boB, I concur on the Jim Beam, as long as the only thing it gets mixed with is Ice. Mixing with soda is not only a sin, but for sissies.;)

Good evening folks

It has been a long day. I spent a good portion on the road. We had to go look at a couple of new projects in Bucks County. The first project outside of Doylestown is an expressway rehab project. Lots of concrete patching, and updating safety features. These types of projects look easy on the surface but cam quickly become nightmares.

The other project was along River Road. It is another wall replacement project along the historic Delaware Canal north of Center Bridge. We have a 1300 foot wall on top of a 30 to 40 foot embankment that is being undermined. They have been band-aiding it with wood planks for years. Now it is starting to get critical. Again easy but hard to build. Looks like another detour since we have to rip out half the road to build the new wall. Last time we had a job like this and had to close the road I had to attend a public meeting. Problem was I did not realize my rear was the main course on the menu. I felt lucky to walk out of there that night. This project is just down the road from the other one.

All toll I drove or rode about 140 miles.

Got home and passed out until I had to take my daughter to flute. Then it was change the filter in the pond.

Tomorrow we are back in Bucks County. This time we are looking at a bridge replacement project in the historic village of Knitnersville. We are meeting with people from the state Department of Environmental Protection. These are the folks who issue the permits we need. It is 55 miles one way to the project site. Looks like another long one.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Evening everyone.

Bob, those poor dogs. I'm surprised none of them tried to bite you. :) As for the law suit, anyone can sue you - whether they can win is another question. They can cost you a lot of money even if you win, especially if they have no assets you can go after in a countersuit.

OK, I can see that my basement is doomed no matter what I do. If you're going to do hyperspeed trains, at least use my old Athern UP F-7 with the Hi-F drive. That baby will break the sound barrier. :D Clean up most of the vomit and assorted other bodily fluids though, please - they really start to smell bad in a hot Alabama summer. Watch what you shoot against the walls too. They are all cinderblock and hitting one can hurt.

Up in Birmingham now, getting ready to hit the hay, since we have to be up at 0410. With luck, I'll be in Cancun this time tomorrow.

Rex Is the auburn Cheerleader not a double bagger, best give the guests a bag each in case the wind generated by Jim's supersonic trains blows the cheerleaders bag off of her head. I always think a train looks cool shooting off the end of a spur into a big valley at the end, mine did when my son did it our old railroad when it was being built, many bits of box car SD40-2 later it was like new again :)

There was a guy near where Chris now lives, that one weekend he built a long straight track outdoors with the last couple of pieces turned upward. He pointed it at his lake in his backyard, placed individual Marx locomotives on it, and hooked them up to 120 volts. He launched them into the middle of his lake, and said he got more enjoyment out of doing it than the trains were worth.:D

Good morning everyone.

Our store has finally moved into the twenty-first century, we have Internet! Not that I should be on here all day, but it's nice to have something to do in the down time.

I hear we're having a party at Jim's place again. I sure hope someone brings a pressure washer for the joint after Chris is done with it. Jim, I sure hope you have a better vacation than some of your previous outings.

I spent bits and pieces of my day off yesterday adding grout lines to existing building kits. I was working on my kit that I had started redoing the other day when I realized that I had skipped that part in my rush to get kits built. It's funny how I was thinking that those couple buildings just didn't fit in with the rest of the city scene. Now they look like part of the 'real' world. Thanks to the crappy weather we had yesterday, I got a lot of modeling done.

The boss is gone today, so I think I'll take it easy at work.

Have a great day everyone.

Chris needs to wear his speedo's for that cheerleader. He-She comes from Key West!:D.

I have three Bama cheerleaders and their sisters lined-up. One is going to bring her Grandma for Bob. (Ouch!)

Hey!!! I've seen some pretty good lookin' grandmas in my time. Look at me, I'm one fine lookin' grandpa......

lraK, next to moose, elk is my favorite meat. Very tender and sweet. Maybe a short bath in some of my JD-based BBQ sauce....

Do you ever wonder why your eyesight gets worse as you age? It's so your spouse looks as good as you remember them. For a few women, beauty is just a light switch a way!:D

For some that might be true, but weve only been married 2 1/2 years. I'd have to have some crazy macular degeneration for that to apply!!!:D

My eyesight always got worse at closin' time............. I can still shoot a gnat off'n a fly's a** at 200 yards. The scope is just cranked up a bit more that's all.

I can honestly say that I'm legally blind in the state of Rhode Island without my spectacles or contact lenses. But with them I still have my night vision which some of my buddies think is better than infrared. Great for night huntin' in the woods or slippin' a duck boat into a slough before light.

LraK, I do think you would like grilled elk. An elk steak and some walleye fillets makes fer some tasty "surf and turf", that's a fact!!! Add a cold beer(or two), some cornbread, fried taters w/green peppers and onions, and some fresh tomato slices, maybe some creamed cucumber slices, and I think I've died and gone to Heaven!!!

And what happens when you catch Grandma? You're too outta breath to even speak, even if she lets you catch her. I usually wait until Angela makes her 2nd lap past the couch and trip her.

Bob

Had a good old giggle tonight at the fire station, we had a lecture on railways by a very non railway person. he asked if anyone knew anything about trains so i kept quiet, and what jolly good entertainment it was to, when he started his questions and nobody knew i started on my answers in glorious technical detail, lmao it was so funny watching him in total bemusement :)

Took the new gas tank put of it's box this morning and put in the fuel tank vent plug and the fuel flow and sending unit assembly. That decided it wanted to be a pain in the rear. The assembly has two (2) indexing tabs on it that are supposed to align with two corresponding notches in the side of the tank. Guess what! Old Murphy must have been around because only one of the tabs lined up properly. The other one was off by just a 16th of an inch. After fighting with it for about thirty minutes I got out the Dremel and fitted it with the diamond cutoff wheel. I then carefully but quickly ground off the 16th of an inch from the tab that was causing the problem. After that the unit dropped in and locked into place just like it was supposed to. After all that putting the lock ring on it was child's play. The tank is of pretty good size and being made of steel is quite heavy, therefore it's quite a job for one person to lift. My nephew and I will fit it into it's place under the van between now and Monday. I just know that if I try tackling it on my own old man Murphy will be there beside me howling with laughter as I juggle the tank, the straps and the tools. Just one more step to getting the old girl road worthy again.

Jeffery, I was just sitting here and a thought came to my mind. I just remembered a company, J.C. Whitney, that sold OEM parts much cheaper than through dealerships or parts houses. Been YEARS since I dealt with them. We used to buy quite a lot of oddball things from them. Shifter knobs, steering wheel "sissy knobs", novelty pedals and such. I wonder if they are even still around.

If you have a floor jack, you can put a 18" square piece of plywood on the lifting foot, put the tank on the plywood, and jack the tank into place. You probably won't drop it, either.

boB,,, they are still around, the catalog is great "reading room" fodder when you have already read all the RRR mags each month, or http://www.jcwhitney.com/

Count me in for the Elk & Walleye dinner, sounds delish!!

So true, but after 43 years I would have to be blind and with a danged good imagination:D:D. (Boy, I'm glad she doesn't read these posts!)

Oh yeah, they're still around. I get several emails a month from them and I do look through their online catalog once in a while. I already checked there for the steering column I need. No dice. They don't even have many of the parts needed to build one.

Likewise!(as far as her not reading this) My wife is still hot, she just isn't eighteen year old hot. I should talk, I'm developing the Willard double chin quite nicely! Still, I'm glad I'm not blind when she's around.:D
