Flo, a cold glass of water please. Thought I would stop in for a minute.
KenL - Hope to see some pictures of your layout when you're finished.

Steve - I hope the surgery goes OK.

Rex - How much extension are you adding to your layout ?

Stan.

Just a morning cuppa joe, Flo...

Stan - Glad to see you in the Shop more regularly again. Of course now it seems like everybody else is coming here less! Must be spring fever as Rex was saying...

I do have a progress thread on it, there's a bunch of photos starting at the middle of Page 7 and beyond:

Steve - thanx for the tip, luckily that part has been taken care of. I temporarily placed the mine building over the target location and test-loaded some ballast* into a hopper car on each of the 3 tracks, it works OK so I guess I can leave the tracks where they are and repair/repaint the subroadbed - and of course install the final details on the tipple. [* I still have to order some coal from anywhere except Woodland Scenics!]

Good Morning All:

You're right Rex - just put those decoders in anything because they sound so good. I'm getting a 2-6-2 and a 2-8-2 ready to paint and put them in there.

Fergie:
I just got an e-mail from Loys and our order will ship as soon as I send them a money order, I've just got to get the money together. It seems like some of the hobby money went to the dentist for a crown for Stephanie. At least I didn't have to put up with the pain and inconvience of have the work done.

The trash truck is comming so let me get outt'a here.

Have a blessed day
Bob

Good evening gang,

Fergie - Hope everything works out OK as far as taking care of your Dad while you're at sea.

C'ya!

I'm here tied to the wharf like a caged rat! We're gearing up and I'm getting ready to order gear. Dad's doing OK. Physicaly he's on the mend but emotionaly this has been rough on him, especially as his license was suspended. (Nova Scotia law requires all persons with certain health conditions to pass a physical before a license willl be re-issued after a major illness) What's keeping Dad from getting his license is his BP. It's fine at home but sky rockets when he sees a Doctor. He gets uptight because he's afraid of not getting his license, Go figure!

Bob: Great news! now I have to figure which engie to plug this suckker into?!? The Allegheny, CNR Hudson or the UP FEF-3. Any suggestions? Anyone??

Well I'm taking Sunday off so if I'm around I'll be skyping.

Later All

Fergie

Flo, to use SteveB's vernacular - I "fancy" something tall & cold right about now! (Where has everybody gone BTW?)

I'm hoping to finish assembling my New River facility tonite. I wanted to try to make it look as 'unlike' the walthers structure as possible, but the building doesn't easily lend itself to those mods without a lot of cutting.

Fergie - That's a tough catch22 your Dad is in with the "whitecoat" hypertension, I'm all too familiar with that myself (except I've never had a license riding on it  - just endless recurring doc visits!) As for which steamer to put the Tsunami into: You know I'm the least qualified to offer opinions on that!:p

I'll try to get on my family 'puter at various times this weekend so I can communicate with you, Steve and the other Skypions in our community.

Toodles!

Hello gang! Hows all?
I had a day of mixed emotions that included worrying about my Golden Retriever and best friend, Rusty. Rusty is in the doggy hospital and has an infected pancreas which the Vet said is common in older dogs (9yrs) and is very serious. We still are not sure about his recovery, but he does seem to be getting a litlle better. A very good visit from my pal CJcrescent helped lift my spirits with a lot of laughter and conversation as well as some idea swapping and some new plans made that should make for better train operation and also allow for additional sidings for block control.

I have to tell you about the startling experience I had while CJ was over here. As you all know I have been expanding the layout. Well, there are areas where the lighting is not very good and that is where I was working when all of a sudden a big flash of light, similiar to that of a flash bulb went off before me. It really scared me and thinking that something had exploded...I panicked:eek: , but I looked around and saw that CJ had taken his hat off right under one of the halogen bulbs. The reflection was so bright I had to grab my welding helmet for protection. Finally, after pleading for mercy, he put his hat back on and I could then calm my fears of radiation poisoning and remove my helmet.:p :p :D :D

Stan: The extension is about 32 feet by 30" run from the existing layout with another 4x8 section as peninsula at the end.

**HELP!** Anyone know how to contact Eric Brooman? I want to ask him a few questions about paint & decals (hint, wanting to have a UB AC4400 on my layout).

Good morning gang,

Fergie - My kids had the 'puter tied up last night, plus I was (1) ferrying my teenager to one of her parties and (2) finishing work on my coal mine building. Tried skyping you at ~7:30 this morning but I guess you were off to your Saturday chores...

Rex - Condolences about Rusty, hope he recovers. At least you have CJ there to brighten things up during this rough time:D

Josh - You might try sending Eric Brooman a message thru Kalmbach (Model Railroader). I realize that might take longer, but at least he's more likely to respond if he sees their return address. People [esp. celebs] get flooded with so much SPAM nowadays, they often will only open mail from senders they personally know.

I'll be dropping in at a Mid-Eastern Region NMRA Minicon this morning, I know at least 3 people who'll be there. I'll bring my camera too, in case there are any decent modular layouts.

HENWAY! Wasn't his first name Earnest?
:D :D :D

Good news folks! Rusty got to come home today for his R&R. His fever broke and seems to be doing better...just have to get him to start eating more. It was really touching to see Moe, our poodle, go up to Rusty and lie down next to him. That would have never happen before.:)

Rex,

That is GREAT NEWS!!!!!! Rusty's my buddy as well. As ya know he comes up and talks to me, but what ya don't know is I understand him. So ya better be nice, or I'll start telling secrets.

I know Moe has been lost without him.

Hello all,
here's onne of Don Burgesses video clips from todays steam hauled fan trip, it's a 2-8-0, class 8F http://www.burgess57.freeserve.co.uk/48151_Eldroth.WMV

i tried to Skypeeee you guys but nobody's on line.

Rex glad Rustys on the mend, on the subject of Solar panel equiped heads, i had to photograph one of our managers for a pass, i told him to powder his head as it was reflecting the light, he was very impressed, NOT. He has never forgiven me for that.
Carey just let me finnish my Pork Steak only kidding, how are you getting on with your gums and bone problem,

Rex, Just remember one thing, BALD IS BEAUTIFUL! :D

One of these days, I'm gonna pull my hat off right as Carey does and we'll flash blind you. :D

Hey Rex. I just wanted to say, that I too am glad that Rusty,is going to be okay, and I too knew what it was to have a loyal friend. Actually, there were three of them. Adolph,Caroline, and Otto. All three were german shepards, and yet, sadly, they are no longer with me. One was my dog,Otto,Caroline belonged to my grand dad,and Adolph belonged to my uncle.Again it is indeed good news concerning Rusty.I hope to see you later this month.William.:)

Kind of adds new meaning to the term "Light at the end of the tunnel... and knowing my luck it's an on coming train".

Rex & Grande Man: What ever you do do't walk towards the light! It may be harmful to your health:D
