Well, howdy there internet people, and those who use beverage packs to weigh down stuff like foamboard and roadbed.

It's Troy again.

Just popped in to share:

THE END This monkey is finally off my back, so I'm celebrating with Monkey Shoulder Scotch. I woke at 4 am, made coffee, ate bacon, and powered through 4200 words before lunch. A nap was in order, then returned to take today's total to one word shy of 7,000.

Those kinds of numbers are the exception, not the rule. When writing cozy mystery, I find that mine are character driven, with the mystery secondary. No matter how much I plan the mystery plot, it ALWAYS changes because the characters change through the story.

I didn't want to interrupt my momentum by posting here.

Tomorrow and the rest of the weekend will be spent re-reading, fixing errors, and fining places to put red herrings. I might have to put a fishing lake on my RR layout, and call it Red Herring Lake or such.

What? You diluted that with ice?? Congrats.

Ice is good, I like my booze cold and my … oh never mind that.

To our wordsmith Troy, congrats sir! Sooner then later I am going to get one of your books. Those are the things you hold and turn pages, right?

Are the books available as e-books?

TomO

Good evening. it's cloudy and 41.
Winter Storm Watch through Monday morning. Forecast is .3" of ice covered by up to 8" of snow, with high winds throughout.
I'm not sure whether I want to have my non-comp/collision insured car outside at the top of my driveway where I stand a better chance of getting on the street, but can get flattened by the neighbor's pine trees when they snap, or safely in the garage under the house, where it may have to sit until the ice melts.

Books, ebooks (cheaper) and a few in audio. But cozy mysteries only run about 5+ hours, not the 10+ most people want to spend their credits on.

And, yes, I like my beverages chilled. Do I look British? Don't answer that. ;)

Good morning everyone, Troy that scotch looks good! Is it too early here to have that with my bagel?
Noreaster on its way here today, furniture is coming this morning and of course brand new Maytag dishwasher is leaking at the door. Tried buying “made in America” but sadly burnt. Hopefully one off, but I get frustrated by possible quality control issues.

Will glue more foam today and move some yard tracks around for ideas.

The F40PH was waiting for me to get home yesterday, not overly impressed with the detailing on it but the price was right. The SW7 will be here today…. Wife and her son are going shopping today, should give me a few hours on the train build. Just need to connect tracks in the northwest corner where the gate will be, then work in some elevation change, be ready for track bed and wiring…. Try to get some pics (if I get the mess cleaned up lol)

Morning all,

Hopefully a quiet day today. High near 60° before it all goes to heck. Winter weather is on it was for a day. Tomorrow's high 27° with blowing snow and low visibility, and the sunny and a high in the mid-upper 40's, and then back to the 50's for most of next week.

Well, grandson test positive for Covid. He has been vax'ed and always wears his mask. He was starting to run a fever last night, so he's out of school for at least today and both of the local grandkids are out on Monday. Hopefully it is as they say mild. I may need to get a test as I was around him earlier this week.

TTFN...

You may not look British, few of those though, you'll certainly look pissed (drunk) 🤣
Since I'm writing one of my series set on the Welsh/English border, I try to learn as many Britishisms as I can.

Unfortunately, there is a rule in Cozy Mystery writing (even in the witchy-ghosty-paranormal sub-genre I write) of NO cussing.

so, some of the good Britishism like Pissed for drunk are not allowed. I'm usually posting to my Facebook feed, asking my British friends "What's another way to say >>>> that isn't going to honk off American grandmums?"

It's five-oclock somewhere. Imbibe away.

I do need to find some good Canadian whiskys to try. I hear our northern neighbors are skilled in that art.

Morning - 55F degrees and looking for 70F on the high side with mostly cloudy! Lots of clouds last few days without any moisture falling. This is supposed to be our rainy season; fortunately we are still ONE inch above normal in our count.
The SonIL is getting better after feeling horrible for 4-5 days - now, one of my two BrotherIL's has contracted the virus - both were Vaxxed without the booster. BIL sounded pretty bad when I talked briefly with him yesterday.
The Spousal Unit is back at her Mom's until Monday - she allowed that when this time is up - she will be home for about a month ... we will see ... I do not mind except I sort of tire of my own scratching in the kitchen. I do not mind doing the dishes and cleaning, but just don't like to cook! The Spousal Unit is such a wonderful cook - I would be lost without her - and in more ways than just that.

Enough rambling - I need to catch up on you all's posting?

Good morning gang!

Day off from work yesterday, had to take Bud to a specialist in Baltimore, as out regular vet is out of options to treat his illness. $1,200 bucks and lotsa tests later, samples went out to the University of North Carolina we are waiting for answers. Meanwhile all he can keep down is ground chicken and rice. The chief suspect is Addison's disease. Not curable, but with treatment can be managed and he can live out a normal life.

After all that excitement we cleaned the piles of Christmas out of the garage and packed it away, got the Cub and the snowblower out of the shed and in the garage since they are calling for several inches of white stuff Sunday. By 7 pm. I was in bed. Done.

Troy I highly recommend Canadian Whiskey! Irish, Bourbon and Canadian, that's my top 3 whiskeys. I tried scotch whiskey years ago and I have not had any since. My son gave me a bottle of scotch whiskey last year, I gave it back. For my taste any decent American whiskey is better than scotch.

I seldom drink now, when I do it's Jameson.

Congratulations on completing your book!

Karl I hope Bud is feeling better. Eastern Animal Hospital is the best I know of, but very expensive. Its located off Eastern ave next to I95. I wish you well.

7pm is my normal bed time.

Thanks for reminding me to get the snow blower out.

Oh I agree, pissed in the UK has a completely different connotation to the US, as you know, and what is acceptable here ain't acceptable there, along with certain words and phrases, that outside the UK are meaningless, so I don't envy you trekking through the minefield of the english language, in what has become, essentially, the same language, but also a foreign one.
