Afternoon All,

Spent the morning at Sam's Club spending way too much money. We got gas there at $4.19. The average is around $4.39 here. After getting home I tried hooking up the last AR unit without success. I triple checked the wiring input and output correcting 2 sets of rail feeders for the correct hookup. No matter what I did the RL always shorted. I noticed on the AR unit no matter how the input or output was wired it shorted. WTH? I looked online (Tony's) and found a procedure for testing it, so I'll do that tomorrow.

The local news reported down in the Miami area that apartment rents have increased 40%. One lady said hers has gone up $1000 a month and it was painted concrete block walls.

Louis- Nice choice of music. I still remember what my dad said when I brought home the Paranoid album...LOL.

Willie- Really nice train shots and scene.

Joe- It all sounds like a shell game with workers.

I hope everyone has a good night.

All the talk about energy bills I checked mine. It was lower this month. Two less days in the billing cycle and mild weather was the reasons on my bill.
Natural gas is my heating fuel.
I never did switch suppliers. It is still BGE, Baltimore Gas and Electric.

Happy to report that my wood-burning heater has cost me $0.00 this winter! I don't really know how much electricity my electric chainsaw used last fall (2020)/winter/spring to cut all of the wood up though. My labor I consider to be exercise. Downside, I will have used all of my dry fuel by this time tomorrow! I have plenty of kindling left though. I do not anticipate needing it for heat after tomorrow anyway. If I really need more wood, I have some smaller logs that I cut last August in next season's pile that are most likely dry enough to burn efficiently.
Looking forward, I most likely have enough already cut for 2022-2023 season due to the major tree that I had to have removed recently. I still do need to split about a half cord though.

Imagine if John Allen were alive today and had the lastest in scenery materials, what the G&D would look like?
Greg- I recently assembled a John Allen Goree & Dephetid boxcar by Roundhouse.
Here are a couple pictures of my John Allen train.

Do you have a favorite train you want to share?

Morning all,

Late as I've been resetting new passwords on our various computer systems. We have a kid whose last day is tomorrow and I want as many changed before he goes as he has admin rights, which I will be remote connecting to the systems after hours tomorrow and killing his access as quick as I can. Personally glad to see him go.

Gotta get back to it...BBL
A man of foresight, totally good call, tardy responses to things like this can lead to chaos.

Dave: When I was with Conrail, my one way drive ranged from 25 to 48 miles, depending on where the assignment reported. When I went to Amtrak, the closest location was Metro Park Station, 32 miles one way to catch the train to NYC. If I worked out of Philadelphia, the one way drive was 72 to 78 miles depending on the route taken. When gas prices got real ugly, I started driving to Trenton, and riding the train to Philly reducing the drive to maybe 36 miles one way. The truck (with a six), used more gas than the Monte Carlo, so I traded the truck in and bought the wife her current car...That was 14 years ago.

What's different now vs.14 years ago, is that Americans consume less gasoline than 14 years ago, and gasoline is more plentiful, Geopolitical Situation not withstanding. So the higher prices are all due to commodities speculation, rather than supply issues.

The street railroad / industrial area of your old layout was well done.
You nailed that one

Good evening.
Spent half the day peeling off old wallpaper, and half the day screwing in new drywall through the basement stairwell and room. Tomorrow, I'll be taping and mudding. - Thank you for the kind comments referencing my wife's desire to have a home more than what we need to hang our hats in. At least she's happy with my efforts, and I have my own train room with her consent.
I might just get a chance to add to my layout tables while waiting for all that mud to dry.

Here's my rant for today:
I know everyone's been talking about prices going up drastically, but, more than double is quite a-bit out of line. This is our March electric bill that just came in the mail:

More than double last months bill. So, I suppose the wife has to get rid of her grow lights, the block heater don't get plugged in, and we go back to using candles for light. - Can't wait for the natural gas heating bill to show up next week.
What bothers me most, is that we are not bad off. What about the less fortunate. How will they afford to survive? In this place, if you don't have shelter and heat, you die.

I'm not happy; maybe I should take up drinking again so I can find that happy place.
Rant over!

Looking forward to throwing drywall mud onto the wall tomorrow. I'm betting that stuff is going on with gusto!
Guy, if the Grow Lights are being used I can understand a increase but not double. Maybe checking with the provider will give you some more answers.

Bloody daffodils, Jaz! I know you don't mean it this way, but your work encourages me to pick up my crayons (the big, oversize ones) and draw stick figures for mommy.

Gorgeous stuff and no doubt years and years of accumulated experience. But crikey - makes me want to take up RC aircraft.

But I'm still in the build phase and having fun!
Rc aircraft needs guts, the perishing things crash so easily, we had the tail go on a helicopter which nosedived at speed, really lucky to just need minor repairs, RCA’s boats are safer - best on shallow water, we have a drone for taking pictures then they set that you needed a licence to fly it, 1000£ suddenly a pain in the bum. We own the land with trees, the nearby farmers think us totally mad. the local wildlife loves us though.Pond prior to trees growing up.

TomO: Kids are about a mile away currently, it's not like we're going far. We have 1 daughter whose a little over an hour away, otherwise our 2nd daughter and our son live next door to each other in the same town we live in.
Until Fall of 2021 the kids live 2 miles through the woods from us, or we them. They purchased our house with a very good deal. We are downstairs until our place is built, a few thousand feet away. We would miss the grandkids if we moved out of state for more then the 199 days Hawaii allows. The son said even if he gets married (he is 36 now) there will be no kids so him being in Texas and us in either Hawaii or Wisconsin is not an issue.

Raining here in Virginia this morning. Just can't get motivated to go out for the morning walk.
Have a senior's lunch today at church. I don't go to often because to many of the widowed women want to sit at the same table with me. It's a potluck lunch so I think I'll make a pan of sweet corn bread.
I'll try to finish dismantling the module transport case this afternoon.
Ya'all need to remember to leave Flo a tip. She's been complainin about the 2-bit tips she's been finding.
I think she is softening you up, I heard her husband passed last year, winks.

There is a learning curve,we all go through it, and I think the planning building stage is the best bit, plenty of ours is still in that place awaiting love and attention.

Fried oysters, French fries and spinach! I'm getting hungry smelling it!

Have a great night Everybody!
I hate you! Actually sounds pretty good. I'm probably going to have a fish sandwich.

Dave: Thanks for the tip!

Jaz: We hadn't changed any passwords in the 7 years I've been there. We have now, especially since we're scheduled for a DHS evaluation in the next few weeks.
