Im in need of about 8 of these little pieces.
Im not too sure on a part number or the name of them.

They are a gear like piece, they go inbetween the wheels inside the trucks.
I managed to split 3 of them on my rear trucks. No idea how it happened.

Here are a few pictures to help identify these little boogers.

Mud, that's the standard Athearn axle. You can go to Athearn's website and order or call them to order them.

Here you go!

Athearn Part# 60024

I have used these to replace some of the old Proto 2000 as well for the first and 2nd release series on the GP7s, GP20s & GP30s.
A big reason these fail more on the LifeLike units, is the axle stubs are slightly larger diameter than the Athearn ones. If you replace them, I would paint the Athearn wheels that come with the gears, and use those instead. What little you lose in appearance, you gain in reliability and longevity.
This has zip to do with the subject, which is an Athearn SD45, but a help for the Proto 2000 owners out there.

Hey... looks like we found our new "go get " guy! :p

LOL

right right, Champaign Illinois is where horizon, tower, hobbico all are located.
I use to live in Urbana which is the city that runs with Champaign.

I moved away about 30 minutes away to a small town

I have had problems with these too in my business, I have gotten in I think from my work records 4 locos that have had that problem. Quick fix but still, they seem to have a tendency to do that. Mike
