought they looked sharp and its just a line up I wanted to model. They are also nice engines and very sharp looking. Ill be adding their decoders as i transition to dcc in the next few weeks. Looking forward to the additional features ill be able to use.

Thanks for all the replies guys, sounds like I made a good choice. Have any of you put decoders in your Blue Lines? If you don’t mind me asking what brand you bought and how you liked the results? I am looking to add a decoder shortly after getting this Locomotive.
