In rare instances, men taking PDE5 inhibitors (oral erectile dysfunction medicines, including VIAGRA) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to these medicines or to other factors. If you experience sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking PDE5 inhibitors, including VIAGRA, and call a doctor right away.

Might not be a bad side effect if she's ugly!

Happy Anniversary Jim & Mrs Jim!!!

Audrey and I have our anniversary just after Xmas---yes, THAT time of the year:eek:--and we're thinking about going to a ski lodge near Huntsville for ours this year. Your's should be fun!!:D:D:D

My job, thank goodness is through a private firm---I've done "snivel servant"( a term used up here by those very staff:eek::eek:) work before----strange bosses exist therein:eek::eek: I'm just not equipped to handle that type of thing. Too many bosses and not enough doers---:rolleyes:

Jim This was discussed for some time during and after a long time supervisors illness and retirement. She had selected me for some dang reason:eek::rolleyes: It's different that is for sure----and yes, these guys take pride in their work:):):)

I see Jeff's got a full day planned!
And it's not over yet. We've been getting everything set up. The chairs and tables are set out and draped in white linen, two large barrel fans and two heavy duty swamp coolers have been set up to keep the congregation cool and paper an dwood fans have been provided. The ceremony starts at 7:30 and I'll be there, camera in hand, in my usual formal attire, cheap slacks and a T-shirt. I've never claimed to be a snappy dresser. We're expecting quite a crowd.

You have to have a thick skin and the right attitude to be a state employee particularly with the DOT around these parts. We are the subject of all kinds of ridicule. I have heard every shoveling leaning joke there is and endure countless pothole complaints. I have had bottles thrown at from passing cars on I-95; had to jump over guide rail because someone thought it was funny to drive close to the edge and scare the DOT worker. The work is steady and it does have it moments. I have worked construction, survey, and mostly highway design.

The one story I like to tell and I even use this on trainees is about one of my first projects. It was on a bypass that is near my home and I was well aware of the problems with the road. Over the years the concrete surface had gotten polished by the wear and tear of traffic. When it rained the road became a skating rink. It had a small grass median. Cars would slide on the pavement, across the median, and into opposing traffic. There were some horrible accidents and several fatalities. The roadway was being overlayed with black top and right before they were going to put out the contract it was decided to add a median barrier. I got the assignment of designing the median barrier. Design is used loosely here, since I had to select the system from a pre-approved list. I then had to calculate quantities, prepare specifications, and an estimate. The project and the median barrier got built.

A few years later on a dark and misty night I was returning from the mall and came across an accident on the roadway. A car had smashed into the barrier. From the look of the damage to the car and the barrier the driver had moving at a high rate of speed. I found out in the paper the next day, the driver was drunk and police estimated he was going 80 to 85 MPH when he hit the barrier. The barrier held and he walked away with a couple of broken bones and some cuts. The barrier had saved one life and possible several others since this was a busy time on the road. I drive that stretch of road several times a week and I look at every hit on that barrier as a life saved. In the 20 plus years since the barrier went up there have been no crossover accidents and no fatalities on that stretch of road. No one has ever said thank you to me but I know that over the years there have been several families very thankful that barrier is there.

Good evening folks.

Happy Anniversary Jim!

I've been watching my five year old niece the last day and a half so I haven't had time to do anything. What a wonderful form of birth control a five year old can be! She's pretty sweet though, so not too many problems. She's just spoiled that's all.

I've been adding glass to my hotel and spray painting a new kit. With as humid as it is today, nothing is drying as fast as usual. I think I'll have a few kits in various states of completion for a while. That's okay, it seams I'm waiting for either paint or glue to dry all of the time. I may as well get the painting and gluing out of the way. I think I'll get most of my kits painted and assembled. Then I'll go back and add the signage and details.

Boy, summer sure gets busy huh?

I hope you all have a good night.

Hey Chris! Don't worry about getting a lay-off; just get a job having to do with global warming. I just heard Al Gore's net worth has risen 5,000% over the last eight years and since he has been a GW activist. For him, going GREEN means "Mo Money!".

Good morning.

It's 78 and clear. The high should be around 99 and it will be partly cloudy and there is a chance of rain.

The wedding yesterday went off without a problem. My niece and her fiance are now husband and wife and quite relieved that the hoopla is overwith. The two were married shortly after 8 pm and the reception lasted far into the night. One thing that got quite a bit of attention. My nephew stocked the coolers with drinks. They're were soft drinks as well beer but the only thing put on ice was the Bud Lite. Two big coolers full. The soft drinks were left to sit in the sun. It was very evident what was important to him. Fortunately there was more than enough ice to go around. The food provided was standard outdoor BBQ fare, BBQ beef, BBQ hot links, potato salad and baked beans. The groom made sure he threw his family members into the pool with the noted exception of five. Myself, his father-in-law, his mother-in-law and my parents. It had been made clear to him that doing such a thing would insure that he would be exploring hitherto unexperienced realms of pain. Speaking of my brother-in-law (the aforementioned father-in-law of the groom) he is now a very happy camper. Not only has he unloaded a daughter but his Jeep (his favorite toy) is running again, thanks to his son who put a new engine and transmission in it. He spent most of the day yesterday running around in it running errands and hauling things in for the big event. The big swamp coolers were the most appreciated of these items and we wasted no time getting them set up. Most of the activities that followed took place in the environment created by these big machines. They made the unbearable heat bearable and kept everyone comfortable.

Good morning folks

It was 64 F as I headed out onto the accident filled highways this morning. High will be 86 F.

I had to do some bushwhacking this morning thanks to a couple of wrecks on my normal commuting route. Luckily I heard about them early and it did not cost me too much time.

I had to take my daughter to her flute lesson last night.

While searching for something else I found an unopened bottle of Solvaset. I began to renumber the Accurail boxcar as a result.

Happy Anniversary Jim!

I hope everybody has a good day.

also have a Plant a tree scam going too!

I'm not planting anymore trees cuz of the new neighbors! I planted a 6 ft Maple tree at the back corner of the property. Bambi and his mom come out of the woods and start eating the leaves off the damn thing. I get out the shotgun and, realizing all I had was birdshot, just shot near them to scare them off. Neighbor a 1/4 mile away starts whining to the DNR that I'm hunting deer out of season! The DNR officer was cool about it, no foul as far as he was concerned, but the aggrevation took a while to cool off.
I was planning to put a tree ever 50 ft along the back of the lot, but not if I have to put fencing and anti-deer repellant spray on them all!!
Of course, I could just wait til November, when the real deer season starts and buy a box of slugs in the meantime!! After all, I still can't convince the nitwits that Bambi would be a lot more useful in my freezer than he would be impaled on the hood of thier car!!!!

Hi All, Life is strange. Thank you for still being here.We have been wandering from place to place looking for a new place to hide from all the taxes et.al and have not found a better place to hide as yet.So here we still areat the beach hiding behind the sand dunes and chasing off the tourists. Both of us are in "good shape" meaning we have not been in hosp. so far this year.Model RR has recieved two awards for work. Both from 4L group a first in work trains and a second in diorama. CHUCK AND KATHY

Afternoon, everyone.

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. I guess three years still makes us comparative newlyweds. ;) There are certainly times when I wonder how she has put up with me so far but it's been reciprocal so it all works out.

Karl, I didn't notice my Freudian slip until you pointed it out. Funny how those things go. We didn't get far in War and Peace but found other ways to occupy our time. No TV and no internet, which makes it a lot easier to pay attention to one another. No need of for any Viagra yet, thank goodness. When I was doing my paramedic training, we did actually pick up a guy who was having one of those hours long erections. Believe me, he wasn't interested in any nurse, hot or not. The finally had to take the poor guy to surgery to relieve the "stoppage". I think I'll avoid any ED drugs for as long as possible.

Jeffrey, sounds like a good wedding. We had those swamp cooler fans at ours also and it made things at least bearable. That's funny about the beer getting iced up and the soft drinks out in the sun. I guess he's a guy who knows how to party. :)

BOC, I'm glad to hear you're working for a private firm. Most of the government people I've met who were responsible for child and dependent adult welfare left a lot to be desired. I had a lot of dealings with Child Protective Services as a cop in California and most of their people seemed to worry about almost anything other than the welfare of the child we were trying to place with them. A ski lodge sounds like a great place to spend your anniversary, especially if you have a nice fire place and get snowed in. I assume you mean Huntsville up there rather than our Huntsville down here. There's not a a lot of skiing in Alabama.

Tom, that's a great story about the barrier. With all the crap you have to put up with, that barrier makes it all worthwhile. There are things like that that happen every day and no one but the people involved know about what a blessing they've created. I had a few experiences like that when I was running searches for missing persons. My training and instinct allowed me to direct teams to the right place at the right time. No one even knew who I was since I stayed out of the limelight but I always looked back on those times when I felt like chucking the whole thing.

Corey, babysitting nieces is certainly a good way to decide how much you want to be a parent. :p

Chris, I only put in five years in civil service in LA County as a deputy. This was back in 1968 to 1973. We never had budget problems and I still decided that full time civil service work was not for me. I was a reserve deputy in Sonoma County from 1978 until 2004 and was technically a civil servant employee since they paid me a buck a year and had union representation if there was a beef against me. The civil service aspect didn't bother me much then. What where they going to do - cut my pension? :D

Karl, this is what you need for those pesky deer...http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM018-5.html. Blank rounds but they make plenty of noise and flash so they are a good flash bang for deer to scare them off. They are pretty corrosive though so clean the weapon good after a few rounds.

Chuck and Kathy, we haven't met before. What taxes are you trying to flee from? Don't know where you are now but Alabama's a pretty good state for low taxes, especially property taxes. That's one of the reasons I live here now instead of California, the tax and fee capital of the nation.

We went to see Beehive last night. (Warning, rant ahead) The first act was really fun, with a reprise of all the girl group songs of the early 60's. The second act started with the assassination of President Kennedy, then Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King. The singers were doing political stuff from Janis Ian, Janis Joplin, and Joan Baez with a "tribute" to Woodstock. I was in Algebra class when I heard about President Kennedy, in the police academy when Robert Kennedy dies, and out on the street getting shot at during the post King assassination riots. I think the world as I knew it ended with those assassinations and we went from typical teenage songs about love and dances to songs filled with drug and political references. We went from almost no one outside the ghetto using drugs in 1964 to almost every kid in America using drugs by 1969. Respect for authority collapsed and being a police officer was considered a sign you were brutal or too dumb to do anything else. IMHO, when the history of the 20th century is written, the period from 1965 to 1975 will go down as the worst period of social collapse of the times. (end of rant) The women in the play were great singers and the back up band was outstanding. If you're not my age and didn't have my experiences, I'm sure it would be a very enjoyable evening.

We had a nice little thunderstorm go through about an hour ago and dropped .31 inches of rain. Not exactly a gully washer but we'll take what we can get. The rain dropped the temperature from 90 down to 77 in about 15 minutes but it's back up to 90 again now that sun is out. The dew point is 78 and the heat index is 105 so it's time to go out and get a free sauna bath.

Chris I've been seeing A LOT of that lately up here!!:mad: Why do they get all that abuse?!?!:eek::eek::confused:

Good Question, I'll answer it with what happened today with me at the park!

Let me slide Jim's Soap box over here.................

Today at 2:00pm Our Park Maintance Supervisor (PMS) entered our park with an poorly written E-mail Complaint about Mario(Park Operator) and Myself(Groundskeeper II). The E-mail was About how My boss and I drove around the park some time around 6/25/09 to 7//02/09 following this woman and her husband around the park watching them like they were doing something wrong. and the letter went on how our park is a mess all the time and that we don't do our jobs! She apparently E-mailed this letter to the #3 person in charge of Pasco County! Well as you can guess this filtered down the chain of command and everyone in on the witch hunt not fully investigating everything had me and my boss hung out to dry..........Well we have the #1 rated Facility in the county and everyday we spend 8 hours sweating over the site to get it that way. The PMS and his bosses said we shouldn't drive around the park following people:confused: I asked the PMS to read the letter again out loud so I could Point out how the letter was a sorry attempt to get some one fired! The Letter was sent to County Administrator on 7/2/09 and all this happend sometime between 6/28/09 to 6/30/09:eek::confused: LOL's I was laughing at the PMS and I said, "Silly Richard, I was in Orlando! I was on vacation from 6/24 thru 7/6! How the hell could me and Mario been in the same truck!":mad::confused::mad:

There are some sick people out there with an Axe to grind.........They run around looking for someone to sharpen it on! The County Tag on the vehicals we drive and uniforms we wear have an invisable Targets on them and anyone with a slightest beef with the government will complain over nothing! and take it out on us!

Well now I have to do another form of a tracking sheet for the rest of my days in the county to prove I'm working! I have to write down how I spend every seconded of every work day in the park!:mad::mad: I still got in trouble....not written up but in trouble never the less!:mad::mad:

I think something bigger is going on here! I can't quite put my finger on it but I think someone has it out for me and mario.....This isn't the first time we went through something like this! We'll see how this plays out, I don't think it's over yet!

Government Jobs ain't for the thin skined!!!!!!!!!!

Oh BTW: Jim, Glad you had a good time! Next time stick with dinner and Bed room games! Not much you can find to complain about and all partys involed have a great time!!!!!!!LOL's
