Still a youngster then.5 years, 9 months, 14 days.
Very glad to see that magilla12 is still here with us!magilla 12, I checked your very interesting track plan and I think I found a problem...This incline will never work. Too short.

Oh, colors shouldn't be a challenge for magilla12. Maybe he could do what a lot of other model railroaders do - get some sifted dirt from the exact area they're modeling. Based on the area he lives then, maybe even right out of his back yard? That should be interesting, getting those colours right could be a challenge, but I was referring to what time period your interested in , are you staying with the time period dictated by you loco, or do you intend to come forward to diesels, or even both?
My son is an artist so he is on paint detail. Good idea sifting some dirt on wet paint. we will do a few test patches. I picked up lumber so I can start on my table tomorrow. That's what I was thinking, even if you paint the base a similar color and sift dirt on top should come out good.
Don't forget to take some foto's always interesting to see how a build progresses. My son is an artist so he is on paint detail. Good idea sifting some dirt on wet paint. we will do a few test patches. I picked up lumber so I can start on my table tomorrow.

Yes. That's what I mean but I'm not an expert (I'm a poor layout builder).Do you mean the grade?
I second that !Don't forget to take some photo's always interesting to see how a build progresses.
Me too !I am excited to watch and see how it comes out.
That's a decent size, to start with.OK, I think all I need to do now is go steal my son’s miter saw and I’ll get this table built. View attachment 160211View attachment 160212
If nothing else, they can always be a "before I cut my hand off with an Xacto-knife" record.Don't forget to take some foto's always interesting to see how a build progresses.
Oooh, looks like cabinet grade REAL plywood.
Good ideas on the Track-Tracing!Tables pretty much done I’m ready to start laying track. I think I’ll lay it all out and use a few push pins to hold her down and I can trace around it so I can figure out where all my saw cuts will be. View attachment 160338
You could also use 1:1 track templates rather than tracing.Tables pretty much done I’m ready to start laying track. I think I’ll lay it all out and use a few push pins to hold her down and I can trace around it so I can figure out where all my saw cuts will be. View attachment 160338
