Josh, duh, I just realized that after reading his post again. Still looks like something the NS would buy though. :)

Don, you've got some Grande power there that I'm very keen on!

ThoroughBreed, Wow!!! That was quite a makeover on the proto covered hopper.

Another remix from last year, BNSF DP on the tail end of an empty coal drag at Quinton, Al,

Wow, great looking locos there Don, but I think they overdid the weathering on that KCS hopper, as of 2007, she was still immaculate and pristine:

I kinda figured they looked new still as I saw a bunch of them in Omaha one day. I like the work that Pete does thought and we can imagine in the future it will look like mine, I do however in the future plan to buy some that I will keep in new condition.

Nice looking engines, Don. I have this love-hate relationship with Athearn when it comes to details. They did a great hob with the truck details on that tunnel motor, for example, and then put on front handrails that look like they came from a toy train set. I also don't understand why they don't install the plow and MU hoses as well.

That weathered KCS covered hopper is a nice job but I sure like the look of the clean car better. That has to be one of the classiest freight car schmes in the last 10 years.

Eric, nice night shot. I sure wish I could see the stars like that now through all this haze down here.

Josh, where did you pick you those 'Vettes? That 1954 roadster with the removeable top looks particularly good and it's a pretty rare bird, both in real life and as a an HO scale model.

Unfortunately, I think it's beyond saving. The frame appears to be badly rusted through in places and probably explains why it's been just sitting for nearly forty years.

Don't be counting your pennies...I've seen worse cars that have been restored into private cars, and are Amtrak certified. It's frame looks like it's in great shape...could use a sandblast and some bondo, and a closer inspection would reveal the rest.

Hi Ron,
That's an interesting project alright with a lot of variation. Looks like your comming along fine though.

For the curved arches of the stone portion I was thinking that possibly some aluminum flashing could be easly cut and bent to the desired shape to form the under side of the Via Duct. You might find it easier to cut the the actual pattern of the backing for the face from some thin wood or possibly a plastic sheet of styrene. The arches possibly could be formed using this same sheeting and the whole thing glued together!

Just a thought.

David

Guess this is an old thread and I should have quoted what you said Ron.

Como depot circa 1013, after the hotel next door burned (1898) and they had to rebuild the left end. Also the Como dispachers office, circa 1910, which sat across the tracks from the depot. Both were done to match photos from the client.

Note that the "platform" for the depot is just packed dirt just like the prototype. Dispachers office was built by the D&SP and is much more ornate then the depot.

Both are scratch built in O scale.

eBay. The '54 Roadster comes in both White & Black. I have both.

I actually have every Corvette MM made in HO scale, but the two 1961's.

Looks like Railroading For You Will Stop For Awhile!?

Hi Josh,
I can just see the Drag Races beginning and remember well when they first came out, even third gear scratch was no problem! Of course they didn't have
the the higher grade rubber compounds we do today with a lot more traction.

How have you been?

Take care
