Michael, I think you may have posted in the wrong thread. Now you are playing one of my games! Finally some sun this morning. Temp is nice at 74°F, but the dewpoint is 70°F, so it's quite soupy outside. If it doesn't get too hot today, it shouldn't be too uncomfortable. Expected high is 86°F.
Nothing planned for today except being lazy. Probably run trains later after lunch.
This came to mind.....They said they would come back to our sessions if we abided by their rules.
How do you guys think that went over?

I tried to get it under my icon instead of well-known member, but can't figure that one out.
They'd have to change their shorts if they could see what I would have brought to the session. this is my " unit casket train "
I get itI am kinda sorry I posted this thread but I felt bad for the gentleman who invited us over to house, had pizza and snacks and soft drinks. But in the end we had fun and it lasted into the night.
I'm still building my new layout modeling the modern era, I will run prototypical and fantasy locomotives and freight cars but my theme will be about having fun and running trains with my friends. Btw I'm 78 and I have been doing this my whole life.
People have unrealistic ideas about the size of layouts, have little clue to the fact using set track has major limitations and large buildings or scenic items look out of place I once built a tree that looked totally out of scale and yet there was a tree of that size in existence. Our hobby inevitable has to concede and allow for any number of factors. Instead of being so pleased you even picked up his plans and used them to reference his mill, he clearly expected you to make an exact to scale copy. Was he then planning on you handing it over or making a second copy for him? Because I have heard of that not once but twice. seriously entitled people out there.Unfortunately I’ve read too stories like this before. Many different versions but it’s still sad. People have to understand, even though we might be trying to model the real world, its still a fantasy
I had an instance on my layout around 2016 where a retired paper mill director of operations gave me full sized drawings of the paper mill he worked at. I compressed it but still gave it the feel of the real thing. Lost a friend the day he came over to inspect the model and said none of that is my mill. We haven’t spoken since. His lost as I am a nice guy…
If some one is going to be concerned if their actions are reported, perhaps they should consider those actions before taking themI was a friend of the guy who got us all together. Btw one of the guys that left in a huff contacting me telling me he did not appreciate me discussing what happened online. He on went on to tell me that that ho trains are not toys to be played with but more like historical artifacts to show how they made history in the past. I told him he can do whatever he wants and I will do what I want.
He also asked me to delete this thread, SORRY NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!
Btw any of you guys have any of the Broadway limited diecast locomotives, some of them are catching my eye.
IT'S ALWAY ABOUT THE FRIENDSHIP'S AND THE FUN.
DAVE
This is sweet! My husband was the layout owner he asked me to do a little garden for his initial layout he now leaves scenic details to me, that said he builds the base, the tracks, he does the electrics the electronics, he does the chips, if I move a train so his programming goes wrong I get a very dirt look, I know if I borrow any rolling stock to endure it goes back as close as possible or have a really good excuseHe does decals and changes kadees and anything technical unless fiddly then he instructs me how to. he has been known to egg me on with the prototypical types and throw money to enable it lol.Plus if it suits him he can out talk out them on most technical and historical points and a couple of times when someone has been mean to me he his has picked the sxxx out of their layout

NorthBrit!!!We are.![]()
Divvy upThey'd have to change their shorts if they could see what I would have brought to the session.
Hooyah!!I get it
1. I can run a vanilla scene especially 1960s
2. On some forums you get panned if ŷou are not prototypical
3 I have skits everywhere Scooby do, Harry Potter, dinosaurs dr who Christmas time I can often edge them in as seasonal specials
4 I am a firm believer it is the layout owners right to run what they want
5 I also think people should be polite and if someone is rude unnecessarily then they too deserve no respect
6 those types probably did me a favour because every time they made fun of me I invested time and effort to improve my game and have a better layout than them, and improved my skills to throw it in their faces
7 I also have the decency to respect other peoples skills especially when superior to mine

So your mate standing up for does not have to be prototypical is spot on, and telling bullies and that is what they are to go elsewhere is applaudable.
The only rules that apply are those you choose for yourself.
I was picked on about my Dr Who Daleks and a bunch of people posted proof that life size Daleks have appeared all over the place lol.
Plus there’s a wish list out there of people who build trains that they wish had existed, often with perfectly good reasons why they should have been built.
Honest honest injun I am. OT a river counter no blowing my layout up….gulpsIf the 'rivet counters' have a layout set to a WW2 theme take a Vera Lynn record (remember them?
Tell them there is an air raid and blow their layout to bits.
I'll see your Thunderbirds and raise you a Klaatu.Honest honest injun I am. OT a river counter no blowing my layout up….gulps
