On a two lane highway with 10,000 cars on it at the same time, it doesn't matter, the heavy traffic effect will create massive stop and go.
I remember back in the 1990's when we lived in the Bay Area it took me on average 45 minutes to go about 10 miles. Starting from my house, through the toll plaza at the Dumbarton bridge, over the 2 mile bridge, then through East Palo Alto and on to 101south.

2011 I had my thyroid removed for my 1st cancer operation. I started the thyroid replacement medicine and I do it when I wake up every morning. I have always taken it with a diet Dr Pepper or a diet Cherry Pepsi. So for 15 years I was informed yesterday I was taking it wrong. Based on a new study it should be taken with a full glass of water not my soda to get the full affect of the medicines. This came from a Doctor working with my Endocrinologist as a “Fellow”. Basically an Endocrinologist in training. Kind of shocked but said ok. So this morning it was do I grab a bottle of water instead of the DDP. Stubborn old me? I grabbed the water! We’ll see how long this lasts…

Be well
Tom - Maria was having problems with her Thyroid meds. Doc found out she was taking them in the morning and switched her to just before bed with big glass of water. A ton of issues just went away. She lost hers about 30 years ago, so has been on the med hoop jump.

Good Morning All. Clear skies and 69° here on the SFW estate. Not much changed with the upcoming boring weather forecast. Still predicting rain for Sunday and cooler weather around mid-week. Had several brief showers yesterday that didn't register in the rain gauge. High today will still be in the mid-90's. The rain that was originally in our forecast for today was removed Wednesday; but it's raining 20 miles north in Oklahoma right now. It may come here but probably not.

Grocery trek yesterday was successful, it appears that they are mostly done with the store remodeling, but it will be a few more weeks before I know where everything has moved to. Thankfully most of the stuff that I shop for is still generally in the same place, produce, beer and meat. Sugar-free soft drinks are more accessible.
Picked up a new electric chainsaw at the nearby Home Depot, same model as the last 3. The one that I used before the one that I broke Wednesday had lasted 14 years with about 100 hours a year usage. It still works, but I have to manually oil the chain due to a leak in the oil tank. It will get it's tryout this morning. Had to tack on an extra stop at Dutch Bros Coffee shop for my wife. Neither of us ever drank coffee until she started about 15 years ago. Now she can't exist without it. She had run out of her regular brewed coffee on Sunday and her iced coffee on Tuesday; and Amazon was late delivering her regular coffee beans. So she went all day Wednesday and Thursday morning without any and was not in a good mood! Unlike me (beer), she does not keep a running 2-3 week supply on hand. Seems that everyone in town was there at the drive-thru yesterday and it took over 10 minutes to get through. The coffee beans ordered through Amazon were in the mailbox when we got home and we picked up 3 bottles of iced coffee at the grocery store, so she's good for a while.
Speaking of Amazon, we got two separate deliveries on Wednesday. Two items ordered at the same time from the same company were delivered by two different trucks spaced about 6 hours apart! Seemed very inefficient to me.

Today's activities will include more wood cutting and some more log splitting. I'm in the middle of cutting up a 25' long tree trunk that's 14"-18" in diameter that the tornado took down last year. I'm sure that the neighbor's are pleased to see it finally go! It's the trunk that took down my chainsaw.

Just some general cleanup tasks out in the train shed yesterday, both on the layout and in the room. Because of the showers, my wet shoes tracked in grass clippings and other yard debris.
On the layout itself, I am going through the process of testing and running all of my 25+ year old diesels to decide which ones that I am going to cull out. I still run about 20 or so Athearn Blue Box ones, most of which I have done some upgrading on. But I just have too many on the layout overall. In the last 5 years, I have added 15 ScaleTrains engines and I am expecting 6 more before the year's end. While the Athearns still run OK, the ScaleTrains ones just run more smoothly. I'll still be keeping all of the Kato, P2K and Genesis ones active, as well as a few of the Athearn RTR units that are several steps above the blue boxers. Thinking of setting up a "dead line" behind the repair facility that I referenced earlier in the week, to possibly store some of them on.

Terry - Similar to your situation, there are no building codes, permits or inspectors where I am at, thus making any work that I do easier. I don't take shortcuts and follow all recommended electrical codes, but some of my plumbing may be questionable.
Patrick - A similar situation here with the taxes. Since the fellow about a quarter mile south of me decided he was making a "country estate" on a 100 acre property, previously just a pasture, he has caused all of the evaluations around me to go up. I am protected because in Texas, property taxes are frozen when the owner reaches 65, but my younger neighbors are getting screwed. My heirs will have to pay the piper some day.
Marlin - We kept several "barn cats" to control the rodents when we raised chickens. One of them completely freaked out when she accidentally wandered into the house when the back door was open!
Louis - Get better soon, please. I'd lend you some of my blood pressure if I could.
Troy - Sorry to read about your daughter. It's a tough decision whether to do what is right (and honest), or don't bite the hand that feeds you. I'm glad that she took the honest route.

Everybody have a safe Friday.

Good morning gang!

Happy Friday everyone! Yard work last night after work til dusk, trimming trees and bushes. More of the same tonight so I can make an early morning dump run. Nice thing about the dump is the county range is there, so I may take a few pew-pews with me. Wife will be off with her League of women voters group, so I might as well play!

If the price of beef is too high:

Or do like I do, watch for sales.

We picked up 75/25 fresh ground beef this morning at Giant Foods. It was a three-day sale at $3.99/pound. I may stop by and get another 3.5lbs tomorrow morning.

My wife has probably been taken hers all wrong as well. First thing in the morning with an ice cold diet Coke.

My wife has been on synthroid for almost 40 years. She tried taking it just before bed... and ended up forgetting it more often than not.

She also has to juggle and skip is some days because what she needs is in-between dose sizes. And the the T measurements for thyroid function don't move together with her. She gets one in the middle of acceptable, and the other is out of whack. So she has to do a lot of Doctor education on her history.

Fortunately she's a trained medical lab tech and understands the numbers.
