Hello

We got rid of the dang drizzle and now we have ----- showers!!

I'm still in the basement--cleaning---and finding things we lost:)---there is a black hole in our basement-----:eek:

It is nice to see that no one found that soap box--it can get rather LOUD in here at times:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:

And RexMY vacation is not until August----so we'll see what the weather brings then:eek::):)---and it does seem that some are starting to get a little peeked looking at times---:D:D:D:D

Evening gang
Day 1 of the holiday yard sale is over. Not a bad haul after all. I got rid of almost 200 bucks worth of junk, (now choo-choo funds) and the wife did almost as well with her stuff. At 2pm we called it quits and loaded everything up in the Ranger and the dumpcart on the back of the mower, and parked both in the garage til tomorrow. I keep threatening to open the tailgate , back the truck down the driveway then slam on the brakes to unload if I'm not greeted tomorrow morning with a warm smile and a cup of hot coffee as soon as I open my eyes! She just looks at me and says "I got your coffee, right here buddy!"
Gosh I like a girl with spunk!!! :D
Saturdays are the typical yard sale days around here, so the haul oughta be better!

Jeff I know all about holes in Lowes cards. This is why I don't take her with me to Lowes anymore, cuz the card shrinks while the honey-do list grows!!

Rex Did I hear late summer roadtrip up north??:p

Uh-oh, SWMBO just hollered, she's got another box for me to schlep out to the garage! Oh good greif!

I don't have a Lowes or a Menards card and do not want either. I did go to Frank Miller Lumber in Union City, IN on Tues and dropped almost $500. It is all hardwood veneer plywood, Solid red oak and Birch 1X's. Got some cabinetry to build for Both Daughters utility rooms and our utility room gets the birch. Ours could prove to be interesting as I will be trying to match some 22 year old stain that was a custom mix of which I have no more and some of the cabinets will sitting next to each other. As for both Daughters the stain will be the same color for both sets and in different rooms. That makes theirs much easier because they will not be touching. YEAH!! now off to see if Glendia wants to go and watch any fireworks, I hope not cause they is a waste of time.

Evening, everyone.

Larry, hush your mouth, fireworks are one of the greatest inventions of all times. How many times can you not be in the military and get to blow things up. :)

I had a long post all done and Vista managed to do something weird because IE tried load some add-on and it lost my whole message.. Talk about the nanny state, I've got it right here in my computer.

Karl, nice haul from one day. I think that's a sign you have too much stuff to being with. I oculdn't believe how much stuff I had to sell when I left California. I got over $1500 for it and still ended up filling up a dumpster with things I couldn't give away. NOthing like going from a three bedroom house to a motorhome to make you think carefully about what you really need.

Geez, BOC, you guys are hogging all the rain in North America. It has to stop raining there one of these days and start here...I hope. :(

Jeff, sounds like that new high efficiency A/C unit is highly efficient. :D Lord knows, you need it down there.

I actually did a little work on the layout today. Made some advertising flags for the gas station and finally covered my last piece of exposed pink foam with some ground cover. Nothing fancy but at least it's not pink now. :D

Every soap box thing about MJ has already been said but what's the deal with Sarah Palin up and resigning today? I suspect there's more to this story that will be coming out in the next week or so. Seems like the Republican party is bent on self-destruction.

Good Morning and a
Happy 4th of July
to all from Ye Olde London Towne.
I'll be raising a glass or 2 of Rogue IPA (Oregon) to toast our cousins across the pond.

This past week several of us ended up in Rotherhithe crawling between pubs. We came upon a plaque marking the site of a jetty which dated from the 1600's , St Mary's Church, and a pub originally named the Shippe. Lets see how many of you recognise the significance of those places.

Rex: no grudges here. :D I've worked in Houston, Spokane, Seattle, & Costa Mesa. My dad was born in Boston, and I have a brother in Oregon. Guess that sort of makes me a semi-honorary yank. Until we moved to the UK 6 years ago we'd spent nearly every July 4th in Glacier Park Montana.

Jim: MJ to SP, just another whack-job. That woman scares me. What is more frightening is not knowing who is pulling her strings.

We were supposed to have rain yesterday, did we get rain? Did we bollocks. We were supposed to have rain today. Is it raining? Is it bollocks. etc, etc, etc. Official temp is already 22c. Back yard thermometer says 27. Doesn't sound too hot but at 97% humidity it bloody sticky and uncomfortable.

My honey-do list has been backing up and growing. I now need 3 weekends this week alone just to catch up and stop falling behind. Lets see, fence panels to fit, posts to straighten, train shed to paint and insulate and wire and secure windows and and and and ......................

BOC and Terry, It's Jim building the soap boxes! Look here's another one just lying on the ground:)

Andrew, Sadly every body has someone else pulling their strings. Most of us our wives have that job!:)

I'm using Jim's soap box and changing the subject to human behavior topic......
Here's a good soap box topic ( http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/local/hillsborough/Hills_sheriff_faces_lawsuit_ ) ! This is truely a growing problem in the world, do some research and follow this story it will get you POed! But it needs to be addressed........If ya have daughters they really need to see what happens when wrong choices are made and you get involved with with people before you get to know them! This is a great wake up call, "GOVERNMENT is not responsible fer your Stupid Actions, YOU ARE!"

I got 3 yards to mow today, then I can relax some. The rain should hold off today. This vacation has been a long one and it almost over. Hate to say it I'm itching to get back to work.

Good morning.

It's 79 and clear. The high will be around 100.

The other day it was 106 here and 90 inside my trailer with the AC blowing warm. That surely wouldn't do. The old unit was slaving away yesterday morning keeping it cool in here but after it's miserable performance the previous day I wasn't going to trust it. Yesterday I stopped by Lowe's and got a new one. With a neighbors help I got the old unit out of the window and the new one in. After that I could do the rest myself. Caulking around it required only two tubes of silicone caulk (I had bought 5) that I'd gotten for the job. The old unit was rated for 10,000 Btu, the new one is rated for 12,000 Btu. That extra 2,000 makes a lot of difference. I went to town after the unit was in operation. I had to take those extra tubes of caulk back to Lowe's after all. That put $17 back on my credit card. When I got back home I walked in and immediately turned the unit down. It was 65 in here! Quite a shock after the 102 outside. I had to play around with it a bit but I have it set now so that it maintains an even 70. On the model front, I did more work on the M.T. Arms Hotel. I put in the roof, chimney and doors. I also made the finishing touches on the BN 50' plug/sliding door box car.

Hello

Can you tell I'm all piculous?:D:D:D:D

We got a couple of days of a mix of sun/cloud with the emphasis on the sun and the high will be around 23C.

Chris I can see only a small thing with that. If you have qualified personel and these guys ain't working--like they are supposed to then---OTOH---if she knew the guy was TROUBLE then why-----:mad::mad:---ain't emotions wonderful? The emotional side of the brain takes over and PHTOOOF!!! There goes the brain!!:eek:

Jim I'm NOT even going to go near the SP thing!! That'd get me on another schpiel!!:mad:

Well, I got some lawn cutting to do and some weeding to do and some----I better get off this schtick as well----;);)

Have a good one---

Good morning folks.

I was on my way home yesterday when I spotted some yellow passenger cars moving past the depot. The only other time I've seen those was when the UP Challenger came through town last year. Well, this short train was lead by the KATY Heritage locomotive. It's not as exciting as seeing a steamer, but it was still neat. Not something you see everyday.

We're leaving for my mothers lake place so I'll talk to you guys tomorrow.

Happy Independence Day!

Let me climb on the soap box:D.........

According to the News:????
From what I followed from this story/Drama is: She is a typical (System People) she was raised on it as a kid and will live on it as an adult....This is all they know, to them working the system is a JOB!----He is a Gang member/up and comming drug dealer with a rap sheet a mile long. The two split up due to domestic violence and a restraining order was put on him. He wiggled his way back into her life. (JMO, she need more money than what the state provided and he had money being a drug dealer) They had an argument and he hauled off with their baby which he through from a moving car which killed the baby. BTW; He might be getting put to sleep for it too! GOOD:D! and Now she's sueing the state fer her letting him back into her life![/U]:rolleyes::mad:

STATE can't and should not protect you from yourself if yer a idiot hell bent on self destruction!:( Now if'n yer Medically found to be mentally unstable and a danger to yourself and others she should have been Baker Acted! But I do believe she knew what she was doing and full aware of the dangers of having Wonder Boy around! It's all going to come out in the wash any ways, and she Might get time for Child endangerment!

JMO, she's sueing the system cause with out the kid she gets kicked off the system (Remember she's more than likely lived off the sysem for so long that going to work is not an Option). So in order to keep getting money for nothing from the state she must either produce another kid or Sue the state for Tons of $$$$$$$$ so she won't have to go back on the system!....JMO

Now, we have the Baby killed by boy friends pet python!:( JMO a mirror case as above, BUT they are both getting charged with child endangerment!

JMO....Crappy parenting in both cases. and I believe the system is responsible some cause it creates a entitlement state of mind by giving hand out's! and not give a hands up which creates a self worth confedence mentallity! Sad, truely sad JMO!:o

Sorry for the rant:) The subject is near and dear to me!:(

Afternoon, everyone.

Andrew, I was in London during the summer as a small child. I remember it as being unbearably hot since air conditioning didn't exist. The big story of the day was the London Stock Exchange took the extraordinary step of not requiring traders to wear a tie and jacket! How times have changed. Don't worry, though, London is always closer to rain and cool weather than a heat wave, unlike Alabama. :)

Jeffrey, sounds like that new A/C unit will do the job. Now you need to make a new sign for it. :D

BOC, it's about time you had sun and stopped stealing our rain. Looks like the trough is befinning to slide south and a high pressure ridge is building north. That gives up some hope that we may finally get some rain. The thing with Sarah Palin is really bizarre. I'm sure more details will come out.

Corey, at least you got to see some kind of passenger train. The only one I've seen in years is at the Montgomery Zoo. :(

Chris, two things learned in law enforcement. The first is that, unless you're working the case, almost everything reported in the news is either wrong or sensationalistic. I have no idea why this girl was in this car with this guy. I'm sure she was under some kind of court order to stay away from him and he's probably on parole and was ordered to stay away from her. The police and child protective services do have a positive requirement to carry out court orders but they aren't there 100% of the time so almost anyone can get around any kind of supervision, if they are smart enough (or dumb enough, sometimes).

The second thing I learned is that anyone can sue for anything but it doesn't mean you'll win. I was sued twice when I was a deputy, once for excessive use of force and the second for groping an intoxicated female at a traffic stop. Both cases were dismissed without me even having to put on a defense because the plaintiffs had such weak cases. California finally passed a law allowing a defendant or the state to recover costs in the case of a frivolous law suit and this woman had to pay the DA $5,900 in costs when the judge ruled her case was frivolous. If Florida doesn't have a law like this, it needs one. The number of lawsuits, particularly against government agencies, plummeted after the law was passed. Our county also had a policy of never settling a case out of court. It cost money in the short run but saved us a bundle in the long run because people who were working the system sued for everything hoping to get a quick out of court settlement.

It's still blazing hot in the Heart of Dixie, with a temperature of 103 and a humidity of 18%. The weather guessers are saying we might get some thunderstorms tomorrow but we are going to have to moisten up the atmosphere a heck of a lot in the next 24 hours. We are having homemade barbeque, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, and lemonade - hows that for a Southern Fourth? My wife bought a Boston butt for the barbeque. No, don't laugh, all you real Southerners, but I thought a Boston butt was some guy's read end who happened to come from Boston. I had no idea that's where barbeque meat comes from. Dianna just rolls her eyes and considers me an idiot about such things.

Hello

AAHH---the joys of gardening. I forgot the sunscreen so now I'll pay for it with a lot of OUCHIES---

Chris the problem with mass stupidity anymore is no one really sees/hears the whole story. The dang girl--being a "cash cow" for the social work field---(and don't get me started on that soap box!:mad:) was arguably required to be rendered D-UHLL by that very system. My sister--the pottery artist who graduated from Sheridan college--was told SHE was borderline retarted!! All she had for an issue was Dyslexia---no one wanted to WORK with her to help her learn---GRRR!!:mad:
ANYHOOOO---That whole issue is complicated by a lawyer who is looking for a PILE OF CASH FOR HIMSELF:eek::mad::mad:-----with the poor girl as someone else's CASH COW.:(

All kinds of soapboxes lyin' around here--

Jim It's nice to see the sun around here---I was starting to wonder what sun was!!:D:D----The SP thing I'm staying clear of---note what happened above!!!

I'll catch up with everyone later!!:):):)

Good morning.

It's 79 and sunny. The high will be in the upper 90's and there's a chance of thunderstorms tonight.

Yesterday I received my invitation for my niece's wedding. I also got the grocery shopping done and picked up three more DVD's. I got the Smokey and the Bandit trilogy, the Alien trilogy and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I paid like $40 for all of them. That works out to something like $5.70 per movie. I've also been putting the finishing touches on getting my computer going again. Oh yeah, I had a hard drive crash around the middle of the week. I resurrected the hard drive the same day and reinstalled Windows XP and the software required for the basic operation of the computer. Over the last several days I've been installing the different applications and copying tons of backed up data from DVD's and CD's. I'm just taking my time at it as I have no reason to hurry.

Morning gang!
Day 2 of the yard sale was a bust........seems hardly nobody was out buying on a holiday :( . So we packed it in a little early, took a shower and a nap, then watched Nascar while the neighbors put on on heck of a fireworks show across the street. Poor Midnight! I think he got fluffier with every volley! :D
Today is a day of relaxin, and chillin. :) No soap boxes here, seems we used them all to pack up the unsold junk! Besides, too much hot air out there already. ;)
Peace out Homies, life's too short to count the gray hairs!:)

Hello

We be getting another day of SUN!! YAY!!!:D:D:D:D the high today will be 24C with the low tonight of 11C. Tomorrow---back to 70% chance of showers/ those t'underin' boomers:eek::(

The neighbour and I got the 2nd batch of fireworks up last night in honour of your holiday---we had 100+ people show up and the neighbourhood youth group now has some more $$$$ in it's coffers:):)---and we still have some for tonight:)

Karl We do not have any more soapboxes here either----I think the heat burned them out!!:eek::)

Today will be weed the Veggie patch and do some floor work in the basement----maybe do some BBQ'ing later----:):):D

the neighbors put on on heck of a fireworks show across the street. Poor Midnight! I think he got fluffier with every volley!
My niece's great dane ran and hid! We looked all over for him for a couple of hours. My sister noticed that the fern next to her back door was shaking. There was no wind so something had to be making it move. You guessed it! It was the great dane. He was curled up in a tight ball and shaking like a leaf.

Just read in Reuters news on the puter that a Monorail driver was killed this morning at Disney World in Orlando. Not to many facts.
