Good morning.

It;s 73 and foggy. The high will be in the mid 90's and it will partly cloudy.

This morning my father and I will be trying to change out the blades on his new mower, a 42" cut Yardman. We've already tried it with the wrenches. The bolts wouldn't budge. Today we'll hit it with the air impact. That should loosen something, either the bolts or our joints. Usually changing out the blades on a mower isn't much of a problem but it's a first time for this one. Seems like whatever was used to put the bolts on was set too high. The rest of the day will be pretty much open for whatever comes up.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 6/16/2009

Heat Index: 78°F

So Far Today

Low: 73°F
Rain: 0.00"

Tonight Low: 72 Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.

Good morning folks

It was 63 F and the roads were wet and slick this morning but no rain falling. High today will be 73 F with a slight chance showers.

Last evening was a different story. My son’s baseball game was called because of torrential downpours and lightning. It was quite a light show with bolts streaking across the sky. I had to drive in it to pick up my daughter up from flute lesson. I was on the edge of the storm and keep driving from no rain into biblical rain and then back to dry and so on. Made for a nerve racking drive.

I didn’t do much else last night. I never made it down to the basement and the workbench. Maybe tonight?

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning--

We's be getting a mix of sun/cloud today with the showers and those t'undering boomers coming back for tonight, tomorrow, Thursday, Friday---etc--Highs will be in the mid 20'sC with the lows going around 17C.

--------------------------------------

Jim Yep. got that nailed down right. Bangkok is one hot place--a friend of ours works there. We get told about how hot it is a lot!!:rolleyes:;);) Another place that is like that--especially during the summer is Tokyo....

Chris Why do we need another DMSF?? Isn't one enough?:):)

TomPM When it is such that the car feels like it is floating you know there's a lot of rain a fallin' That is not good at all--I've seen a truck jackknife in front of me once in one of those monsoon showers----all because of going too fast for the conditions-----:eek:

---------------------------------------

I'm going to do a few client visits this afternoon and get some changing out of couplers done tonight. We're not into the AC just yet but-----

Have a good day out there--

Good Morning All!

Jim...Although we have been having "weather" this year, high temps have not been an issue. Our problem this month is that we have had 9 days of severe weather. Tornados every day. Sunday I was east of home when the warnings started. I sat on a country road about 5 miles from my house and watched some clouds that were doing some serious rotating. I am not dense ;) so I kept a distance, but there is something exhilarating about being near that threatening force. Had a few funnels touch down yesterday just south of Denver.

One good thing about this area is that even if the days get warm, it almost always cools down to the 50's at night. Also, we had very low humidity, which most of the time is a blessing. Since we have had so much rain this summer, the state is looking VERY green and we are sure enjoying it!

Jeffrey...How is your Mom? Does it look like she will be able to be home for the wedding?

Rex...How is life in Tuscaloosa? :)

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Sandy

I'm not going to get old or grow up! I see way to many older grumpy people running around complaining about everything and nothing at all.:( That don't look fun to me! I much rather start DMSF!:D Here's mud in yer eye:D:D:D:D:D:D:p

Chris, Chris, Chris.

Growing old IS mandatory! Growing up isn't!

There is a distinct difference.

I believe this was/is in one of our members sigs.

jeffrey, sounds like your mower deck might have right hand threads. Instead of lefty loosie it might be righty loosie like the nuts on a bat wing mower.

Afternoon people---

Sheeeesh--Talk about a lazy day---after I go and find that I don't have the client visits I get to spend it lazing abouts b/c almost everything was done!!:D:D:D

So, how has it been witchoo?:D:D:D

DMSF's are very GOOD way to lower your Blood pressure and get some good exercise at the same time:D:D:D:D

BTW: tomarrow is the FIRST day of my vacation! I'm going to work on the layout some and lounge around waiting for the glue to dry!

Evening gang! Thought I would drop by and see how piled up it is from Chris:D. Not to bad yet!

On the home front I've managed to install 12 more mainline signals. I think there are six more to do, but I have to build them first. Got tired of messing with my old putt-putt pressure washer and bought a new 3000psi Troybilt. I will either clean or destroy; I have been known to get carried away:rolleyes:.

Humidity? Yup, I know all about Bangkok. The wife and I lived there for two years (69-71). If one were wise, they soon forget about asking the temp or humidity, but after the first year you will think nothing about it and play touch football, volley ball, and basketball using jungle rules. The first year, the wife and I laughed at the locals wearing jackets during their winter's six weeks. It got down to the low 80's and sometimes into the upper 70's. The next year, we wore jackets. LOL:D

JIM: I meant to tell you that when my cousin visited, he told me he had Meniere's disease. He has severe hearing problems along with ringing.

Larry....jeffrey, sounds like your mower deck might have right hand threads. Instead of lefty loosie it might be righty loosie like the nuts on a bat wing mower.
My thoughts exactly ;) I....errr...have been there.:o.

Sandy: T-town is now fully in summer time heat ...and I would rather be in your country. When I was young and few had a/c in cars and houses (definitely not in the schools), we seem to get by much better. Naturally, I have a couple of "have-to" projects (painting garage and restaining porch) that must be done now. I can't even think of a way to get out of it. :( Oh yeah, they are busy adding another 10,000 seats to the football stadium putting it around 103,000. ROLL TIDE! :D

Morning from Ye Olde London Towne.
cool and rain here. highs around 20c (68f).

I've still been pretty much sidelined by the trapped nerve in my neck. Did manage to hit the not so local LHS last Saturday. Picked up a few structure kits and some detail parts. I've started on the Summit 'Jack in the Box' drive thru. Bloody expensive kits but the styrene milling is spot on. Its going together very easily. Photos to come, eventually. I can only sit up for a couple of hours at a time, then its back to laying flat on my back with an ice pack.

Its our club's open house running session this Saturday. I'm hoping to be able to make it but......

take care all and have a great day.

Good morning.

It's 71 and foggy. The high today should be in the mid 90's and it will be sunny.

My father and I finally got the blades on the new mower changed yesterday. One went without a hitch but the other was a regular Greek. The nut holding it finally broke loose after almost 10 minutes of incessant pounding from the air impact. Our big compressor (homemade) goes up to 100 pounds and it was maxed out. I was right about the blades though. They were both bent, one quite severely. Isn't it fortunate that we just happened to have 2 heavy duty replacements lying around. Naturally they have a different centering hole than our other mowers 42" deck (it has 2, a 42" and a 60"). The new one has a star shaped hole with a nut on a lug while the older one has a round hole with each blade held by 2 bolts. We went by the rehab center and checked on my mother's progress. She's improving day by day. She's not real crazy about the physical therapy but she has to get to the point that she can get around on her own before she comes back home. My father has to work and I can't be there all the time to help her get around. I have a life too, such as it is. I also got some grocery shopping done as it was time to refill the freezer. Picked up several new movie DVD's while I was at it. The Kingdom of the crystal skulls, The Scorpion King (special edition), The Scorpion King 2, The Running Man (have it on VHS, just had to get it on DVD).

Good Morning---

Rather dull today with showers and those t'under boomers coming through---we're going to get about 1-2 inches of rain without the thunderstorm monsoons---if t'storm monsoons come along add some more----:eek:

Got told to do fiddlework from home---telecommuting is a lot easier to do---no fighting of traffic---especially with gas at $1.03.5/litre....:eek:

After all that fiddlework I'll try to do some work on the trainroom mess that has developed on the layout. I've also got some transitioning to do--yay--NOT:( but one gets the dang thing done---

AndrewC pinched nerves are never easy to get rid of either--take care--

RexHROLL TIDE is right---they be doing real good---:D:D

Good morning folks.

I am in full summer tourist mode. There is NOTHING getting done on my layout lately. Oh well, I did get to see an M60 tank run over a Crown Victoria this weekend! We went to the Army reserve base in St Paul to see a demonstration of restored tanks and support vehicles. The crushing of the car was the gimmick to get people to show up. It was quite the show!

My wife is settling into unemployment quite nicely. She had been working ten to sixteen hour days for two years straight, so a break is in order. Aside from the cut in pay, I like this new, non working wife. She's starting to clean around the house again. I've been doing most of it for years. It's amazing how nice and bubbly she is again.

I stated that I would like to spend the next day off working on the layout. I need to break out the soldering iron to finish up the trestle and other track work. My wife was excited to hear there may be progress. Then get this, she asked if she could help on the layout next time! I couldn't believe my ears. I think I'll have to start making trees so she can apply the ground foam. That's about all I can come up with so far that I think she'll be able to do. I still can't believe she wants to help. She must be really bored! Actually, she has taken a bit of an interest in trains herself. She really seemed to like riding in the old heavyweight car behind a restored Soo Pacific last year. A closet train fan maybe?:D

Sorry for the long post, but that's what I'm up to.

I hope you all have a great day!
