Well got the lawn remowed and the grass in wind rows. Glendia go t home from the gym and helped ,me pick it all up. We then decided the garden needed tilled. Trying to hoe in 90 degree temps is not for the faint of heart. Matter of fact it ain't fer the strong hearted either. I came into the house at 6PM and drank 3 large glasses of iced tea in about 30 minutes. rested for an hour and went back out and fired up the tiller. After 45 minutes came back in and drank another 2 glasses of tea and a glass of ice cold milk with supper. Still need to get out and start putting the tools of tillage away. Don't know what the heat index was but It sure were a warm un.

Oh God, is right! I'm back and it will be every long time before that will ever happen again:)!........My wallet had a heart attack and died at the resort:(! I burried the poor thing under a palm tree, I know my wallet is in a better place now:o You guys left one hell of a mess:rolleyes::rolleyes: My God it looked like a war zone here! I still want to know what you did to the dogs:confused: they ain't right:eek::( On the way home today I stoped at a Orlando LHS and picked up two little freight cars for the new layout that was a plus!:D

#2 A quick dip in the pool between the two parks! 108* heat index:eek:

Got more but that good for a start!:D

Evening everyone!

Just the same ol' stuff happening here. Still no internet at the office. I'm glad we had this 3-day reprieve from the rain, Thursday will be the last opportunity for my son to finish mowing our lawn. I'd better 'text' him tomorrow morning to remind him! Train-wise, I'm working on labeling all my CarCards. This is the last major thing I need to do before I can start having op sessions again. Also need to see if I can scrounge up enough reliable-rolling freight cars to make up a train for the FCSME setup in Timonium this weekend.

BOC - Seems like you've been hit with rain every day for the past coupla weeks - how's your lawn doing? Can you still see your house from the road?

Chris - sorry about the condition of your house - but I think there was an element of 'paybax' in there!:D Wish I coulda been there myself, but when my wife saw that Rex was bringing those 'Bama cheerleaders, she vetoed that plan right quick!

Corey - sounds like you passed another major milestone in building your layout. For me, it was when I finally got all my steel mill structures into position. The rest was all downhill from there.

Dogs!!!! Dogs!!!!!! Youse guys said the dogs were going to be OK. I did not get the dogs drunk or give them that reefer although I did give em a couple of T-Bones for being such good watch dogs. They notified us when the local constables were approaching and howled real loud when we got to loud with the music and cheerleaders. hic hic hic hey maaannnn what happpenninning

Ken wanna help an ole retiree setup his DCC system. It is stilll in the box from 3 years ago. I did try to hook it up once but id did not work so back in the box afore I fried sumthiin. I gots 3 Atlas B23-7's decoded and two Kato -9's ready to be decoded. I am starting to get reinterested in doin sumthin on the layout. Colton my Grandson wants Gramps to run trains and I am to please. I'd try and convince Bob to give me a hand but he is moving and won't be around much anymore.

Had a fire dept meeting to go to tonight. After we finished the official stuff we went out and blew out a few clogged up culverts and managed to break the throttle control for the main pump on the pumper truck. It was still possible to throttle the pump up though. The chief (same guy who broke the control) took the left access plate off the control panel and adjusted the throttle by hand. He was sure happy when the work was all done.

Larry if I lived closer to Indy I'd be glad to help you out, but 600 miles is a bit of a haul...:D I forgot, what is it you have - a Digitrax Empire Builder? There's a lot of folks in the Yahoo Digitrax Group that could probably answer any questions you have. I think there's also a tech support phone number listed in the manuals for your command station and throttle. Anyhoo, connecting the wires on your system should be easier than installing a hard-wired decoder. You might want to invest in an inexpensive decoder-equipped model [like Bachmann's GE 70-ton switcher] so you can test the functionality of your system immediately after you set it up.

BOC - you got it easy, I have almost 2 acres of lawn with lots of low-branch trees and other obstacles. Takes me about 3 hours to finish it at normal height, 5 hours when it reaches 6" or higher!

Chris.
Sorry bout the dogs, but Jim started off by putting a little JD in the water bowls (with ice, of course!). Then the dogs started running around like idiots licking and slobbering all over everyone (including the cheerleaders!) The Rex gets the wise idea to pit tabasco on his ankles to stop the little one from lickin him there. Well that didnt stop the lil bugger:eek: Nor the other ones. I think it made them lick more!!! So now they are drunk and thier mouths on fire, making them drink even more doggiefirewater!
So Corey figgured that if we fed them something, the tabasco might not affect them so much. Well we couldnt find the milkbones,, and Jim was guarding the steaks with his service weapon, So Dan comes up with the bright idea to give them an antacid.
Well he gave them Ex-Lax by mistake! Didn't seem to affect them much at the time, but later that evening, we heard a fartin noise by the grills, then saw a ball of flame, then a loud yelp, and I swore I saw the reflection of the little one, streakin across the night sky. Kinda looked like a furry Roman candle with flappin ears! :D
It was kinda hard to tell. Ya know, with my face pressed down on the decklid of that patrol car :o It's ok, they let me go when your mower came by at 90 mph!! But thats another story!:D

Chris, you waited until I moved 3000 miles away to have the really good parties?

Evening, everyone.

Karl, I told you not to tell Chris about the water bowl issue. It was just a spill, not deliberate. It's hard to fill water bowls with one hand and hold a bottle in the other. It would have been easier if Larry and Rex didn't keep crashing into me chasing the girls around to the hot tub. ;) I did wonder why the pups were so thirsty. I was not guarding the steaks, just making sure they were cooked properly. I had my service weapon out taking pot shots at that gator. Chris, sorry about some of the holes in the back of the house but I think my aim was a little off. I wondered what that thing was in the sky when the cops had you spread eagled on the trunk. I guess we can't leave Dan in charge of anything. They were real nice to me when I showed them my ID and told them I had no idea who y'all were. I did put in a good word for you so you didn't get tasered. Good thing the girls came out and gave the officers a hand, if you know what I mean. They were a lot happier when they left. :D :D

Terry, Chris wasn't at this party. It just happened to be at his house since he was gone for a few days. That's why we had such a good time.

Larry, it's really easy to set up DCC. Two wires to the track from the control station is all you need to get started. You can work up to the fancy stuff like CV's and speed tables later. I'm a complete electrical klutz and I've my Digitrax Zephyr running like a top.

Ken, still no internet? How are they getting anything done there? I assume this affecting things like e-mails too. Kind of hard to get much done now without being able to get outside e-mails.

Jeffrey, aren't you glad it was the chief who busted that control and not you? I'm sure he won't live that one down for a while...or does he do thing like this all the time?

BOC, it's got to start drying out there or we are never going to get any rain. :(

Chris, how did that Cheeseburger in Paradise compare to your BBB? We ate at that place in Destin and I wasn't too impressed. It sure looks good in the picture. Nice t-shirt too.

Another warm, sticky night here in the Heart of Dixie. Those baby storms all went south and we had nothing again. Looks like our best chance for rain isn't until Monday. Everything in my yard will be dead by then.

You guys. I need that supercharger we put on the mower back. I have an engine in the garage that looks nekkid without it. It was supposed to be a joke anyway. That cop sure didn't laugh much when he put his patrol car in that pond chasin' it did he?

Bob

The Burger was better than Micky d's and B. Kings But can't touch my BBB's or close to Chili's or ruby tuesdays burgers! If I were to rate to 1=poor and 10=best........I rate the cheese burger a (5) Now Austin(Nephew) ordered the Baby back ribs.....Those were a (8)

We also went to Emerils Chop Shop, Holy crap that was good! I got the yellow tuna steak:p I was in love:)

The shirt is cool, my nephew got the one that has popeye saying, "Don't make me open a can!"

I treat the equipment with the care it deserves. Some of the other guys (chief included) treat it like it's indestructible then are all surprised when it breaks. The hand throttle is meant to be turned, not beaten into submission.

Good morning folks

It was 73 F and the humidity is beginning to pump as I headed in this morning. High will be 86 F with high humidity. We are also under an Air Quality Alert.

Last night was dedicated to our Cub Scout Pack meeting. Afterwards it was recovery time. Nothing else was accomplished.

Tonight might be easy. No ballgames, scouts, or other things. Just a date with the lawn mower and maybe the fish pond filter. My wife will be working at the Zoo this evening for their Zoo Night event.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 79 and sunny. The high is supposed to hit 100 today and it will be sunny.

We got a couple of short showers yesterday but all they did was increase the humidity and make it seem even hotter. The Fire Marshall has finally put a burn ban in place for the general populace for which I'm thankful. The only problem with that is when we get one of these quick showers some country boy thinks it's OK to go out and burn that huge pile of branches and limbs in the back yard. Some of the biggest fires I've been out on started in this way. A short rain shower doesn't make it safe to burn. If there's any doubt consult your local 911 office, fire dept or forestry officials. I went to see my primary care physician yesterday for my 3 month physical. I'll be finding out the results of the lab work today. I have to go see the foot doc today so he can poke and prod my feet some more. One thing I have to do is to level the cutting deck on my father's mower. It's too hot for that today but I may get a chance to do it within a weeks time. You wouldn't believe how hot it is out here. I went out to water my mother's plants yesterday and was drenched with sweat within 5 minutes! You can imagine how I felt while I was helping my fellow fire fighters blow out some plugged culverts yesterday. At least the spray coming from the culverts made that bearable. We were pumping water into them through a 2.5" line at 150+ pounds of pressure. They got cleared quick! We had one of the new guys on the nozzle so he could get an idea of what it's like to handle it in a fire situation.

Hello

We're getting another mix of sun/cloud day with showers and T'storms today expected. Right now we are at 23C with the heat index at 29C. The high today will be 32C with the heat index parked around 38C. Tonight it'll clear up, get foggy and be at 16C for a low. Tomorrow will be the usual with a 40% chance of showers and T'boomers. High for tomorrow will sit at 28C.

Jim Just to make this even more odd the forecast seems to be giving us the fits up here----Temps in the low/mid 20's with showers/T'boomers from Sunday till Wednesday? Which direction is that High going again?

Jeff It might have been a little better if'n you just dowsed yourself with the water instead of the plants!:):)

Well, got a couple of clients to visit today so I'll be taking the camera with me to see what kindsa things I can take pix of-----:rolleyes::D

Have a good one----;)

Good morning folks.

We're sure starting to make up for the lack of rain earlier this year. It's rained at least every other day for a week now. I know we're still behind in moisture, but the air sure doesn't feel like it. It's like wrapping a wet blanket around yourself.

Chris, glad to hear you had a good time. Sorry about the dogs!

Jim, yup, everything is easier if I just tackle it head on. It's a fine line between hurrying and not getting bogged down. I've chosen bogged down according to my wife!

Ken, yes, I'm almost finished with the trestle. The area itself will take a long time to finish, but I'm almost ready to work on something else for a while. I'm going to start building kits at a fever pitch. Once the buildings are done, I can start working on my downtown area. That is the other focal point of the layout. I can't wait!

I have a crazy day at work again. We're right in the middle of wedding season. One bride called and asked if we had in fact ordered their tuxedos for this weekend. Knowing she has a crazy, controlling mother, I yanked her chain a little. I knew her mother made her call. I told her that we sent the tuxes back because we didn't think they were going through with it. She paused and then started laughing. I think I made her day.

I hope you all have a good day. Mine will be one of those days.:)

The lab results from my physical are in. The HDL (good) cholesterol count is a bit low at 37 (less than 40 increases the chance of heart disease). The LDL (bad) cholesterol is 89 (less than 100 is optimal). Total cholesterol is 148 which is good (less than 200 is desirable). There's a little kidney damage so I have to increase my dosage of Fosinipril (Monopril) from once a day to twice a day. All other indicators are within normal ranges. Overall not too bad for a 49 year old (this July 7th) country boy of 267 pounds.
