Hello all
I have an Atlas N scale DCC equipped loco that runs about a third of the speed of it's cousins. It has done so since I got it. I tried setting CV8 to 33 and it still does the same. Shell off everything seems to run smooth but it's just slow. Any idea's or suggestions?
try resetting the decoder. Did see if anything is binding?
How old is the loco, did you buy it new or used, and if you bought it new, have you been using it for a while?
When motors demagnetize over time, you may see a speed difference.
+1 on binding. The easiest way I've found to test this is to examine the sub assemblies (trucks, motor, linkages between, then if you find binding in one break it down another step and repeat). If all that checks out, I'd say just run it a while longer, see if the brushes just need to break in or something.
Thanks for the responses. I had tried the usual resets etc.
I think I found the answer on this page:

The issue has been since it was new. Turns out that they have different speed motors out there. The one that I have running slow is meant to do so. They call it the slow or scale speed motor. It has a Gray end like in the link. The other SD35's I talked about have a black end motor which is the Fast one.
