Good morning.

It's 74 and clear. The high will be in the mid 90's and it will be partly cloudy.

Didn't get much done yesterday other than run down a wiring bug on the layout. It turned out to be a simple loose connection but it took almost three hours to find it. I also changed out the couplers on some of my new hoppers with Kadee #5's. Today I'll likely be busy cleaning up the mess I made yesterday while working on the video rack. I went through it and made sure every wire was tight and marked as to it's function and what component it connected to. I hope I don't have to do anything like that again real soon.

Good Morning----

We got some sun today and tomorrow and the highs are going to be in the mid 20'sC with the lows in the mid 'teensC. :D:D:D

We had a 20% chance of a scattered shower show up last night as a monsoonal t'undering boomer.:eek: My backyard pond is back to lake size:confused::eek:----good thing I threw in the floating dock:D:D

Today is day off but I go to the doctors to get the ol' bod poked and proded. Then it is off, hopefully, to FLHS to get some more track and such to put up a diesel service yard in my Exceda Wye yard---which, being the throat to the main to Williston, should've had a service yard but doesn't ---:(:o---a small OOPS on my part---heh-heh:eek:

Chris I'm refurbishing a couple of brass doodlebugs I got at some show a while back---they run but----;)

Good morning folks

It was 63 F this morning as I headed out. High will be 78 F with a chance of thunderstorms.

It was a busy but relaxing weekend. Saturday was spent running around doing the bi-weekly restocking of the cupboards. Sunday was spent leisurely doing things around the house. I cleaned out the pond filter, mowed the back yard, and few other odds and ends.

I did get some time on the layout. Most of it was cleaning it off and reorganizing things. I also went through the stuff on the workbench. I have to attach the brake wheel to an Accurail wood boxcar. I then have to renumber a couple of cars. Problem is someone “borrowed” my glue. Now I have to go out and get some more.

Tonight will be one of those nights. My son has a baseball game and my daughter her flute lesson.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Jim: The screening is Tuesday, so I am going to assume then. We will have it online shortly after that. I think we are reediting it, and making it a little longer for the internet release.

It is so weird not having anything to do today. Been busy since Friday with movie stuff that this sitting around is nice.

Jim, It seems like Fla. & Ga. has been working on I-75 for about 30 years & there's no end in sight that I can see. They just get finished w/4 laning it & then they start all over 6 laning it. Now, it's supposed to be 8 lanes wide between Macon, Ga. & Ocala, Fl.
When I got up this morning it was already a humid 75*. Every morning in NC it was between 55 & 60* until about 9am. No humidy & a slight breeze. Right now it's 93* w/a 100% humidity. To hot to go in the train room today. Looks like I'm going to have to get up at 5am & be in the train room no later than 6:30 & only work till about noon & then spend the rest of the day on the forum.

Larry I wished I could get myself up that early. Well I do get up that early but after reading our local rag of a newspaper I lay back down. I need to keep myself up and go to the wood shop or the train room and strat doing something. I am sure I would feel better and the could say I really got something accomplished.

Larry, you need to see what ya can do to cool your train room! Florida is one humid place man I tell ya what! I got to get on finishing out my train room but at least the A/C can keep what I got bareable fer now:o

BTW I went to the Suncoast MRR club Open house and Swap last weekend:) I got to meet Jayl1 and got some trains to boot:D Jay said ther is going to be a show in orlando soon.........I might try to do that one:confused:

Afternoon, everyone.

Jeffrey, I always say that, on my next wiring job, I'm going to make it neat and label everything. I'm still working on that concept. :)

BOC, looks like our 40% chance of rain is rapidly diminshing to zero. I hope all the poking and prodding shows you've still got a few years left. I keep looking at my yard with the idea of tearing part of it up so the engine house is on the opposite side of the yard so I can add a runaround track. Every time I look at it, I feel a nap coming on. :D

Tom, your idea of relaxing days and mine differs considerably.

Phillip, Chris hasn't made a mess yet...it's just all threats...at least for now.

Dan, I hope all that work results in some kind of prize. Let us know the link when the movie is up.

Larry, it's like a sauna bath up here today too. Since my workbench is in the garage, it's either up early or stay up late to get anything done. Thank goodness the layout is in the basement, where it stays relatively cool, or I'd never get anything done on it either. I have the feeling that someone's cousins in Georgia and Florida have the roadwork contracts. Heck, I'd settle for the orange barrel contract. ;)

Larry G., sounds like you need about 10 more cups of coffee while reading the local fishwrap. That should keep you up.

There's a few little storms to the north of us but nothing looks like it's coming together. It's 96 with a heat index of 101! I had to bring up the card table and chairs from the basement, which meant that I had to come out the basement door and carry them up to the house. That about wore me out for the day. Man, I'm getting old. :(

Good Evening---

Doctor appointment went quickly. All my bloodwork came up good---triglycerides, bloodsugar(A1c) good, cholesterol levels good, and kidney, liver functions good-----next up---all kinds of heart tests, nuclearized things and et al.

Went to FLHS and got all manner of code 55 track and several turnout kits. Yes, I'm going to handlay my turnouts---and redo some yards to code 55---yeeesh:eek::eek::eek: BTW---while I was there he pulled out from the counter a set of undec. 5 bay cylindrical hoppers----6/$30:D:D:D:D----I NEEDED THOSE---Heeheehee:D:D:D

Now, I'll be in trainroom doing some planning--this way the dang yard might work:eek::(

Jim If I drank 1 cup of coffee I would have heartburn for at least a week. I cannot even tolerate decaff any longer. Give me a gallon of decaff iced tea I am in hog heaven and not one whisper of acid reflux,gerd/whatever else they call it this week.

I can relate. The wife's little Geo popped a cv boot this week. I got the parts today, I'll try to knock it out timorrow before it gets too hot. Gotta get my car back from her before she kills it. She knocked the passenger side mirror off on somebody's mailbox. 85 bucks for a piece of mirror glass with the "objects in the rear view mirror...." stuff on them.....rediculous!

Man, I'm getting old. :(

Yes we all are. Cept maybe Chris.:D

You must have the same problem with coffee that I do. I used to be able to guzzle it down but now just the sight of it makes me sick. It gives me a heartburn you wouldn't believe.

Florida is one humid place man I tell ya what!
The people around here are complaining about the high humidity, and blaming me for bringing it from Florida. The humidity? 43%. I'm used to 95+%. Of course, the people here are used to 10%...

43%!?----We'd see 80+% most of the summer.;) Mind, it very rarely goes over the 35C level---although we can get them--:rolleyes:

Humidity here at the moment is about 60%, but of course it's dry at this time. When rain is moving in it's nothing for the humidity to hit 90+% quick.

Evening, everyone.

BOC, glad at least the first round of tests went well. I guess that's one good thing about not having a hobby shop too close. If there was, I'd find something I "need" every time I walked through the door. :)

Larry and Jeffrey, I can't drink caffinated coffee now becuase it triggers my Meniere's attacks but decaf isn't a problem. When I was a deputy, I used to drink gallons of the stuff on graves to stay awake. I'm really lucky to have basically a cast iron stomach. I can eat just about anything and I don't think I've ever had acid reflux or heartburn in my life.

Karl, car replacement parts are getting really expensive. My daughter managed to knock off both power mirrors going through a carwash even though it had a big sign saying "NO GRAND AMS". She apparently thought it meant someone else's car but hers. It cost about $200 and four hours of cussin' to replace those dang things. It things like this that make me reailize why GM was doomed to bankruptcy.

Believe it or not, the most humid city in the US is Olympia, Washington. That's because of persistent fog and low clouds. The most humid warm cities in the US are Houston and almost anywhere on the east coast of Florida. Houston has the worst average heat index because it doesn't get the sea breezes that help Florida feel cooler. Now, there are times during the summer when the area from Illinois to the East Coast and up into southern Canada can have the highest relative humidity and most uncomfortable heat indexes. This occurs several times a summer when the Bermuda high moves far enough east to pump Gulf air directly north. The already humid, warm air, combined with the generally moist ground and dense vegetation can combine to give temperatures in the mid 90's and humidities in the 70% range, giving a heat index of 115 degrees. This is rarely exceeded in the normally humid Southeast, when very high temperatures usually occur during droughts and the humidity is relatively low. Be glad you don't live in Bangkok, where the average high daily heat index is 112.

Speaking of hot and humid, it's still 78 here and with 78% humidity. We had a nice blob of thunderstorms develop to our north but they crapped out before they got here. We have another shot at some rain tomorrow but then the heat pump gets turned on. Looks like Wednesday through Saturday should have daily highs near 100 and a heat index of 110. Thank goodness for Mr. Carrier and his air conditioner. :D

Yes we all are. Cept maybe Chris.:D

I'm not going to get old or grow up! I see way to many older grumpy people running around complaining about everything and nothing at all.:( That don't look fun to me! I much rather start DMSF!:D Here's mud in yer eye:D:D:D:D:D:D:p
