Now that I finished commenting on current events, I'm slowly progressing at ballasting. The PRR on the Essington and Eddystone modules is almost complete. Now, I start on the Reading. Since we finished grocery and sundry shopping this morning, and since we will remain home this year, with no company, I will have plenty of time to work on this.

TomO: I seek out photos of locations I'm familiar with, so I can factually comment on them. I also look for photos that depict detail worth modeling. BTW, that complex you are working on is fantastic. Being considerate about others who are not doing as well, does not make one a Socialist. My favorite charity, and the one I support on a regular basis, is a Mission, in Asbury Park. Located in close proximity to some of the wealthiest communities in the country, they deal with the homeless and hungry. No waste.

Curt: Any new developments with your mom?

Guy: That's a cool pick-up truck. I like your concept for placing structures on your module. How thick is the ice?

Patrick and Willie:
I used the stimulus to cover a few credit card balances... Right or wrong, I feel I'm paying my share for social programs and healthcare, so I have no qualms about using "free" money to benefit myself.

Willie, Tom and Dave: Like the photos. Good job on the CS unit, Tom...Love the Speeders, Dave and Love the girl from the trailer, Willie.

Tug Philadelphia when it was assigned to Little Creek VA 1-1-1974.jpg

Tug Philadelphia tied up at Little Creek, VA in 1974. In 1973, after the Calmar Lines freighter took out the C&D Canal Lift bridge, this tug became my home for 24 hours, as I had the helm once out of the harbor until approaching the breakwater at Cape Charles... a 26 mile cruise. One thing I learned, Tug Boat crews ate very well. I also learned, it was very hard keeping the damn thing on course.

Train # 454 preparing for departure from Delmar, DE. Delmar, as the name implies, is in Sussex Co, Delaware and Wicomico CO, MD on the Delmarva Peninsula. Train was cut back to Delmar - Philadelphia in 1958, and discontinued in 1964.

Christmas wrapping as others have written can be a PITA. It had always been for me. Then about 15 or so years ago we were at a dollar tree or something similar. The store where everything is a $1.00. Anyway, Terry buys gift bags for birthdays for the family and since it was November purchased Christmas bags too. The next year i went into the store while on lunch break and got all sorts of sizes for the gifts for my wife. The clerk looked at my purchase and said you need gift name tags for Xmas and the colored tissue type paper. I have not had to wrap a present since and don’t miss it.

TomO
Yes indeedee...been there done that, got the T-shirt! :p My problem is that every Christmas, my wife always asks for something that comes in a large box. I have yet to find a decorated gift bag that will hold a box with dimensions of 22"x16"x14"...

mID dAY hOWDEY Mid Day Howdy! - The Spousal Unit is out doing some last minute Stocking Stuffers for the Pups and Kids. It's a high overcast day today at 40 degrees and a 73 high promised.
The forecast is for 77 and sunny on "C-Day" so once again - No White Christmas here!

Made my annual contributions to a list of charities that I support (should do it monthly) which consists mainly of Veteran and Animal Rescue places and always contribute to several bell-ringing Salvation Army dudes around the store entrances ...You should see their eyes light up when I stuff a couple twenty's into their pots!
Hate to say it, but I have not wrapped a gift this year. Skinny Minnie never gave a single hint for a gift, however she has mentioned a couple times the last couple months that she is going to be looking at some cosmetic surgery as she keeps shedding more weight, so I gladly gave her a fair sized bank deposit to help her savings fund. I think I may even get a hug!

The local Shooting Range posted this on the local FB Page: "Thanks for the $600 Nancy -
It's just enough for 80 million angry Patriots' to buy a decent handgun".
Great idea, I just may use mine for that ... Been wanting to get the spouse a 380!

CURT - Prayers ongoing for your mom.
Willie - any more negative shopping and you will lose your LHS privileges' - nice work on the tables!
TROY - I watched a u-tube on some kids who launched a doughnut into outer space with a balloon.
TOM - sorry about the virus test, bummer.
Whose's doing the weathering - great work - I need a scorecard to keep up with the players anymore.

Wish All of U a Very Merry Christmas no matter how things are!

Willie - I absolutely love the Chicken mama scene! Everything from her to the chicken pen in the back and the old Ford truck. Especially the front fender work. Those pictures just became my favorite for the year.
Guy - You are correct, great mule deer, and out on the horizon, you will find antelope.
Dave - I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, but I will never go back there again. I prefer the wide open and no signs of civilization out there.
Patrick - Not sure what your plan is, But be safe and Merry Christmas.

Evening All,

Got a lot done today on the layout. I got the track laid on the WS Inclines for the coal trestle. The photo shows the placement (not permanent now) and I finished up the yard reverse loop crossover and 3 stub tracks on the left side (East). The closest will also be my programing track. The only track laying I have left is the 3 or 4 (haven't decided) stub tracks on the right (West) side. I redid a significant amount track in the East yard and approaches today because I just wasn't happy with it.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate. I'll be at my Mom & Dad's tomorrow afternoon and at daughter's house Christmas (lives 25 minutes away) for a small family gathering.

Sherrel- Thank you.

Walt- Nice looking scenery.

IB Ken- Neat tag.

TomO- It's a Christmas miracle. Great scene.

Tom- Great weathering.

Kleiner- I was in your situation in the mid 80's. Never ran a train on it. Very disappointing experience. I didn't pick up another train until the early 2000's and that was at the suggestion of my wife. Little did she know :D.

Willie- Great scene and beautiful job on the tables.

Dave LASM- Great looking ore cars and loader.

Guy- Nice start and that P/U is a work of art.

Joe- Thanks for asking. Her next appointment is hopefully next Wednesday for a biopsy. The Oncologist said (I was allowed into the appointment) that it takes 2 weeks to get the results. I don't think I have ever seen a RS unit with 2 train phone antennas on it.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Afternoon All,

Started out cleaning the pool in a sweatshirt (cold) then spent the rest of the day in the train room. I finished the outside loop in the yard, the reverse loop crossover and the cork roadbed on the 3 left hand stub tracks. I also put a black wash on the WS risers and put down cork on them. I also realized that I forgot to run the 2-8-8-2 through the reverse loop (right hand side) the other day so I ran it through both ways and it was smooth as silk :). I'll take some photos tomorrow.

Willie- Thank you. Very nice haul. Great job on the picnic table.

Patrick- I told that to my son and he just shook his head.

Dave LASM- Nice scenes both HO and 1:1.

Karl- 6 wheel trucks-Are they Chevy, Ford or Dodge?:p

TomO- Nice scene. I hope it's a false positive.

Tom- Great looking scenery.

Joe- Thanks for the history:). Great photos.

IB Ken- Thank you.

CA Dave- Great to see you posting. I'll have fascia around the layout and will shim it if necessary.

Troy- Looks like a neat book.

Terry- You can't seem to catch a break with shipping.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Curt: Thanks for noticing, it's appreciated.
I would definitely consider adding a spacer of at least three quarters of an inch between the table edge and the actual facer you're going to put up and then the facial should still be up approximately an inch and a half above the table top to prevent any trains from rolling off.
Some precautionary measure to prevent any mishaps.

I also noticed that you're running some dual gauge so you must be planning on incorporating some HOn3 on your new layout which is interesting too !

PS: I also hope your mom is doing okay and everything will turn out all right.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Well I see your loud shots above and you're making a lot of progress and I see you even added stuff switches it looks like that's getting very adventurous.
What is the elevation change between the lower track and the upper area where the cool dock will be I assume or cool dump ?

Afternoon!
The wife did manage to drag me out into the cold for ice-fishing today! I believe she enjoys out-fishing me.
Plus, she wants to do a replay early in the morning. - This time, I'm bringing out the ice tent; I froze my fingers sitting out in the open, like we were. It's quite painful when the fingers start to thaw out.

Guy: How thick is the ice?
Joe - The ice is a full 12" thick, not enough to bring the truck on the ice, yet. At least, not where I would feel safe. - So we walk out, with me dragging a toboggan carrying all our gear.
Here's a photo of what we are after:
McLeod_RB.jpg

I wish that was a 9' flyrod. Then she would only have to drag me out once a year. - And that fish was one she caught a few years ago; not today's. I've seen goldfish bigger than what we caught today.

I watched a u-tube on some kids who launched a doughnut into outer space with a balloon.
Sherrel - 😂 I laughed when I read that. Somehow, I picture you as a fella who makes good use of your time!

Curt - I really like what you are doing on the layout. I'm glad you post photos!

Have a wonderful evening, everyone!

Good Evening all. Well we got all the gifts have been porch delivered in preparation for a Christmas Eve Zoom. The weather is supposed to turn nasty tomorrow so we spent the day delivering gifts. Need to find a bundle of firewood for a Christmas eve fire, maybe hot chocolate w/ marshmallows.

$600 is better than a stick in the eye but I can't image it helping anyone get caught up. I don't think you can rent a place for $600, a family's groceries for a month? It is maddening to see all the pork added to the bill that has absolutely nothing to do with Covid-19.

Willie - Be sure the tables are positioned 6 feet apart, got to protect the wee people

Kleiner - Looks like a nice space giving you lots of options

Curt - Some good progress

STAY SAFE

LATER (HO, HO, HO)

Careful... Some of y'all's comments about stimuluses and viruses are dangerously close to politics...
Not at all, viruses= stay at home and work on trains. Stimuluses= money to buy trains. No politics, all train related. However talking about government agencies such as the post office packages could be considered politics seeing how they were involved in ballots.😇

Minnesota was nailed by a blizzard today, unfortunately that meant I had to cancel my club night. Oh well.

I am well stocked on beer for the holidays! Work gave me two sixers and a four pack, on top of stuff I bought monday night as special for Christmas.

Otherwise, I'm planning a second try at a "One train, two layouts" video. Milwaukee Road transcon departing MSP (North Metro) and bound for Tacoma (Hennepin Overland). Not sure what I want for power. All four of my ScaleTrains SD40-2's, or two FP45's, SD45 and SD40-2? I like mixed lashups, but I really like having sound-equipped locos for video.
