Isn't Maui all tourist trap now? Last time I went, probably 30 years ago, I couldn't even find the beach that I used to go body surfing at. All hotels, shopping centers, etc geared at tourism. I probably couldn't find my grand parents' grave sites and wouldn't be surprised if they were all displaced for a shopping center. So prices, yeah no kidding.
As most here know I am not a fan of Maui. It’s gorgeous and the weather is wonderful but it’s so boring. I do not want to play golf or ride horses every day. That’s what endears Maui to my brother and my wife. The weather though does come close to trump all things but nope still not for me.

Tourist trap? I don’t know about that. I think that is very subjective. Yes the beaches are built up but that is what happens to waterfront property in every country I have ever visited

Good morning to all including the challenged IPad photo folks. I use a IPadPro with IpadOS 18.7 software and the Duck Duck Go browser. I use the attach file method here, hit my photo library, press insert, full image and

viola the photo appears. This photo was taken Friday for Front end Friday placement on FB. No issues in it’s orientation as it’s was created as upright and has no modifications. Both engines are on the bench (not touched since I put them there) for new decoders and weathering. I have been trying to ignite my passion for my trains and I’m not doing well

Like MIGALYTO 100 miles south of me the nice weather continues and it will help me celebrate the start of year #73 today! So. Central Wisconsin is at 54f/12c heading to a very unseasonable 87f/30c. The WeatherChannel app is saying dry now until Saturday and daily highs in the 80’s every day for the next 8 days! We shall see…

The grandson made the team he wanted and the coaches he was hoping for. Better yet his other “hockey friends” including the 2 buddies and even the buddette made the team. Buddette (a girl who is a friend but not a girl friend) will be the goalie. She even texted me at 8 last night as the goalies had their tryouts yesterday and she was told after the 1st session she would be the “A” team goalie even though goalie tryouts finish up today. She was very thrilled! The grandson texted me the goalie news this morning.

Then he let me know when the next slot car races will be held in October if he can get 3 additional adult chaperones besides me. The 22nd and 23rd of October. 9am to 3:30pm both days. The school district has those 2 days off plus the 24th for who knows why. He said the limit of racers will be 24 as 32 the last time was too much. When Terry wakes up we will check the calendar just to double check I’m available.

After school today the grandson and I will head to the hockey pro shop to spend some money on new sticks for him. It’s something we have done since his second year playing. 2 sticks will set me back the equivalent of a new AC44C6m Scaletrains sound equipped diesel. To be stripped down and repainted into my Wisconsin Interstate colors. I know the price because I put it on hold yesterday and will pick it up tomorrow at Hiawatha Hobbies. Why? Because I like the looks…

Enjoy the day

Morning all,

Took me an hour to catch up, and now I am (caught up).

Currently 60° and clear going for a high of 84° later. That a bit above the average temp of 78° for this time of year.

Went and saw mom on Saturday. First time since the knee replacement. I know too long in the car makes the "old" replacement want to lock up, but the "new" replacement did quite well. Mom is doing good for being 89. Then we had church and did some errands after we got back. Yesterday was the catch up, getting the laundry done and other household stuff. I "emptied" the freezer and took an inventory of what was in the thing. Found some things that I thought were gone. I did scrape as much ice out of it as I could, so it ought to hold the food better. Did some food rotation as we had gotten 20 pounds of 85\15 ground beef on Thursday and I knew there was some older in there. I thought we'd better stock up a bit as a local meat market was having a sale @$4.99 a pound. I also did some ribs on the grill yesterday, first time in a while. I tend to toss a couple of chunks of peach wood on the coals when I do things like ribs. I have a bunch of it and it adds to the flavor profile of the pork.

TomO: Happy Birthday

@troyphoto short question about your minis. how big are those bases for them? Because i was creating some stuff lately, and have now some "scrapwood" and i was thinking if i should sell them or what ever for mini bases. they have a diameter of around 7 cm.
This game: the round figure bases are 27mm
the squares they fit on are 65mm

That does not mean they wouldn't fit another game. But I do not know of one with 7cm bases

Good Morning All. Clear and 63° in doody-free North Central Texas. Same old forecast for the next ten days, cloudy overnight tonight and clear dry warm days for a while. Well, I say doody-free, there's still those two 18-wheeler loads of pulverized cow manure piled in the field just across the road. But it is not in the pathway.

Yesterday was small chore day on the SFW estate. The dishwasher, bed linen laundry, a trip to the dumpster with a cart full of offerings, supper-prep, etc. I did finish mowing the last 1/4 acre on the north side of the yard and split 2 more of the giant logs (4-way split) that I cut the week before last. I just did 2, because doing a third one then requires a Tylenol afterward.
Brrr! The pool water temperature which was 80° on Saturday night, dropped down to 70° by Sunday morning. That's the last temperature report since I removed the thermometer, vacuum and ladder yesterday. I'll add the winterizing chemicals today or tomorrow and put the cover on later this week.

No time out in the train shed yesterday, except to re-stock the beer fridge out there.

Train Shows/Swap Meets - I intentionally skipped the big show in Plano TX that WestexJohn went to this weekend. As he posted, they have 2 shows a year there and I normally go to the January one when the weather is colder. Always something there that catches my eye, but I honestly don't need anything else. I probably have too much already. 80 engines with 6 more due Tuesday, just over 800 freight cars and 300+ structures, some of which might not fit once I develop the remaining 1/3 of the as yet unscenicked (sp) layout. I shudder to think how many $$$ are out in the train shed. Luckily, my wife knows better than to ask.
Marlin - Seems like a very successful swap meet for you.
Mac - A couple of great looking photo postings. You take excellent pictures.

The late Jerry Lee Lewis was born on this day in 1935. He's probably still shakin'!
Everyone have a great Monday.

Happy Birthday Tom! I never felt the locals wanted us there when we've been to the islands. Once we ventured out of the resort property it was pretty obvious.

My side gig at the local shop running their Gunbroker auctions I think will be as profitable as it is fun. 2 closed last night. The 1921 Colt Commercial 1911 just under $1850 and an antique (1895) Deluxe Marlin 1893 for $3620. There was a bidding war for the Marlin that went back and forth for over an hour after the original closing time. The "15 minute" rule lets everyone bid until no-one counters. I like being a commissioned consultant.;) I have 5 more closing next Sunday, then I will wait until we return from Europe (end of Oct) to post some big money Colts & S&W's. https://www.gunbroker.com/all/search?includesellers=3860833

Willie - One thing I didn't mention and I had never really thought about, until I had tables at several swap meets, was that the majority of buyers wanted a specific road name, era, and style of engines and cars. Price wasn't as important if it was fair, but rather did it fit their shopping/wish list.
